@88 88 most hotels (in area's that are likely to be hit by hurricanes, and a fair few that aren't) follow strict safety guidelines in their construction to ensure that they are more than capable of withstanding a full blown hurricane, because A it's the law in most places, and B it fucking expensive to build a hotel, and it ain't worth rebuilding, even if you do have insurance (which you probably won't if it isn't up to scratch), so as long as you keep all the storm shutters closed, (except for those areas where you spend most of your time) then it won't be a problem (if most of the storm shutters are open nasty things can start to happen, such as loosing the roof and water damage)
Quite frankly if there is a legitimate zombie apocalypse in progress chances are the planetary weather systems are so effed up too that category 5 and beyond hurricanes will be a common occurrence. You will want a sturdy shelter.
and how is that useful if the power grid is down yea are ya going to relocate teh security monitors to a room thats safe and comfortable and teh wires ya got a supply of wires to connect and hide cause if someone who has evil intentions walks in they first thing they will see is teh wires hey i wonder whats in this room with all these wires Breech it

@@yukinagato6761 You're making this harder than it is and you're adding scenarios that originally weren't in the equation. this was under the premise that you just so happen to stumble upon an UNOCCUPIED hotel. Survivalist 101: Get a laptop with solar powered case and download all of the schematics and UA-cam videos that you need. You have access to as wealth of info with or without internet or power. Mega Stalin hall waste are usually semi thin too so if u got enough guns and people after killing enough zombies it can choke the hallway up with all the bodies making them slower
Con: Making a hotel safe for your survival is an ardous and dangerous progress. Each an every room must be checked out to make sure that they are 100% clear.
You only have to clear and secure the first floor (and wherever you want to stay) immediately. The remaining floors can be cleared as fast or slow as you are capable of handling. Each room wouldn't be packed with zombies. Most rooms would have 5 or less depending on how family friendly the hotel is.
when we think of zombie apocalypse, we think of we hiding from them and don't let them know, but they can also be somewhere we don't know and that is dangerous
If you have taken up residence in a tall hotel that just so happens to be near a shoreline, @@clothar23, you might be able to steal one or more boats or ships so you can use to acquire more fuel via whatever oil tankers that may more or less drift by. If you happen to have the extreme luck of having an oil refinery nearby and the know-how to do so then this should not be too much of an issue for you. As for noise... you do not have too much to worry about early on, especially if you can secure the hotel for yourself, your group of people, or clan. Most people will be way too busy killing each other to take notice of your still-running hotel at daytime. At night time, yeah that will pose multiple problems all at once. Now if you can have a bunch of trustworthy friends, clanmates, and/or others to help you out then that hotel should become your long term Apocalypse shelter. This is even more true if said hotel is beach front property.
Your assuming that soem average rag tag team of survivors know how to kick that on. usually there is a manual . but that assumes the rag tag group knows where it is . You assume rag tag team goes ok we know how to get that back up running opps they try and it catches fire and maybe BOOM
If you’re going to make a farm, it’s a good idea to plant some sunflowers as well, as they absorb toxic metals and radiation; which there might be a lot of in this type of situation.
@Ironclaw XII It depends on how many people are using the hotel as a hideout. You talk as if the hotel is going to be full up, but if you have, say 7 people, they might have enough boxed and canned food to last for a very long time, maybe years if the hotel was a big one with a restaurant in it. I worked in a hotel years ago. Unless it's a super swanky hotel where the chef is well known, they're using at least some packaged ingredients.
I was at a hotel that had this kitchen and it had food but sense it’s popular they probably have food that is in the back room so that would be an ok spot to camp for a little
Bro imagine being on a cruise when a zombie apocalypse happens. That would be terrifying shit. You can't escape anything, youd need to bunk down somewhere, and even then eventually you'd run out of food, fuel, and everything would end in disaster
xSurvivor7x I think it would be good provided you had plenty of fuel and someone/a staff of people who knew how to take care of and operate a cruise ship. I don’t think the average person has a lot of that kind of specialized knowledge, which could really bite you in the ass in the long term.
@@xSurvivor7x There was a case recently where a cruise ship lost power and could not restart its generators. It was a nightmare for the passengers. The sanitation stopped working since there was no power for the pumps so washrooms quickly became unusable. Kitchens could not be operated and the fridges started thawing. Desalination and filtration systems stopped working so fresh water started running out. It took them a while to get the some of the passengers off and the rest had to wait till they could get to port. Also sea water has a tendency to wreck ships that are not constantly maintained. A cruise ship would probably stop being safe for people pretty quick in an apocalypse.
Cons of living in a Hotel: 1. There's a risk of someone sneaking in and killing you and if you go into a isolated hotel you need to check every room, look for resourses and not die. 2. You have to clean every room of black mold and such so you can stay there at all.
@@Psychedelicxxx The sea salt in the air would probably stop the black mould from spreading, although it can also deteriorate the overall structure faster, as it rusts metal.
One extra positive for surviving in a Hotel is furniture, tons of furniture! Furniture can be used to barricade entries and exits and help secure the location and create choke points for defense scenarios. Just my little two cents. Love the videos!
Just make makeshift fires and wooden stakes around the hotel. It worked for that one dude in the walking dead. You notice there wasn't a lot of chairs tables etc but a lot of trees. Yup dude went to work maxing carpentry in project zomboid style. He literally had brain deas zombies impaling themselves on thr wooden stakes.
