UPDATE : According to Spanish media, Vingegaard has been released from the intensive care unit in Vitoria and will possibly be transferred by medical plane to Denmark, so Mr. Claus Vingegaard will probably be able to see his son at last.
I'm a 72 years old cycling fan from Sri Lanka. I was watching the race when Vingegaard crashed. He's one of my favorites. I'm definitely sure that he would have won the Tour de France if he had not crashed. I pray for his speedy recovery. May God bless him.❤❤❤❤❤. Get well soon my son.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏.
I would say that this pneumothorax injury is very serious, and if anyone says otherwise you haven't a clue. If his father hasn't been able to speak to him YET, it's very serious indeed.
Yeah its bad. Depends how hard he hit and how much internal damage he did. I did the same and Dr's said they only see injuries like mine in high speed car crashes. Took me 18months to get my old level back. Being a young pro athlete prob a lot faster for him, as they often surprise me. But yeah his season could well be over.
Wow, you didn't call JV the usual and hilarious names you would when he's at 110%. I respect you for not kicking the rider when he's down and out in the hospital.
@@cyclinghighlights it just shows that beeing strong and doing everything right is never enough in high lvl sports. you need all of the former and also luck to stay healthy. who knows how many tours bernal could have won if he wasnt hit by a truck. and everyone who had a crash himself will know that given this injuries vingegaard will never decent the same and will never ride the same. it is just a fact no matter how the money guys behind visma want to try to tell you otherwise in the future. this kind of accidents shape people for life.
"Slapping his Danish herring across the faces of his rivals instead of cleaning fish in a factory" ... almost chocked on my burger LMAO ... such poetry !
While I would love to see Pogacar win the big stage races again (very slight possibility of all 3 grand tours in a single year), this is not how I would want it to come his way (and I'm sure that he feels the same). I hope for a quick recovery for all those involved in that horrendous crash. High level competition is what makes cycling great.
I suppose that pnemothorax is only a part of the injury. The worst part is a lung contusion during blunt trauma. It really can be dangerous . I wish all the best to all injured riders, not only from Itzulia Basque Country but from all these year races so far.
The race organizers are the ones responsible to keep the racers safe. It seems they map out the route to make more crashes. It's as if they are begging for them to crash. I haven't seen more crashes in cycling This has to be the worst year ever
The title of the video is a bit alarmist. He will eventually recover; he's still fairly young; and even if 2024 is in doubt, he will compete again if that's what he wants to do. I agree it's inexcusable to exclude his family out of the loop. It's only a cycling team; not his whole existence. I'll be happy to see him happy and healthy again; on the bike or off. He's given me enough entertainment for one lifetime.
That picture of Jonas cutting up the watermelon.... bravo sir. That made the video. Honestly though I think if you watch 1 or 2 videos on your channel, people might think you're a hater just spewing nonsense rumors about cyclists. But it really comes off that, despite cycling being a dirty sport, and a lot of riders themselves mucking around in the filth, you really do care about their well-being.
Sorry to say this, but I think Jonas will never be the same rider. He should be happy to be alive, to survive and to make a normal life with his family. But I'm afraid his injuries are so bad that he won't be able to race at the highest level, physically and mentally. 😞
The good news is that Jonas will be fine. The bad news is that top level cycling requires so much of your physiology that returning to the top is unknown. Lemond, Bernal and Alaphillipe had devastating injuries too and they recovered to a high level.
Does anyone ever think that maybe these directors of the race do this on purpose to create more drama and headlines for the sport. Or is it purely laziness and gross negligence??? I am referring to road safety.
Adam Hanson has apparentlly also tweeted that hes gping to recoomend that every descent in all races is heavily padded each side of the road with king size mattresses, that ensures the riders can still take extra risks at high speed but without the risk of serious injury.... Another birght idea ..
