Pamiętam te ME. Były dwa polskie półfinały Grubba-Persson i Kucharski-Carlsson. Chyba, mogę sie mylić co do Carlssona. No i wszyscy obstawiali finał Grubba-Kucharski a tu niespodzianka i Persson wygrał. W sensie indywidualnym. Podobno do rana nie mógł zasnąć z nerwów i prawdopodobnie "przegrał" jeszcze zanim podszedł do stołu. Szkoda przegranej i życzyłbym sobie zobaczyć jakiegoś Polaka w finale takiej imprezy.
I think it's kind of funny how this video was recorded in the 1980s, but most of ITTF's videos now, in 2014, look like this video in the age of HD. Hmm, funny how that works.
Whoaa what a treat! I have never seen Kucharski before. He put up a good match against Persson. The game is so different from todays. Persson was not even 20 yrs of age....still a teen.
Only one player tossing the ball up correctly for what constitutes a legal serve today. From memory, the 6 inch ball toss from a flat palm, 45% from the vertical would have come in around the time this match was played?
The new bigger ball is way better than that thing. The new ball has a much better balance of spin, speed, and control. So its easier to play the game with fewer errors and that's a good thing. Also, I'm only 1600. lol
Detherocable No doubt, but how would Persson fair up against Ma or Xu or Jike today? The game has gotten so much faster. I do like the European players but the Chinese have powered their way through in the last 10 years or so.
Rathky M Back then the chinese team looked unbeatable as well. Yet the young swedish team would adapt and ultimately beat them. I think that would also be true today. Creativity and strategy can sometimes over come the mechanical powerplay of the chinese. look up Waldner (44 years or so old) vs Ma Long in 2010. Ma won but it was far from a blow out and Waldner's close to the table blocking made Ma look silly several times. I have no doubt that a younger Waldner would find a way to beat MA and Jike just like he beat Liu guilang and Wang Liguin, both faster and more powerful players.
olaniyi570 Perhaps so, but even when Waldner was young and more agile, he was not as flexible as the Chinese, the body movement was slower by comparison and I would assume it has something to do with body weight and body type that makes European players look like stiffs at certain moments of the game. I have watched so many encounters between Chinese and European players over the years, I actually concentrated on reflexes and body movements more so than who won the point or the match. I am not saying Waldner was not a great player; contrary to that, he was one of the best if not the best to ever play and influence the game.
Rathky M no, you are wrong and unfair. typical modern thimking. the chinesebwere on top even then. yet europeans sometimesbprevailed. today the game is NOT enjiyable, speedbfucked it up
the first game I ever watched on TV - made me start playing until today ;).
Kucharski, the Mc Enroe of table tennis.Great Player.
True icons of table tennis. Their style of playing was very natural. It's a great pleasure to see such real talents.
I was skipping videos on UA-cam and now I read a commentary from Mr Professor. World is surprising :)
Świetni gracze. Introwertyk Perrson, choleryk Kucharski dali świetne przedstawienie.

What an excellent match...both players are giving it everything they've got.

What à backhand from Persson !! And Kucharski seemed so angry after each point. What a pressure ...
Five consecutive swedish european champions in men' s singles from 1982- 1990! The suite started and ended with Appelgren.
Whoaa what a treat! I have never seen Kucharski before. He put up a good match against Persson. The game is so different from todays. Persson was not even 20 yrs of age....still a teen.
Maciek , znowu to oglądamy :)
Keanu Reeves got an Oscar after this perfomance!
Not the same mentality, isn't it?
Classic backhand master wrist - 38 mm ball - real table tennis ball !
Fantastiskt att du har den här matchen! D är du nog i princip ensam om! Tack för uppladningen!
Great entertaining old school match!
JORGEN PERSSON...BEST.BACKHAND.EVER!!
Best backhand in the world belongs to Andrzej Grubba.
perrson vs john wick
Persson with a green Donic Vario on the backand :-o
I heard that Grubba and Kucharski never got on, that is sad. They were both so great players. Anyone knows more about this?
fantastic double they were...
12:55 LOL and look at the backhand smash at 13:05 ..... whoa!!!
since we r being technical Persson's constant stomping would not fly these days either...either way, epic backhand and feel for the ball
Szwedzi ogrywali naszych, byli lepsi, głowy chłodniejsze.

kucharski's serve would be soo illegal now
Person also. He coever ball
covering was allowed. kucha dont throw the ball at least 15 cm ...
Perrson didnt seem to be troubled by it
Lol, Kucharski "commenting" every lost point from the 2nd game onwards. Probably didn't help his concentration! :-D
Czemu nie kopał w stół ? Czyżby ultimatum?
,why did the jughes not give leszec
A warning for the way he served
Głowy są ważne i nogi w 🎾 tenisie stolowym
Cant see a >15, 25cm Kucharski ball throw at his serve

38mm better, more speen, real table tennis
No ball toss of 6 inches:) straight off the hand.
polish power i polish
Fun 2 see the numbers on the back. Kind of unnecessary and wrinkly at the same time
Kucharski jest zbyt nerwowy do tenisa stołowego. Dlatego nie wygrywał
irregular serve, kucha!
Zero toss on Kucharski's serves.
There was no height requirement then.
Pretty nice illegal serve by Kuharski..
These guys would lose 0-4 with today's players. The game has gotten so much faster with better serves and attacking power.
You've clearly overlooked Beijing 2008, where a 42-year old Persson held his ground vs Wang Hao.

Filmik pokazuje wszystko.