1 hotspot. also good luck fighting the military. only good if you're willing to live under their thumb, and even then it's likely to fall at some point. 2 alternative care site. hotspot. have to fight the military again. most likely place for the infection to first enter your area. 3 extremely good depending on your skillset. plus: has all resources required for an entire empire. minus: requires many skills to use any of them. 4 take every downside he mentioned for hotels in this video, add several more, and delete every upside. too much can go wrong trying to control an entire city without a well laid out plan. just to take control in the first place would require years even in my best case scenario. (one of my plans in the case of a total societal breakdown is to take control of my city. it would be a 9 stage plan over the course of over 5 years at the very least. more likely decades if i'm being realistic.)
what about how to stay sane in a zombie apocalypse? especially after seeing your loved ones turn into one of them? or how to arrange a survival group in a zombie apocalypse?
I dont see how anyone coudl stay sane ya kid brother is looking at ya like a bag of doritoes . ya kid sister thinks ya look like a box of cap crunch . Mom things its taht lovely frito pie and dad is liek oh a walking beer
I like the how to arrange a survival group idea, there's so many ideas going into it. should you have a leader? how do you deal with betrayers? how do you deal with new people? This would be a great vid!
DaliRet there are so many more factors. Who knows how to do what. How many in your group. Is it possible to secure an area that can sustain all of you. How trustworthy are they to admit to being bitten in an attack. Do they know how the zombies act. An ideal group is 4-5 with each of you having knowledge of gun use and cleaning. Remember, guns can jam if not maintained. You want at least three members to know how to filter water. At least three have irrigation knowledge. At least 2 knowing basic carpentry. Best idea? You wanna procure that knowledge. Hit the library first. While you’re bugging out with your group grabbing those books will be a fundamental idea. Course if you have a solar charger and a tablet you can save that info in it ahead of time, then write it down later if needed. Prep should be two weeks carry supplies, and a location you can fortify with more supplies. Say your own built fort with land procured? Unlikely, but a long term plan to consider. If you do, make practice runs there.
The biggest issue overall is definitely going to be access. As a hotel manager I’ll tell you there are so many keys for different doors… in case of a electrical emergency (or total shutdown) the doors don’t just automatically unlock. Sorry guys. You still need “powerdown” keys to open the doors. Let’s start with hoping you can find the front office and lock box for all the keys 😩😩😩 hotels aren’t playing with security these days and have no plan for a zombie apocalypse 😂😂😂😭😭😭 (and just to clarify, when I say keys I’m talking about the RFID electric/magnetic keys)
@@Roadent1241 they could all use the same frequency which could be be known but there's a code that alternates in a specific pattern. Car fobs for example use the same frequency but you still need to setup a new fob to match the code pattern which is why you can't just use a new one immediately. Also why you shouldn't be able to use one car fob on another of the same make and model. If their power is still running I'd grab a custodians key since they probably have a secondary master key card. If the powers out i'd be too creeped out to go into a hotel with zombies lol
You only need a master key though, and most hotels will keep a spare master key somewhere accessible, like in the till. The actual doors themselves will be battery operated, they'll run out eventually, but you'll have time to find time to permanently disable the locks before the batteries run out.
Here is a fun one, is a Historical Castle Good for Zombie Survival? Specifically I am referring to those ones that aren't crumbling ruins, for instance near where I live there is an old star fort with a moat that is still well maintained and complete with a heavy wooden gate.
Shadiversity thinks a zombie virus wouldn't have gotten far in medieval times due to the way cities and even standalone residences were often walled-off. Much of that is lost nowadays, but there are still some old castles around that may still have some of their defensive features. I think they might be an ok option, if you happen to be in Europe at the time of an outbreak.
Chances are, if an apocalypse breaks out near one of those castles, then a bunch of people might go there because of how fortified they are. So they might be good eventually but not at the start of an apocalyptic situation.
Ski resorts are a better option there large, remote, and surrounded by tons of natural resources. Depending on the location you could defend the area well and build a community to survive for centuries. Building on the coast leaves you vulnerable to natural disasters and climate change.
Vonnie Stewart I was just thinking that!!! The other advantages are that there would be ways to hunt since you’re surrounded more by wildlife, they’re harder to get to because of the location, if you know the area enough it would be great to go looting and while it might be a bitch and a half to make the trek over and back constantly, it’ll also be safer. There would also be medical supplies, some ski resorts have emergency power and gas, and they are spacious but small enough to where you can secure the place. Plus if you’re good with skiing it would make for a quick escape and they have radio communications so if you HAVE to get in contact there’s that too. Vantage point would also be key as it would be tall enough to look around, and if say you see a horde or a truck load of people, it’ll give you time to escape. The possibilities seem really good honestly :)
Here's some other scenarios: 1) Are Submarines GOOD in a Zombie Apocalypse? 2) Are Oil Platforms GOOD in a Zombie Apocalypse? 3) Are Zoos GOOD in a Zombie Apocalypse? 4) Are Water Towers GOOD in a Zombie Apocalypse? 5) Are Bridges GOOD in Zombie Apocalypse? You blow up both ends and zombies can't jump the gaps. 6) Are Light Houses GOOD in a Zombie Apocalype?
@@X3HH76 I mean your not wrong but depending on the bridge some might still work if u blow of the 2 ends of the bridge but if u fucked it up you better be a good swimmer 😂
if I was in a hotel, I'd definitely just secure the top 5 floors and the roof, just stay there. too easy to barricade the staircases with furniture and block off the elevators. you said it yourself, grow crops, raise chickens and small game, build water collection sites and with enough noise discipline, people wouldnt even know you were there.

