Let me shatter your bubble a little.
As a Pole, as much as I dont like how unapologetic Zelensky's goverment is, at times downrigh dismissive of support from us or haggling with exhumations and peoples dignity just to squeeze a little bit more, even despite that we didn't took up the obligation to protect Ukraine as part of de-nuclearisation deal. Yet still if I, as a Pole would have to choose - I would still rather fight alongside them than be forced to experience the infamous Russian "slavic brotherhood" sham ever again. We know all too well what it means in Moscow tonque. The only reggrettable thing is that as for ages before Kremlin is using other people chained and drained as meat resources to feed its ambitions, and to not let the Muscovite center of power suffer any consequences of its actions. While the other etnicities held as captive in its prison-state are expended to fill the holes left by ones unchecked hegemony breeding rampaging incompetency and balant disregard for "fellow people's" lifes. We were once just one of those "resources", never again.
And the only thing i depsise more than Kremlin bums sending "fellow people" to die and cover up their fasade is mindless tools like you buying that bs despite how every nation (not even just slavic ones) that got rid of Kremlin chains thanks fate for the day it happend, and curses it for how much they needed to wait. Idgaf if you hate USA for being a mess of backstabbing hipocrytes, if all I can choose is to deal with it or the alternative being "Russian brotherhood" - then I am confident to have better chances with the first.

Poland some decades back had basic self-defense classes called "przysposobienie obronne". They taught basic skills like first aid, how to use a gas mask, and in some cases students tried their skills at a shooting range. Naturally, safety was the priority. They were cancelled in 2012. To clarify some alarmist undertones in material other than questionable translation ommiting entire sentences to paint the thing more extreme ; In Poland we have very little guns and next to no gun crimes, together with that laws on how to get gun license or when you can use them in self deffense are treated very seriously and with "no-excuses" approach - so its basically an improval of readyness in case of mobilisation.
The only loud cases of gun crimes / intentional unlawful usages in latest times were caused by foreiners.
As if that wasnt enough of a proof - we had similar procedures/lessons for the older generations before the fall of communism. So its not like noone knows what will turn out from this - pretty much the opposite.

The important thing is the culture surrounding guns, not whether ppl have, like, or know how to use them. There's a certain large country in the world infamous for its gun problems, but the problem is really the culture surrounding them, not the guns themselves. If guns are seen as a normal solution to a disagreement instead of an absolute last resort, that is when problems arise. If gun culture makes clear that they are strictly for hunting, sport, and only against humans as last resort for serious threats like war then it can be okay. As long as these kids understand that a gun is a weapon not just a tool or toy, Poland will be okay..I hope.

My high-school had a gun range. They discontinued the class about 20 years before I got there, but the range was still there, just being used as storage.
Talking to my dad, who had gone through the same school, it was rated for .38 special but they just used .22lr.
When I went through, they tried to start an archery team, but only 2 students were interested after finding out how regulated the sport was. Most of us wanted to use longbow or recurve and a handful who went bowhunting felt the regulation bows were too light, slow to react and poorly sighted.
