It is possible to make a larger skirt out of what is available in rare cases. First of all, you need to look at how much margin there is in the side seams. What is the reserve on the belt, is it enough to fit around the waist? Next, you should pick up the seam and see if there are holes from the needle, it will be clear that the product is placed.
If it is a denim skirt, there is no use in ripping it apart, just cut it off, since the stitching inside will be a different color. To fit into your favorite skirt, you will have to add another fabric. There are ways to make repairs unnoticeably, as if they were there.
I suggest looking at an option that will not only increase the size of the skirt, but also decorate it. This method can achieve an increase of several sizes.
Since I have a denim skirt, I will cut it along the side seams. To increase the size, I took thick beige knitwear, the thickness of the fabrics is approximately the same.
I measured my hip circumference and the hip circumference of my skirt. I will add this difference. I'm missing 8 cm, so I'll add it on a knitwear insert.
To do this, on the front part of the skirt, I retreated 5 cm along the side seams, and 7 cm from the waist line. I drew a line and cut off the excess.
I transferred this cut-off part to the knitwear and added centimeters to increase the size. It is important not to forget about allowances. The knitted insert inside should be larger than the cut off front of the skirt.
Placed the skirt piece on the insert and marked the contact points on both parts.
First I connected the top seam and stitched.
Then I made notches on the knitwear in the corners, not reaching the end of the line 1.5 mm, unfolded the insert and stitched along the sides.
That's how it happened. I laid a finishing stitch along the knitwear.
I basted the side seams and tried on the skirt. At this stage, it is necessary to eliminate all shortcomings, if any. Then I stitched.
I sewed on the facing of the belt.
The updated skirt looks stylish and modern, it has become looser and fits better. And knitwear gives even more comfort.
