As I've said before, the lore behind The engines drivers common room is truly extensive, I would say it brought me to tears with how amazing and emotional it was, no but seriously mr Perkins was my goat rest in peace to him.
5:54 Yeah, for some weird reason during the Nitrogen era, in the UK dub, everyone would refer to Sir Topham Hatt by his nickname even when they were speaking directly to him. The only exceptions were Dowager and Allicia Botti.
I loved the Engine Drivers Segment to death as a kid, it really felt like we got to see what the humans were up too while the engines were off on their adventures. To me, I like to think that in universe the engine driver segments were small slice of life things that happened to actual engine drivers and were retold through the engine driver segments. I really wish we got a spin-off that took notes from Lady Hatt's Birthday Party, showing the slice of life side of things for the humans of Sodor. But whatever the case, I'm still glad Mr. Perkins still appeared in Mr. Perkins Storytime, Postcards and Railway.
5:55 here in the uk we only ever call him the fat controller, it was only until the show when to America they changed it to Tottenham hat because they didn’t won’t kids saying fat 😂
I find it intersting that the final Mr Perkin's segment for both US and UK are completely exclusive to one another (Railway Mischeif has the Soccer Match & Big Bang Surprise has the Clowns Around) It makes me wonder if they're anymore segments they recorded but never released. I know there are unreleased UK versions of the Mr Arkright segments but maybe there are full on segments that we haven't seen, maybe deleted scenes as well. Also intsering that the widescreen versions of the Mr Arkright segments are lost media because they never commercially released in the UK
I just had a thought, after the talent show episode, Mr Perkins does stuff which he could've done for the talent show (Such as playing an instrument and baking), so, what if, after the talent show, he learned new skills to be prepared for if there's ever a next one
I remembered one of those engine drivers pre-nitrogen era? Im not so sure, i recall seeing the drivers when i first watched the team up with thomas dvd, then i saw mr perkins during mid nitrogen era, never knew what were those segments for when i was little, but its pretty odd seeing a video abt them now, since its been like long since i last saw them, but rip to the actor that played Mr Perkins, I actually enjoyed his segments :(
When these DVD exclusive filler segments are better than the actual episodes being made at the time, you know they ballsed up said episodes VERY badly.
Hey, for all we know, McColl's cheese could be the absolute greatest thing the world has ever tasted. Perhaps grilling it would take away it's flavor and make it taste awful. I will always stan Arkwright. Two episodes and he stole my heart.
Mr Arkwright may not have made a grilled cheese sandwich cos that would involve an oven and i think it was meant to show kids how to make sandwiches so couldn't tutorialise children to use an oven unsupervised
I have a theory. What if the "Topham" in these episodes is actually Lowham? It makes sense. Constantly messing with Mr. Perkins is ABSOLUTELY something that Lowham would do given that he is a bit of a prankster. And since he is usually speaking over the phone and sounds exactly like Topham, Mr. Perkins is none the wiser to Lowham's jokes. Or Topham does possibly have a jokester side to him that we rarely see. Who knows...

I remember seeing Mr. Perkins segments when I was young. Even though it wasn’t on tv anymore,I would still watch them on youtube back then.

We'll miss you Ben Forster (1958 - 2017) May you rest in peace you charming engine driver
Perkins is like the dad we never had

22:19 That looks like the ERTL wind up Topham
Mr Perkins was like that cool calm British uncle we never had
I still miss these segments, definitely a silver lining during the Nitrogen era, R.I.P. Ben Forster
7:00 I would really like to know what toke Henry so long to get to Knapford Station that day
Must've been the craziest day for him
Man, I loved these when I was a young.
same
These segments were such a treat i love these, these wouldve been so nice to see carry on further but imagining a bwba version feels so wrong
Fun EDCR lore: the parrot in the fourth episode actually belongs to Dowager Hatt (Sir Topham Hatt's mother).
Perkins, my GOAT!
I remember watching mr Perkins on PBS kids I remember when he made cake look like James
And when he ran out of coil
And cleans
And paints
And sleeps
and the one about the gold coins
I like that the lemonade Mr Perkins has is the same kind of bottle from the season 13/14 episode with Thomas and the carbonated lemonade?
Oh neat!

Real
I loved the thomas dvds
They were great! Glad that we got exclusive content like this for the show!
@DianaSttar my favorite was calling all engines, my mom told me once that I watched it soo much that the DVD wore down until it didn't work.
My favorite engine driver is Hatsune Miku 😎

Mr Perkins was the Mr. Conductor in CGI
I grew up in 2009 so I only grew up with CGI
YESSSSS
Mr Arkwright may not have made a grilled cheese sandwich cos that would involve an oven and i think it was meant to show kids how to make sandwiches so couldn't tutorialise children to use an oven unsupervised
Love it!
The vegetable one to my knowledge was included in the up up and away dvd
