I liked the HK 53 (5.56mm) we used that back in the 80's (God I'm old).
The sights on those roller-delayed HKs are perfect. Can't fathom why they moved away from them on the newer rifles

Now that 5.7 is an official NATO cartridge, is HK going to have to make an MP7 in 5.7?

I believe hk managed to get nato approval for their 4.6 as well.
Really don’t like how they don’t offer the 416 or uppers to the public in the same configuration as they do military and LE, besides full auto obviously. The MR556 doesn’t have the chrome lined barrel and I believe there’s a few other differences that make it less heavy duty compared to a 416. I know they do this to comply with German law because the barrel they have in the MR series makes it considered a target rifle instead of a duty rifle. I have also heard that there are a couple of proprietary parts on the 416/MR that mean they can’t use certain standard AR parts but I can’t remember what they were and maybe they’ve changed them. I understand that more because HK does a lot of proprietary things but I prefer compatibility with the large aftermarket available for the AR platform. Then again, they’re way out of my price range but I’d be far more inclined to save up for an upper if they offered a true 416 upper with the chrome lined barrel and the heavier duty components. They’re awesome.

The MP7 A1 …. FINALLY!!! A vertical grip! All rifles big and small needs the option from the manufacturer or the brand for those types of vertical grips!!

Guy was not understanding the question re the original MP7 vs the A1. The answer is, yes, the A1 came about to allow for the slight curvature of higher capacity magazines. As for the HK416, the current model is the A8. Interesting they still sell the A5 as standard in the US market.

H&K were one of the best, weapon systems, I ever got to used.
The MP7 is overrated tho
I know a SF medic who mag dumped a guy with the mp7 who was taking pot shots at them with a makarov a block away. Bad guy died but he said he didnt care for the cartridge.
The MP7 is so easy to shoot that even made a fudd like me look good.

USMC went from the 16" to the 11.3"??? The 16" with suppressor was ridiculous because with the suppressor it was longer than an M16A2. Almost as long as an M14. Now they go to the 11.3" which reduces the effectiveness of the cartridge. Why not to go back to a 14.5" splitting the difference. Still short and maneuverable and long enough to still be effective at increased distance. The DMR with M110 can deal with bad guys out past 500?
Love me some HK I built out 2 AR15 rigs a 16 inch and a 10.3 built both using Ral8000 HK parts and have video's on both on my channel my new one I'm building will have a piston kit HK makes some of the best quality rigs they are higher priced because they are built to run dam near forever great video great to see more HK kit for sure!!!!!!

The this an excellent example of why HK hates the consumer market. There is zero reference to any products made for the general public. The MP7 was never released to the consumer market, and their SP5 is a neutered version of their MP5. If you own a registered full auto MP5 lower you cannot use it on a SP5. Less we forget that they never came out with an optics ready slide version of their P30 pistols but deferred it to a 3rd party. And yes, they do hate you! Otherwise their actions would prove different.
TBH why bother with this if none of these HK’s are available in the US civilian market? I can understand if 90% of your target audience/subscribers are PD and MIL procurement.
