Roman, I'm quite impressed by your openess and willingness to share. I think this is a true sign of character, strength and confidence. I love your work and wish you the very best. Cheers
Great vid update. Sincerity is everything. I and my partner have been travelling the world for more than 7 years on a motorcycle. We have zero interest in making money from our (ad)ventures. However we have a very large following on our blog and it's essentially from our openess to be honest and cut the BS to zero. No embelishments at all. Our sole intentions of the blog are to both meet people and to replace our written diary with a digital one that includes photos. In any case the point is, be sincere and honest with the story telling. Oh, we've used both Fuji XT-2 and XT-5 throughout. Hence checking out different "Fuji YT channels" Keep up the good work.
i have seen people holding those small lav mics in their hands, ridiculous. this guy is holding this big radio style mic now, lmao. what's next? holding the whole desk?
I'd love the two hour version haha. Can you recall what order you built all of this out in and do you have any thoughts on an ideal order to focus on so we don't get spread too thin? Ie, should have set up blog first, or start building everything at once but just improve them over time? And of course thank you for sharing this and being so transparent. I really respect the values you seem to display throughout this video too.
Thanks for providing this transparency about your business! It's interesting to see what's going on behind the scenes and what your considerations are.
Roman, another excellent video, this one could actually serve as a Master Course for any small business startup. Throw in some risk assessment, funding and time/cost management strategies, package the course and promote it on your website. Photographers and content creators would benefit greatly from the content.
Really appreciate you creating this video for those of us who are starting out in photography as a business. I also really appreciate your honesty and character.
You worked yourself up to being my favorite photography UA-camr. Thanks to your honesty, relatability, valuable advice and of course great photography. I like what you do a lot and I bought a guide, a zine and your presets, which I use a lot, from your website. Greetings from Germany!
Fantastic and informative video as always! I appreciate the transparency and logistic organization that you shared with your audience. Great job, wish you all the best in new year!
Browsing though your blog, great stuff. I would appreciate a way to filter according to topic, is that an option? (On mobile) E.g. lens reviews, camera reviews, travel advice, long term reviews, first impressions, etc
Great info Roman ......I notice that you don't do any workshops or tuition which is something I think could be a huge value to you...is it something you are considering for the future?
I followed you pretty much from the start, to see how you developed your work and pursuing this life of travel, vlog and photos is great. I thought about it but having the commitment of mortgage etc, I gone a different route, where I took a job that incorporates travel to some lovely locations on a daily basis so can get some photo time around my work. Your doing ok making a few quid, travelling and producing some great work so I hats off to you and well done mate and wish more success for 2024 👍🍺
I’d just like to thank you Roman. As someone coming back into photography after a long break your insights have been invaluable in my decision making on equipment. Very glad your products are the core of your income- they are excellent.
A newsletter is also a great way to keep control of your audience in your own hands. If people only find you by social media and their algorithms decide to ignore you or the platform disappears for whatever reason you’ll lose your audience. Having a way to get in touch without social media could be a lifesaver. Also if you decide to move platforms..
Great video, transparency is fantastic. I think I need to put more effort into my channel. I did hear that a famous Red Bull Mountain biker get's 2k for every time he mentions the space that is square...
Roman a very worthwhile video. I admire your honesty and candid approach. Very refreshing, credible and commendable. Congratulations on your success and long may you prosper.
Interesting video that got me looking through your instagram and now i have an unrelated question. When you shoot photos, do you always shoot in your cameras manual mode and adjust shutter speed, iso and aperture manually before snapping a photo? Just wondering because ive taken up photography recently and i use manual mode but do you ever just use the automatic mode? I know manual is best for making the photos look like you want but yeah. Just a random thought haha.
Thanks for making this video. Would you mind sharing whether the majority of the traffic you get to your website is from your social media or from direct google searches of either your website or products you’ve reviewed? Thanks
Thank you Roman for an insight in to your world. I am just a mere amateur photographer and sell my fine art wildlife prints locally. This has been a long and not easy process to achieve. I have sold in every venue I have had an exhibition, however it will never pay my bills ! Lol
This is an excellent video, as I move from office work to more photography related, I am looking to monetize my efforts; using the newsletter as a summary of what I have done elsewhere is a really good nugget, thank you! I like the idea of zines, but why don’t you sell your prints (where I thought I would start monetizing my photography)? Not a criticism, a genuine question.
Thank you so much for sharing - and for all the other great content you produce. I thinks it’s time I went and picked up a copy of your London photo guide!
Roman - It looks like you don't sell print images on your website, or maybe I'm not seeing it. If that's the case is it a quality control issue, or because the profit margin would be higher through digital direct methods? I often think about jumping down this type of rabbit hole but the idea of online sales of prints makes me hesitant.
I tried prints once and it was a complete headache. Pre brexit it was sort of fine but now that most of my audience is not in the uk, it’s simply not worth it. Add loss and damage during transit into the mix and it’s a pretty crap business model
No… mostly because I was not willing to sell my soul to promote it. I got involved just in case and to have my name registered in that space. However it was a very cheesy environment and I wanted nothing to do with it after a while
I did a 1:1 photography workshop with you early 2021, you were great then - I loved your style and personality and it’s so good to see your still just as authentic!
Probably one of your best videos that isn't your usual content, not many creators really talk about this and is a good bit of base knowledge for anyone trying to do what you do!
Roman, I'm quite impressed by your openess and willingness to share. I think this is a true sign of character, strength and confidence. I love your work and wish you the very best. Cheers
Haaaaa loved seeing my own blogpost about my fujifilm film recipes pop up at 6:08. Mama I made it, I'm in a Roman Fox video 😆
This was inspiring to watch. Of the products in the shop, which ones are giving you most income? Books or presets?
can you bounce a coin on that bed?

