Lovely flowers ! Those look like corsages my grandma would wear . The fruit I believe are 1940's era . They tiny flowers remind me of the organza dresses my sis and I wore in the fifty's . At Easter we got new dresses and the collars sometimes had tiny bunches of flowers and big satin or velvet sashes . Sometimes a bow to match on a headband . They were expensive for the times and made of real silk . A child's dress for special occasions cost between $2.50 -$ 3.50 . I remember being in a Miami K-Mart with my great aunt and seeing such pretty dresses . Sleeveless with wide boufant skirts . A slip with a stiffened layered bottom was needed . A hat, crocheted gloves and white patent leather shoes with a purse to match . And don't forget socks with lace trim !
Selena wraps her boxes with old ribbon and stuff. I bought a necklace from her a few years ago and I have the teal colored vintage lace ribbon and the pink cloth rose that she used on my package, wrapped around the rim of an old black felt rimmed hat that I just hang on a hook in my room.❤
wonderful box of millinery. i live near Selena, the vintage bombshell... i've met her multiple times. she is just as lovely and friendly in person as she is in her videos. she would love that box of vintage goodies.
The first piece you showed...when I was a young teenager in the early 60s I wore those pinned in my hair in lieu of a hat. We wore hats and gloves to church most of the time.
Definitely correct, I was going to write that. Inside the lid of the box is the logo of His Master's Voice and it has record and gramophone written in it too. My father owned a very old gramaphone record player and used needles like these to play 78 RPM records. Happy memories 🎼🎶❤️
I was just thinking about the word millinery today. Such a simple word to describe so many mini wonders! I really like the daisy ones. They just seem so old to me. The last little pink spray was as sweet as can be. So much possibility!❤️🤗
Hi Dottie......You nearly made me cry when you mentioned the "posies". My precious Aunt Hazel used to talk about her posies when I was a child. She was my grandma's older sister and I adored her. She used to babysit for us and we were spoiled rotten. She would bake bread and serve it steaming hot smothered in butter. I don't know how she had the energy to keep up with us because she was already elderly when I was born.
All the flowers are beautiful and the velvet ribbon and bows are simply amazing ❤️. The 2 small jars with lids and mirrors are interesting - rouge maybe? Thank you for sharing 😊❤️
Do you think you could bring the roses and red carnations back to “ life” by briefly holding them under water and then shaking them? The aqua bows look just like ones I had on a bridesmaid dress. And might the yellow band of flowers have beenna headband? I so enjoy your posts!
Nooooooo! Don’t wet them!!! You can revive them using your steam iron, by giving them good jolts of steam, preferably holding them upside down. Use a pair of pliers or long tweezers to hold them so you don’t get a steam burn. You’ll see the flowers open in the steam. Don’t over wet them, then let them dry completely hanging upside down if possible.
I should have mentioned that you don’t want to wet velvet, and many of the flowers have starched stiffening you don’t want to lose, but a light steam will do the trick!
The first group that was arched would make beautiful head bands. Also, the pretty pink velvet ribbon reminds me of a gorgeous silk and lace nightgown I have from the twenties. It's that color but silk. It's also made to fit someone with like a zero or 2 waist. The bottom is flared. Its gorgeous. Dont have any idea what I will do with it but have owned it for years. I loved that box full of old treasures.
Oh that box is the stuff of my dreams! This type of thing is so hard to find, but not for you! I would not get them wet....velvet does not like water. I also watch Vintage Bombshell. ☺️
I used to volunteer at a thrift shop and the men didn't see the value in these type items and would through them away, painful to know they went in a landfill.
@@TarnishedTreasures1,I argued with one guy and his son,he said nobody wants that,so I asked him if I could have it,and he made his son retrieve it from the dumpster,I would rather put it in the free box instead of throwing it away,I'm glad you had a guy who seen value in it,my Mother threw away German helmets and a huge flag from World War 2,she was not a saver of things.
I would keep all the things together in the box it was so lovely and use it like that for a display I wish I could have some of those if you ever want to sell I am here ...love Selena I watch her also she finds some of the greatest things also..

Those slips were scratchy!
What great memories!

Sounds so pretty.
The pink and green velvet ribbons are an ice cream coloured dream! x
Great flowers for vintage hats!

That’s so neat!
Lovely find. I can’t wait to see what you do with them. I can see you using all those tiny flowers in all your assemblies you make.

Those daises took me right back to my childhood! 🌼
I love millinery flowers!💕💕 You found some great ones.
The ribbons are the yummiest colors , and that's a nice selection of flowers.
Oh wow! I'm jealous. What a cool box of millinery!
I’m happy to see the variety of beautiful flowers 💐
Great finds, I
believe the needle box is for gramophone needles, they are called stylus. 🇬🇧
Yes, I think so too.

I did not know the strawberry would sharpen the needles! Just thought it was for storing/keeping. Learned something today! Never too old!
I believe it’s filled with emery for cleaning and sharpening.

Interesting! TY
That box of posies brought back memories.

I think they might have been part of a shaving set or dresser set.
Beautiful flowers 💐. TFS
😊👍
I wonder if you might be able to steam the flowers, using a kettle. Hello from England x
That’s a good idea. I rinsed one under water and it is highly dyed.
They had special irons for shaping the flowers I wonder if a clover mini iron would do it ? I got mine from the craft store .
Really neat.🥳
Hi, Beautiful find this weekend. Happy 4th🇺🇸
Happy 4th to you!
Great Millenary Flowers. They’re good for crafting.

I think I will run them underwater to help unfold them.

The night gown sounds beautiful. I’d hang it on the back of a door on a pretty hanger.

I washed a piece of velvet ribbon once and it got a rough texture.
I used to volunteer at a thrift shop and the men didn't see the value in these type items and would through them away, painful to know they went in a landfill.
It was a man who sold them to me!

it's so pretty all together!
👍💕
Love it all!! Happy Independence day.
Hey! Save to you. Have fun!
I would keep all the things together in the box it was so lovely and use it like that for a display I wish I could have some of those if you ever want to sell I am here ...love Selena I watch her also she finds some of the greatest things also..
Keeping them in the box together sounds like a great idea. I thought the same about Selena’s. I wish she would sell some!
They looked so pretty in the box all together I would keep them on my dresser...
I bet Scott from "The old curiosity shop" would love to have those needles from that box. He has old record players....
I’ll save them for him.
How do u unwrinkle? Steamer?