A remote hotel, inn or lodge, on the beach, on a lake or in a forest, that is far removed from any big cities would be perfect. Shelter, proper beds, either fishing or hunting or both and if you're on a beach or on a lake you would probably have a good view all around and would be able to see if a herd zombies or bandits were approaching. In remote hotels you usually will find a lot of canned foods.
Thinking about this. Best hotels for a zombie apocalypse? Small country hotels. Take the Kirkmichael Hotel in the highlands of Scotland. I worked there for about 3 years and it seems ideal in any apocalypse situation. - in a small village in the Scottish highlands with a population of
One thing most people don’t take into account, they don’t know how to hunt. You’ll end up scaring everything away far before you even get close enough to shoot them.
@@yeshacroe9354 you'd have to know how to build shelters and farm/hunt to live on an island, the vast majority of people can't do any of that. Odds are you think it's a good idea just you're just guaranteeing eventually you're going to have to swim back to the mainland once your gas spoils (gas expires, btw) and then you're spending necessary calories every couple of days just to swim back to find supplies. Terrible idea.
@@NottherealLucifer So make sure you get either a rowboat or sailboat rather than a motorboat. You won't have a quick getaway anymore, but if you arrange things right with the boat, you could make it quick enough. Run up to the boat, untie it from the pier and throw the line in the water, jump off the pier, retrieve the rope and tow the boat away from the zombies, get in and row home.
Pro: lots of windows effectively making any window a space to grow plants like tomatoes, also the roof would be a good place too if you could get enough dirt up there
Many plants dont cope with windows that well, specialy tomatoes. Btw one tomato plant needs 1L (One bottle) of water almost every day. To survive on tomatoes you will need at least 10 plants. I would know i have 4 plants right now. Ppl and their optimism when it comes to growing food. XD Fishing on an island and growing food there and having chickens is lot better idea.
Here's a question: At what point do the zombies who are eating a living person stop munching because the living person has finished turning into a zombie?