7/10 for observation

Tbh it was all at the same time in phases. One year main focus is UA-cam, next year products, next year blog etc
Thanks for providing this transparency about your business! It's interesting to see what's going on behind the scenes and what your considerations are.

I was definitely curious about this as a hobbyist. Thanks for the straight-forward info.
You are such a great teacher, clearly getting your message across. Do you do any private (group or one to one) tutorials?
This has been really informative. Thanks for taking the time to do these. Well done!
Already knew about the skills and passion for the craft, there is also quite a bit of integrity coming with it. Very refreshing.
Fantastic and informative video as always! I appreciate the transparency and logistic organization that you shared with your audience. Great job, wish you all the best in new year!
Thanks for the insight Roman! You were one of my inspirations to start with photography again.
Browsing though your blog, great stuff. I would appreciate a way to filter according to topic, is that an option? (On mobile)

Hi Roman, what’s your opinion on NFTs do you think its a worthwhile platform for photographers?
Wow, 55% of your really own personal stuff is really impressive.
Congrats
Love your style of video bro, keep it up 🙏🏼
Great info Roman ......I notice that you don't do any workshops or tuition which is something I think could be a huge value to you...is it something you are considering for the future?
Thanks!
Yeah it’s something for the future once all travels slow down and I’m more settled in a few years. Hard to do while travelling so much
Why not run workshops wherever you are in the world?
You seem like a great guy and this was super informative! Thank you
Well done. You’re very clever and we could all see that vision from the beginning of your channel
That’s a great video, and very well explained while being inspirational.

Inspiring and interesting...some Info I was searching in UA-cam for quite a while. Will stay with your Channel. Thanks!😊

Roman thanks for sharing this, my small channel has only just got monetized, some really good advice, thanks again.

Did you ever get anywhere doing NFTs?
No… mostly because I was not willing to sell my soul to promote it. I got involved just in case and to have my name registered in that space. However it was a very cheesy environment and I wanted nothing to do with it after a while
NFTs are a scam
I did a 1:1 photography workshop with you early 2021, you were great then - I loved your style and personality and it’s so good to see your still just as authentic!
