  • We surprised our daughter with a Nubian dairy goat for her Sweet 16 Birthday. After having Lamancha dairy goats with short gofer ears; we were all excited to have a long dangly eared goat on the homestead. We bought a black Nubian goat with long dangly grey ears that extend at least an inch beyond their muzzle. She was only 6 weeks old so it was an adjustment for everyone on the homestead.
Our established goat herd definitely knew she was new and they were not quick to accept her into the herd. After a week or so things had calmed down some and the head butting had gotten better but she is definetly still adjusting to being apart of the Fisher Priceless Homestead herd.
Nubian goats are are a British breed of domestic goats and does typically weigh at least 135 pounds. They make wonderful dairy goats and are known for their high butterfat content and can be used for a large scale milk production in dairy and cheese making. Nubian has more flavor than those with lower butterfat content. Some producers use Nubians in goat meat production.