I feel like any good compound can survive something like that, so long as EVERYONE puts and KEEPS their heads together, and works together all the time. In a situation like that teamwork will literally make the dream work. Work together to secure a more-than-stable perimeter around your base, and have systems in place for every event.
A family group, or a gathering of family groups, that put their minds to this before the SHTF situation happened could make an incredible go of the Walking Dead scenario. That's why we don't see those groups in the Walking Dead. No drama, business as usual, nobody losing their minds under the pressure so there wouldn't be much of an audience in television terms.
Pro: with a water filtration device, it would be easier to get water when needed. Con: if the first floor gets overran by a horde, you go to the second floor - and so do they. You’ll eventually run out of floors and be stuck.
basically the situation all zombie protagonists are forced into. i guess just watch any zombie media for your answer. the main drawback is the lack of consistency. sometimes you'll hit the jackpot and be sitting pretty for days. other times you'll starve, or thirst, or walk in on a gunfight. also this lifestyle only really works for small groups. if you're the "ten or less" type, it'll be better than if you're the "more the merrier" type. i'm personally a fan of starting a small country if possible, so i'd never go nomadic.
Clash Bluelight not to mention the chances of “getting right into the mouth of the Lion”, either Negan type of guys or a huge horde, while your wandering around. Also, nomadic life is extremely tough for the two main of “risk groups”, elders and children’s. One can argue that “if is too old this would be natural selection”, now kids... in order to really survive, and I mean really long term survival, you are forced to had child’s. Is in our basic instincts, in order to “feel right” we NEED to see human race as something that will outlive ourselves, otherwise everybody will go nuts. Something like “what’s the point? Why bother if there is no future” of course in the face of “immediate danger” everyone will have this “mindset” of SURVIVING NOW, the real problems comes with the real questions that came later on, once you are already settle and your basics needs are covered. Also, also, is the only way to “beat the zeds”, at one point their “reproduction cycle” will be extremely low, we humans may be able to outlive them if we can get the weel rolling again though reproduction. Little child’s in a nomadic life? It certainly can be done (has been done in the past of course), now are we capable of adapt? The present human can really get adapted to that? At some point we will need to settle down in order to thrive, just like our ancestors did.
I recall reading that the whole reason we've evolved as we have and how he have not only survived but have thrived since cave man days is the fact we started settling down for at least large chunks of our lives. Neanderthals were nomadic and they slowly either died off or assimilated with homosapiens. Nomadic is cool and if you're lucky you can survive for a long time.
@@lucianodominguez1296 a lot of what you say here is absolutely correct. many "nomadic" groups famous for thriving on a nomadic lifestyle actually just bounced between a few places. such as merchant caravans, seasonal grazers, and even the horseback raiders who eventually became the mongols. because these groups settled down for long periods of time between trips and always followed the same predictable paths, they were able to solve a few of the problems you mentioned. but they all did eventually settle down as soon as they had the chance.
I know this is pretty late, but I think a major con for me would be the tight spaces. It would take only one zombie to push you against a wall and easily infect you, while you are either trying to hold down the hotel or clear it out.

