@AndrewLucky-mu2zg You have introduced a new dynamic to the discussion (Airlines) but let's confine our deliberations to Entebbe Airport's infrastructure. Kenya and Tanzania never had the problems we had prior to 1986, so they could advance at a great speed although for Tanzania it took much longer due to years of imprisonment under Socialism. On the 18th of December 1996 I transited through Julius Nyerere Airport in Dar es Salaam and it literally had no running water. The bathrooms had big drums of water kept within the toilets' spaces. So comparatively speaking, Entebbe Airport at that time (1996) by far outclassed Julius Nyerere Airport. What's my point then? My point is that each country's progress should be considered against the backdrop of the historical challenges it faced - more like comparing Oranges with Oranges as opposed to Apples, proverbially speaking.
When Western Countries come to Africa, they lecture Africans about "democracy, Human rights and LGBTQ". When China comes to Africa, they build infrastructures like hospitals, schools, roads, bridges, airports etc. That is the fundamental difference between China and western countries.
A few days back I happened to use entebbe express highway and was at the airport. I don’t regret the visa money I paid, toll fee, & any token I gave to my sister at clearance! Thanks to the crew.
It would never have happened without the hand of the Chinese, unfortunately we Africans do not learn or apply the lessons before our eyes. What i am saying is from this road, Uganda should be an expert in building express ways across Africa. Well done Uganda and thank you China
Yep exactly! Africans can’t even build our own expressways, and wonder why we struggle to develop our countries. Even major railways and ports, built by the Chinese, profited by the Chinese, barely used by the general population as these foreign built projected needs to be financed by collecting tolls or other pay to use services. Europeans were building railways from 1700’s 300 years ago 🤦🏾♂️. Yet we struggle to build critical infrastructure in the 21 century. Despite the access to technology, new knowledge and training. Most economists postulate that lack of knowhow is why some countries are developed. Yet in Africa’s case, this theory obviously flies out the window. Because WE DO possess the knowledge, we just, for some reason don’t want to use it to develop.
