Forgive me for being blunt, but what part of this lecture called to/referenced Vedanta or any Vedic knowledge? It was a purely scientific exposition of Dr. Ramachandran's neuroscientific research, wouldn't you agree?

Every time I get a chance to Listen to Dr. V. S. Ramachandran, I do it religiously and it is such a pleasure to listen to him. His talk on Neuro science and Indian art delivered long ago deals with many of the ponts discussed in Q&A session here (there is a You Tube video too). He is one scientist who has done remarkably simple experiments, which is cost effective ( an Indian Tenet) to understand the Brain and its ways of working who has been left out from the list of Nobel Laureates.
I see it as a loss to the Noble institution just as Mahatma Gandhi has been another such person.
Srinivasa Ramanujam is also a case study of Indian Religiousness coupled with Intuition
which led to some remarkable understanding in the field of Mathematics, or maybe he had some form of synesthesia.
Thanks Rajiv ji for this talk . Dr. Ramachandran ji please continue to baffle us with your insight
and May God bless you with lots of Good Health and Happiness.

Superb Video, Rajivjee is a wise man, everyone in the Medical profession is concerned about every part of the human body except the Brain, when was the last time that your Doctor said lets examine your Brain, let do a CT Scan, MRI etc, think about it, Never, so how do we know about the condition of ones brain unless its way too late, example you get a Tumor or worse? Doctors are more concerned about your Heart, Cancer, Diabetes, and High Blood pressure, Stress and so on, never talk about the Brain health ever. Wonder why this is, Heart Health is Brain Health what the heart requires the Brain requires, its very important to get oxygen to the brain all the time.
This is a very eye opening video, the Neuroscientist Dr. Ramachandran is very articulate and to the point.

Human is a complex creation of god. This genius neurologist is explaining is detail from a science prespetive the complex creation of god.. science & spirituality, the twain shall never meet we know that but at the end of the day the unexplained part by science is where the meta physical takes over. Rajivji thanks for this wonderful shower of high level knowledge though your platform and we as normal ordinary mortals feel so enthralled and elevated listening to the experience of the brain functioning unravelled by the one and only Dr. Ramachandran. Great to see Mohandas Pai as part of the crowd.

I had an argument with my wife, who has done masters in Child Development, about the baby’s sexual attachment to its mother which I couldn’t accept (Not because I am an Engineer:-) ) , but now I realize why did she say so. This Fraydian crap is still being part of our academia. I wish this keynote address is shown in AIIMs and all medical colleges.

Wooooooooow ! 29:45 , the thing Dr Ramachandran is saying about boiled down connections in an adult brain are very very related to Nerual Networks used for Machine Learning and AI. The NN seems to learn the nuances of the given dataset by "sculpting down" weights between layers of artificial neurons.

45:03... This creating your own upside down image is createc by using a CONCAVE mirror. I don't think convex mirror does that. The convex mirror does not even produce a real image.... I was right, I just refreshed my 50year faded memory : "1) The reflecting surface of the concave mirror is bulged inwards. But the reflecting surface of the convex mirror is bulged outwards. (2) Concave mirror produces real and inverted images (except when the object is placed between pole and focus. ... But the convex mirror always produces virtual and erect images."

A materialistic model of the brain cannot, by definition, demonstrate or even explain the idea of consciousness or other similar subtler aspects of reality.
Neuro-science is pretty rudimentary at this point and at best can map gross physical experiences to bio-chemical reactions and provide a framework for understanding material phenomenon (i.e. can at best explain the 'symptoms' of ego but not the underlying 'disease' of the self). It is a stretch to expect it to explain atman / brahman or other esoteric concepts.
Brain mapping-based neuro-science is like Newtonian physics, we would need a quantum mechanical-like paradigm shift to provide a limited physical explanation of consciousness - complete explanation may not be possible even.

    *How to Destroy Christianity :*
Argument 1: “No Romans, No Salvation”: They say “Jesus died to save you from sins” but Jesus wouldn’t have died if the Romans hadn’t killed him. Therefore you should thank/worship the Romans for salvation before you thank Jesus cos after all, Christianity is all about paying gratitude, right ?
Argument 2: If you don't give credit for Salvation to the Romans, then it would mean that Jesus died on his own without anyone's help/interference, which means “he killed himself” - and killing yourself is called "suicide". Then you rather change your slogan to "Jesus committed suicide for you" - but wait, isn't suicide a sin in Christianity ? Jesus Christ!! Jesus was a sinner!

    • @tingtang9302

Christianity isn't all about paying gratitude, so this argument falls apart. How to destroy Christianity and most other mythological belief systems: magic isn't real

Ravi Chandel :I am a great admirer of r. M. All my knowledge about Hinduism and our history of India I learned from him as a 60 year woman. Although I am born and brought up in india. I moved to Europe as, 20 years old. I was taught history written by Britain and I didn't know much about our culture except from home. It is nearly the same way as rajivji moved to us. But our background was so different. I followed everything about him, because I found out I couldn't give my children the same culture as I grew up with. Because I didn't know myself much about it
Although both of them are doctors and highly specialized, I am left with a feeling of failed mother.
It pains me so much, not be able to communicate with them and share my culture. They don't love India as much l do, and they do not feel either 100%European. They are in a state of no mands land without any solid identity
On the other hand I feel proud to be an Indian and of our culture.,even so I lived more than they did and I i have a sense of solid identity.
But I am so greatfull to him at least he taught me so much about our country. As though I feel like I am reborn.
So he is my guru and ideal.
So I appreciate him very much.
Now I donate every year in infinity foundation. I will keep on doing that, as long as I live.
It is my small way to do something for this great country who gave me the opportunity to be born there.
      Best regards
      Suvra datta