You should do a video where you have people in the comments tell you their plans/what they would do in an apocalypse then the next video you would discuss whether it’s a good plan or not. Idk
One Pro you might have missed: personal stuff. If your fleeing the hotel because oh no the world's ending, you leave stuff behind. There might even be safes. A con, zombies locked in their own rooms or just infesting the building in general.
I think good ideas for videos would be something along the lines of: "Types of barriers/ways to fortify" "Ways to avoid a hoard" "How to properly be ready for a Z-crisis(supplies etc.)" "How to travel in a Z-crisis"
If you could create a method of moving from floor to floor with a rope ladder and seal off the stairs and elevators, they wouldn't be bad. One of the things we don't see in zombie films is massive fires. Most cities would burn to the ground because any fire would get out of control and move to neighboring buildings.
@@snapmyneck8818 Sort of. Although the fish, most of the time, is dead already and the parasite takes it over and moves it. Some species of worm invade caterpillars and use them until they die. Nature is really fascinating and cruel at the same time. Zomebie fish are real and disgusting.
Hotels like buildings have the problem that they cath fire and then it is just hell because there are NO rescue services available. Also, their basement can be flooded. Also, hotels have lots of cars and lots of emergency equipment like fire extinguisers and alarms and other things like flashlights that can be taken away to another location (looting later on) Also, they have generators and ICE maker machines. Also, in hotels you may find maps and things about local places that may be looted later. Besides the things in the rooms, you can also find things in their security rooms, which may include guns, tazers, etc. Also, for certain, RADIOS. Also, you can find batteries and a list of things that some guest may be used to asking for like, baby things, even medical equipment for emergencies like defribilators, and other stuff like that (if it is a good hotel).
I've worked at a couple hotels and the door locks are battery powered so they don't all just unlock if there's an outage. Your best bet would be to look in the back office for master keys which would get you into every room. There's also tools to gain entry in case a room is manually locked from within. Usually that will be in their maintenance office.
To be honest if i was in the middle of a zombie apocalypse after a few months or a year id start ransacking luxury hotels or houses instead of the usually common targets like wallmart and such since rich people tends to be rich in loots
What about reviewing objects rather than places? (i.e. duct tape, guns, chain saw, bike, chain mail, cars, etc.) Lots of objects seem like good ideas, but might not be on further inspection.
I'd be more worried about human bandits than the undead. Video games taught me that people will be absolute monsters when there's no fear of social consequences.
Hotel depends entirely on your group/skill level. First step is securing ground entrance and going through every single room on every single floor at least two or three times. If you can do that and take on whatever horde is lurking, you're absolutely set (probably for life, as long as you guard the ground floor well). Long term, you might also be able to start a new city in your safe zone, keeping it better protected (secure perimeter in the future for fish, start a farm while you feed off preexisting supplies. Maybe you'llbe lucky enough to have a fertilized chicken egg or two to incubate). But if you can't tear through possibly hundreds of zombies... better to avoid it
Seriously man I've been following you for a while and love your content. You had a video from a little while ago mentioning trying to expand your content and create original stuff that deviates from the Zombie stuff. I'll support your stuff regardless, keep up the great work and thanks for continuing making entertaining content. Cheers
An additional pro is that because there is so many rooms and so much space in each one you have lots of space to set up traps, whether they're simple wires/cloth lines to trip zombies or people or if they're some sort of explosive or bladed trap- you just need to remember them. Also in the case of people breaking in after you've set it up you have *lots* of space to try and hide in while you also know the layout better to maybe pull off some sort of stealthy kill on them.
That’s why I still think Home Depot or Lowe’s is a good place, no media like movies/tv ever expand those places, people will go to other places before they think of going there, and by then you’ll most like have secured it
Maybe, maybe not. Lowe's and Home Depots tend to be around major population centers because they want customers. Maybe not downtown New York in population size, but it'd be a trip into town at least. And a lot of people are going to try and fortify their homes, which means building supplies, which means Lowe's and Home Depots, so I think it may end up being a hot spot, even if not as often discussed. Also between loading docks and other entrances, it would need a good sized team and time to lock that all down. Building barricades? Need time. Get there early? The police gets called for a breaking and entering with a side order of destroying property. Get there later, say hi to everyone else fortifying. Get there much later, either it's picked clean or someone else has it locked down. Still, if the supplies are there, barricades would be fast with the supplies and hardware/tools. Decent weapons between landscaping tools and mcguyver weapons. Although, a caveat on melee weapons, hope you've been working that cardio, because that drains your stamina faster than you think. Just something people tend to forget about... if you can't climb a few flights of stairs without getting winded... melee weapons are not a good primary weapon for you... yet. A "oh !" backup weapon just to get away, but not for crowds. And some of those stores holds a surprisingly large food section as well. So you'd have a good start in that field. I don't know, I could go either way on this one, what do you think?
Geongsik Lee one other benefit is they tend to have home and garden sections too, with materials to build and maintain potted plants or makeshift soil beds for farms on the roof. This would of course increase their hotspot potential.
I think if you had a group, and you went AFTER everyone were ronafied you could take the hotel depending on where it is. some hotels are located near airports which aren't "in the city"
@@ZMZreloaded I live somewhere near an airport but the hotel is across the airport and the main city is 20 minutes away and I live 15 minutes away and there is no hot spots near there.

