@InSearchofPhysicalMedia I've gotten through the first season so far, and it's a pretty darn great picture quality! 🔥🔥🔥 I watch it on my 4k projector, on a 105' size screen, and I'm noticing so many details I've never noticed or paid attention to before. The sound is very crisp too - this whole release is a dream come true for a Friends fan😎🤘

Thanks for the great review, we’ll be pleasantly surprised when we play these 4K discs on our 65” Curved Samsung 4K TV. The Elite Pioneer AVR will handle the audio superbly. Cant wait to get my hands on this. I have the blue ray set that I've never opened and never will. Its part of my FRIENDS collection I have which includes mugs and the Lego apartment and Central Perk sets. This 4k set even though I may hate myself down the road, I will open and watch.

💥Well to keep it short: the (🇬🇧UK ONLY👉) FRIENDS 4K💿 sets have mislabeled discs, some supposedly missing content, playback issues & errors! Because of this WB is working on a replacement program specifically for the different 🇬🇧UK “ONLY” 4K💿 sets! 💥As I shared there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the 🇺🇸USA FRIENDS 4K💿set!
I have the UK release and can confirm these issues - disc labelling incorrect and the image isn’t good. Had to adjust settings on tv to correct very blown out picture.

Now to answer your questions: So for myself personally as a full time professional reviewer I have always had all of my 4K TV’s & 4K Players professionally calibrated so that I can always accurately compare & review each & every 4K UltraHD💿 release here on my channel but with that being said for yourself it’s something I do recommend if you have a high end 4K TV & your wanting to see everything the exact way it’s intended to be seen but it is a pricey endeavor usually & if you are planning on upgrading your home theatre equipment in the next year or so then I would do it once you’ve upgraded to a new high end 4K TV!📺 But it’s also a personal preference thing too because if you don’t care to have everything look exactly like the directors intended vision then that’s something you have to decide on too! ❓Did you spend a lot for your home theatre equipment? 😉I hope this kinda makes sense & I’m trying to be open with you about all your choices & help you out!👍 🥰I really appreciate all your great support & you using all my links when you order 4K’s💿 it really means a whole lot to me & my channel!!👌😍

@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia I was going to edit my comment after you got to that part in the review but neglected to. I may get this version since I didn’t get the Blu-ray edition. I have all ten seasons in a wooden case with an acrylic door with an image of the cast walking together. It was made available after season ten was released on DVD. Crikey, I feel really old now! I grew up watching the series when I lived in Hawaii!
I don’t have the discs yet but assuming that this restoration is the same that is streaming on HBO Max currently, they are not they extended scenes from the DVD release which is a disappointment.

I note that you said that one of the seasons on 4k had supersized episodes, but that was it. I take this to mean that the other seasons that had extended cuts beyond the broadcast version are not extended. Is that correct?

Thanks for your review! I've bought the 4K boxset in the UK and sadly our version is totally messed up. The discs for season's 3 and 4 are mixed up. But worse the colour grade/correction across all 10 seasons is totally wrong for Monica's apartment. The purple walls are straight up blue! I've tested on both my professionally calibrated projector and OLED TV with Dolby Vision with the same blue results. I've notified where I purchased it (HMV) and WB too. Copies are no longer being sold and I guess taken down from the likes of HMV & Amazon UK. Hoping for a recall and fix, but currently no word from either HMV or WB. Lucky USA owners getting actual purple walls. I'd buy the USA version right away but there's $132 import tax on top!

Never saw Friends, so watched some on youtube. What me hold back is this very irritating laughing track. There are times they start this thing every 5 seconds. Brr, better let it continuous run the whole episode , maybe you forget it, or better give an option to disable this annoying sounds every few seconds.

It's cool that they decided to do that, it means that physical media are not dead yet. But at the same time I don't think that Friends is a show that need 4k transfer, sharp image, fixed colors, dolby atmos etc. I'd prefer Twin Peaks, Lost or Battlestar Galactica than a comedy show that is taking place on stages that were pretending to be apartments and a cafe.

Cant wait to get my hands on this. I have the blue ray set that I've never opened and never will. Its part of my FRIENDS collection I have which includes mugs and the Lego apartment and Central Perk sets. This 4k set even though I may hate myself down the road, I will open and watch.

I have the UK release and can confirm these issues - disc labelling incorrect and the image isn’t good. Had to adjust settings on tv to correct very blown out picture.

Now to answer your questions: So for myself personally as a full time professional reviewer I have always had all of my 4K TV’s & 4K Players professionally calibrated so that I can always accurately compare & review each & every 4K UltraHD💿 release here on my channel but with that being said for yourself it’s something I do recommend if you have a high end 4K TV & your wanting to see everything the exact way it’s intended to be seen but it is a pricey endeavor usually & if you are planning on upgrading your home theatre equipment in the next year or so then I would do it once you’ve upgraded to a new high end 4K TV!📺
But it’s also a personal preference thing too because if you don’t care to have everything look exactly like the directors intended vision then that’s something you have to decide on too!

I have all ten seasons in a wooden case with an acrylic door with an image of the cast walking together. It was made available after season ten was released on DVD. Crikey, I feel really old now! I grew up watching the series when I lived in Hawaii!
I don’t have the discs yet but assuming that this restoration is the same that is streaming on HBO Max currently, they are not they extended scenes from the DVD release which is a disappointment.
@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia it stills seems a bit unclear to me even after watching the entire review. The DVDs have extended cuts beyond the broadcast version. I note that you said that one of the seasons on 4k had supersized episodes, but that was it. I take this to mean that the other seasons that had extended cuts beyond the broadcast version are not extended. Is that correct?

I've bought the 4K boxset in the UK and sadly our version is totally messed up.
The discs for season's 3 and 4 are mixed up. But worse the colour grade/correction across all 10 seasons is totally wrong for Monica's apartment. The purple walls are straight up blue!
I've tested on both my professionally calibrated projector and OLED TV with Dolby Vision with the same blue results.
I've notified where I purchased it (HMV) and WB too.
Copies are no longer being sold and I guess taken down from the likes of HMV & Amazon UK.
Hoping for a recall and fix, but currently no word from either HMV or WB.
Lucky USA owners getting actual purple walls.
I'd buy the USA version right away but there's $132 import tax on top!

Never saw Friends, so watched some on youtube. What me hold back is this very irritating laughing track. There are times they start this thing every 5 seconds. Brr, better let it continuous run the whole episode , maybe you forget it, or better give an option to disable this annoying sounds every few seconds.
Cutting any part of the frame in any direction, no matter what, is garbage.

The show was originally shot in 16:9 (film). It was cropped to 4:3 for television. So they've actually restored the 16:9.

It's cool that they decided to do that, it means that physical media are not dead yet. But at the same time I don't think that Friends is a show that need 4k transfer, sharp image, fixed colors, dolby atmos etc. I'd prefer Twin Peaks, Lost or Battlestar Galactica than a comedy show that is taking place on stages that were pretending to be apartments and a cafe.
Looks like a good set and promising for physical media although I can’t stomach buying it as this is one of the worst shows ever created by mankind.

I hope that other series get this treatment, Seinfeld, How i Met Your Mother, Frasier and Cheers.
