Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we have family visiting for Christmas and get into the holiday spirit! We continue clearing the chateau property and visit Paris for the Christmas markets!
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!

Hint for removing ivy : take your loppers, seceteurs or sharp implement and go around the bottom of the walls and cut as close to the ground as possible. Then wait. When the ivy had died and dried off, it's easy to pull off and burn. Spray the roots with herbicide to kill it off for good. Nothing good ever comes from growing ivy. Merry Christmas xx
Avoid any chemicals. Not necessary. Ivy is excellent for pollinators, flowering in late autumn. So please allow it to grow where it won't damage buildings. Up trees, or as ground cover, for example.
@@dannetterousseau4095 Pls look up the benefits of Ivy. Good if planted in the right place.
If you burn the ivy...make sure it doesn't havevany poison ivy in it...when burning do not inhale the smoke..my husband did and became very sick from the fumes off the poison ivy..
Let it dry out on powdery damaged walls you will cause very little damage when you pull it down as it has released its grip by then ,ivy is a good plant for nature ,bees,hibernating insects and flower arrangers but not masonry and roofs where massive damage will be caused by it's expanding growth.
Every one of God’s plant creations fulfills a purpose, including ivy! Just don’t let it take over a building.
I also love that fountain Ian. I so adore Paris. You two are living my dream. Now I am an older woman (turned 70 in September) and with my maladies I can't travel and see it again. We have had an unusual weather event here in the states with below normal temps. In the northern states it’s a disaster with 25 deaths due to freezing temps and loss of power and some stranded in cars. Here in north Georgia our lows have been in the single digits which doesn’t happen. Some water issues due to frozen pipes, luckily I was spared of any trouble. Hopefully you all are warm in the chateau and enjoying your sweet family.

Thank you! The chateau is only 30 minutes from us by car, so we drive into Paris pretty often. If our viewers are interested in seeing more of it then we can show bits and pieces every now and then 😊

10’ Celsius equals 50°F or so, I live in Canada we keep our homes at about 28 to 30°F. We wouldn’t consider a heavy jacket at 50’f. I’m having a hard time with this one. Don’t know if I have this right just thinking?

Masons are actually finishing to rebuild the collapsed vaulted cellings. All little Chapels are already renovated. The big organ is a work in progress.

AH!!!! It's so COOL that you also felt. They look SO good!! Congratulations! I also just started, but it was a flying start! My items are not so well finished off as yours. I had to make 10 owls, 10 sheep, 10 lions for kids in Kazakstan in 6 weeks time, where my daughter, your age, is teaching Biology. They send us presents, now we must send them back some. When I look at the chateau vlogs I always spot my favourite rooms where I will set up my 7 hand weaving looms, 3 spinning wheels, 2 circular knitting machines and now my felting and punch needle station. UHM, and the sewing and ironing room must be next door! And a coffee station near by, otherwise, I must be far from the kitchen not to be tempted to take snack breaks! Haha!! You look just like my other Canadian friend, have the same features and nature. You must be family. Hehe! Karissa's parents is from Italy who went to Canada to set up a third party law firm.
Your chateau and two others I'm watching, have the perfect artistic and crafters feel/atmosphere for my dream life.....Oh yes!! Yours is the only one where I can imagine putting my concert piano and have many glorious chamber music concerts and piano concerto's performances.