Maybe the zombie virus, instead of killing them, messes with their brains like rabies? In that situation just go up north and wait until the next spring

Best of all it has a loot box mechanic to enhance my experience even more by adding another exciting chance based layer to the game! Two week ago I spend all my money becoming a Raid Shadow Legend. Now I live in a dumpster outside a McDonald’s with free WiFi. At night I sneak into the McDonald’s like my new raccoon dad, Stripey, taught me to do so I can charge my phone. A hotel would be best used as a base for a larger group as it could serve as a large near permanent location. Large groups can guarantee its security inside and out and a large group could make quick work of the large number of zombies, a solo would have difficulty maintaining control of such a large facility and could be easily overwhelmed in the event of trying to clear it.
The best possible places in a zombie Apocalypse would have to be remote off grid locations where people have learned to subsist in an isolated setting. Mountainous regions would definitely be preferable for people who have adapted to that kind of environment.
@@ultranero2678 people who live in an isolated setting have learned how to make their OWN resources, water, food, maintenance. it's not like they go every sunday to a supermarket like us
No: In a hotel, all movement barring the lobby are in confined spaces. If you are stuck on a floor with a zombie, a killer, a robber, etc, you are in trouble. You could literally be sleeping feet away from someone in the hotel bound to kill you. The hotel’s conditions in spring/summer will become unbearable without maintenance. Motels are just as bad. Easy, 1 dimensional escape. (Get out of the room and you are good.) Easier to manage. Motel desk workers are also more likely to have a gun. However, easy to penetrate from all angles. Low supplies. Essentially, all the pros and cons you see from the motel “base” from the Telltale walking dead game (seen in season 1, the best season.)
I wanna ask if factories would be a good idea... i mean with all the heavy equipments youll ever need for any defensive constructions except itll need a lot of fuel and power along with food and manpower but i feel like itll be good if you can handle food and its manpower capabilites and endless metal supplies... i mean theres a lot of cars around and if you captured a recycling factory then youll have fuel to operate and the metal to barracade Edit: food factories will have the food and trucks in exchange for the crafting/construction capabilities but dont go stealing my idea
Retreating to a higher floor of the hotel is akin to trapping yourself in an inescapable prison. A horde would mean the end of anybody trapped inside a hotel as they would inevitably run out of water and be faced with having to escape through the horde which in pretty much every case would result in death. Hordes are also going to be more frequent around areas that have hotels. Tall buildings in general are a big no. You need something that is easy to escape from and ideally some sort of early warning system in place so you can leave when a horde is nearby.
Well like you said, it depends on where you are in the timeline of the apocalypse. If it's late in the game after everything has broken down, an abandoned hotel may still be a good choice if you are willing to clean house of the zombies that may still be in there. I think the best way to utilize a hotel is with a large group (which a hotel would accommodate easily) that way you have many people and a pool of talent / resources at your disposal to both maintain and defend your environment.
W3ll, first of all I really liked the video! I love this series of yours and I appreciate the work you you put into it :) keep up it the awsome work! Now, second, what about surviving in one of those roadside Diners? A lot of games and mabie show or two have included them in as possible survival location Some of them even have gas stations nearby
I think in a VERY long term situation (like in the walking dead) where everything went to shit long ago, if you have the resources and manpower to clear the hotel out of any remaining zombies it would make for a good "late game" place to set up a more long term community. "Early game" though (when people are still looking for treatment and emergency care/protection) I agree it would be a terrible choice to go to a hotel to escape a zombie apocalypse. To clarify by "early game" I mean the first few months assuming the virus wasnt able to be contained. "Late game" would be a year+ after everything went to shit and youre trying to start to rebuild a hotel I think would make for good choice as a sort of stronghold where you could build around it and in the event of an attack by zombies or other people would make for good defensive position for your community to fall back to.
Yes, this youtube channel has missed the fact that some buildings can be really good late game since the con "hot spot" wouldn't be a thing anymore after a year or so
Con: if you dont check the entire hotel carefully, youre most likely to get surprised by some zombies. And if there are zombies hidden in the hotel and run into you, theres not many places for you to go since theres not really much open space due to all those halls.
SOPO THE VIBE you could be trapped in a cave if the entrance collapsed. Besides if zombies or other survivors made it in then you wouldn’t have anywhere to escape to.
I work doing maintenance in a 4 floors hotel and it might sound stupid to think about a zombie apocalypse but that place would be my "to go" if some serious thing ends up happening. It has like 87 rooms so each couple, family, person could have his /their own personal place and the locks of each room work with AA bateries that last pretty long if you ask me, there's also a lot of home depot like places to make a lot of things (some of them even sell crossbows, axes, machetes and fishing equipment). It has a big gravel area (that was meant to be a parking lot) and a lot of gardens that can be used as to cultivate food. It has a Diesel generator that can be used to light up the whole place in very specific scenarios (not letting it on all the time). It has it's own water well but even if that ended up drying there are a lot a those around. The main problem I see with those kind of places is that's placed in a relative open area so closing it might take some time and work, also. All the first floor windows should be covered to prevent zombies to get in through them
If you had a big group like around 60+ people I think you could really make it work because not all hotels are in highly populated areas and with all of those people you could have guards on the roof and ground floor, you could barricade non-essential floors and set up on like 2 floors. If you have enough people and the right system you could really make it work
I think that once it is clear, you'll likely be fine long term. Use every bucket to collect rain and boil the water, if there are green spaces high up you have farming space. Of course, the farms might only last a few years, depending on usage of things like crop rotation, fallow or clover fields, and other ways of replacing nutrients in the soil. All this means you mighnt need to leave even the top floor, and if the whole building is cleared, its practically normal survival until the zombies fall apart. By the time your fields are failing, you can go out to recover lost tech and begin rebuilding the city you're in.
Pro: Most hotels will have a some sort of a security room with basic guns and ammo or at least batons and those riot sticks. Con: Same could be used against you. Pro: If you can turn lights on or off in certain rooms you can type out SOS Con: Even the unwanted "people" will be able to see it

