Fender mirrors scream oldschool Japanese 👍
They look perfect on older cars much like your datsun. The Ferrari Testarossa had an unusual place for its door mirror, they had to place it half way up the windscreen.

I have two Datsuns 1973 620 pickup truck and a 1971 1200 sedan I never knew the history of the fender mirrors until this video I am one of the guys that think they're ugly

In the UK, mirrors are called wing mirrors because they used to be mounted on the wings (fenders) instead of the doors, and the name just stuck.
I actually want to remove the mirrors from my Prodrive RX8 and fit camera's and screens instead.
To me it depends on the car whether fender mirrors are beautiful or ugly, but in general I prefer door mirrors, but I always add the after-market round convex mirrors to my door mirrors to eliminate blind spots.

Very thorough I have built and owned only Sports Cars since I was 16, Bug eye Sprite,Classic mini's, Healey 109-4,plenty of Datsun Z S30's ,lotus Europa. Every single one had Fender Mirrors. They look so Damn COOL.
That was in New England, lots of rain and fog, and people always walked by and knocked them out of position.
Snow frost had to clean them , a pain ,but on nice days they looked Kick-Ass.
Now that I live in Florida, no frost,no snow, not even weeks of rain like in the North East.
I will fit them to my 2 S30 resto mods.
Cause alot of those cons have been chipped away.
They do look Kick Ass on the long nose of the Z.
My brother was a musician in Japan in the 70's. I am considering a fender mirror...the door mirror with the windshield "A" pillar create a huge blind spot blocking pedestrians and parking lines. It may be illegal here in te USA (Hawaii). I also have an old school "Wink" Mirror....no blind spots!

I really like fender mirrors and would love to have it in my car someday, but it would have to be on a 70's or early 80's car, else it will just look terribly weird on later models sold in Brazil.

Fender mirrors are the mirror of choice for drivers who have only one functional eye. For side mirrors, one-eye drivers must move their heads to a greater extent than two-eye drivers do.

Depends on the car. They in my opinion match the Datsun perfectly and also other cars from that era like the Hakosuka or the Kenmeri. Where as they don't look that good on newer cars and on cars from the 90s that were going for more the futuristic look. What I'm basically saying is that if there is chrome on the car or there could be/are hints of they work for me but if not then they not something I would add on.

Fender rearview mirrors were popular in d '70s cars. Especially Japanese cars. :))
I really like that, I think it is in a better position, the style is really better... give a bad boy look for a muscle car like an American sedan.
but if the glasses are so small, it's a little small for my old eyes.
I kind of want fender mirrors now, only issue I see is defrosting them while driving which you probably don't really need to do anyways. Heated fender mirrors I guess is an idea. 74 Celica, it had a drivers side mirror only stock although that is missing. So I think I'll get some for the experience of having them.
I cant imagine a time when cars wont have fender or even wing mirrors. All for the sake of pedestrian safety.

Pop up headlights aren’t used anymore because of pedestrian collision safety as well lol
I could also imagine if you are near sighted, you probably couldn't see the mirror at a far distance.

hay czero for your truck.you can get little round mirrors that are convex and stick on the bottom of your side mirror.it gives you a wide veiw so you can see your blind spot.or just by some towing mirrors that extend out.would look sick with the lift
