I hate people trying to criticize and compare her to Lupone when Bette was just as good she’s clinging on to desperation and want it for herself under the guise of doing it for her daughter it’s exactly how rose is portrayed even Julie Styne who made the music of the original show loved the movie and Bette as rose

Bette Midler should win an award for being the actress with the best use of her hands in acting. Any movie you watch with her in the cast you will notice that she moves her hands to accentuate whatever she is doing or whatever point she is making along with her body and voice in the dialogue or songs