@Errett Velasquez I guess the question becomes is the risk worth the reward? But I agree
@Brian the Trainer I like the skinwalkers

Big hotels always have kitchens. Probably with a lot of canned foods.

And that's not including the risk of one of the passengers already being infected.
But would a Cruise Ship make a good zombie survival base? Assuming you manage to clear it out.
Has anyone made a movie like that yet? Sounds good.
xSurvivor7x I think it would be good provided you had plenty of fuel and someone/a staff of people who knew how to take care of and operate a cruise ship.
Cons of living in a Hotel:
1. There's a risk of someone sneaking in and killing you and if you go into a isolated hotel you need to check every room, look for resourses and not die.
2. You have to clean every room of black mold and such so you can stay there at all.
Truly don’t think black mold would be at the top of our heads
Black mold isn’t deadly so it shouldn’t be a problem
As long as you are healthy you should survive anyway
@@Psychedelicxxx The sea salt in the air would probably stop the black mould from spreading, although it can also deteriorate the overall structure faster, as it rusts metal.
....why would there be black mold?
One extra positive for surviving in a Hotel is furniture, tons of furniture! Furniture can be used to barricade entries and exits and help secure the location and create choke points for defense scenarios. Just my little two cents. Love the videos!
Not to mention, some of the flower pots or other stuff you don't have to use, you can drop off them off some window and possibly kill a few zombies

People hack things all the time, so it seems, so I imagine for tech-savvy people it's easy to just find the right frequency?
@@Roadent1241 they could all use the same frequency which could be be known but there's a code that alternates in a specific pattern. Car fobs for example use the same frequency but you still need to setup a new fob to match the code pattern which is why you can't just use a new one immediately. Also why you shouldn't be able to use one car fob on another of the same make and model. @@jamjam1 Ah, fair enough. Thank you.
UWOOOOO
You only need a master key though, and most hotels will keep a spare master key somewhere accessible, like in the till. The actual doors themselves will be battery operated, they'll run out eventually, but you'll have time to find time to permanently disable the locks before the batteries run out.

I dont know if it is good but im in Czech republic and theres so many castles here
Shadiversity thinks a zombie virus wouldn't have gotten far in medieval times due to the way cities and even standalone residences were often walled-off. Much of that is lost nowadays, but there are still some old castles around that may still have some of their defensive features. I think they might be an ok option, if you happen to be in Europe at the time of an outbreak.
Yeah I’ve always wondered that everytime I see pictures of castles that are still in good state and has potential
Chances are, if an apocalypse breaks out near one of those castles, then a bunch of people might go there because of how fortified they are. So they might be good eventually but not at the start of an apocalyptic situation.
Nah, cos on the inside you got the medieval ghosts, and I'd rather deal with Zombies than the ghost of some guy who died a few hundred years ago
Ski resorts are a better option there large, remote, and surrounded by tons of natural resources. Depending on the location you could defend the area well and build a community to survive for centuries. Building on the coast leaves you vulnerable to natural disasters and climate change.
Walking dead telltale game 2 had that!

In other words nope 😂

With all of the suggestions asking how good various locations are, I'm wondering the alternative. How GOOD would a nomadic lifestyle be?
basically the situation all zombie protagonists are forced into. i guess just watch any zombie media for your answer. the main drawback is the lack of consistency. sometimes you'll hit the jackpot and be sitting pretty for days. other times you'll starve, or thirst, or walk in on a gunfight. also this lifestyle only really works for small groups. if you're the "ten or less" type, it'll be better than if you're the "more the merrier" type. i'm personally a fan of starting a small country if possible, so i'd never go nomadic.
You want to be nomadic until you find a good place to stay long term.

If you could create a method of moving from floor to floor with a rope ladder and seal off the stairs and elevators, they wouldn't be bad. One of the things we don't see in zombie films is massive fires. Most cities would burn to the ground because any fire would get out of control and move to neighboring buildings.

Hotels like buildings have the problem that they cath fire and then it is just hell because there are NO rescue services available.
Also, their basement can be flooded.
Also, hotels have lots of cars and lots of emergency equipment like fire extinguisers and alarms and other things like flashlights that can be taken away to another location (looting later on)
Also, they have generators and ICE maker machines.

Just break the doors youre using

But if you can't tear through possibly hundreds of zombies... better to avoid it
UA-cam: would you like to see if a hotel is good during a zombie apocalypse?
Me: sure, why not.

You had a video from a little while ago mentioning trying to expand your content and create original stuff that deviates from the Zombie stuff. I'll support your stuff regardless, keep up the great work and thanks for continuing making entertaining content. Cheers
I appreciate that!
@@gln6f I really like how you put a lot of thought into this.
@@christinastein2817 thank you.
Geongsik Lee one other benefit is they tend to have home and garden sections too, with materials to build and maintain potted plants or makeshift soil beds for farms on the roof. This would of course increase their hotspot potential.

But this will make scavenging near impossible so when you run out of resources you would have to travel a long way to get any resources.
@@ultranero2678 Did you miss the part about people learning to subsist in these areas?

I wanna ask if factories would be a good idea... i mean with all the heavy equipments youll ever need for any defensive constructions except itll need a lot of fuel and power along with food and manpower but i feel like itll be good if you can handle food and its manpower capabilites and endless metal supplies... i mean theres a lot of cars around and if you captured a recycling factory then youll have fuel to operate and the metal to barracade
Edit: food factories will have the food and trucks in exchange for the crafting/construction capabilities but dont go stealing my idea
Yes, and great for working on useful skills. Some are easy to secure, some not and more open.
It'll be coming soon 👍
The really only difference for prepping for zombies is that u need more weapons and a bicicle
You have no idea how happy I am that your channel popped up on my recommended 😢

Yes, this youtube channel has missed the fact that some buildings can be really good late game since the con "hot spot" wouldn't be a thing anymore after a year or so
One place I heard a lot of people talking about going to if there was a zombie apocalypse is a military base but I was never sure about it.

Con: if you dont check the entire hotel carefully, youre most likely to get surprised by some zombies. And if there are zombies hidden in the hotel and run into you, theres not many places for you to go since theres not really much open space due to all those halls.
What if you're good at parkour? Wallrunning time!
I’d say underground & caves would be safe. Hotels have flaws given they could be trapped in a event of a fire.
but they have like nothing down there already, difficult to farm and protect and also the whole claustrophobia thing?
caves are kinda a nono but I agree with the underground thing
Caves can colapse 😭
SOPO THE VIBE you could be trapped in a cave if the entrance collapsed. Besides if zombies or other survivors made it in then you wouldn’t have anywhere to escape to.

Zombie Survival Labs: “Are Hotels GOOD in a Zombie Apocalypse?”
Me: “This is more important”
Pro: If you can turn lights on or off in certain rooms you can type out SOS
Con: Even the unwanted "people" will be able to see it
You know a zombie was a gambler before it became a zombie when it goes straight to the casino next to the hotel.
