- Prior to the release of his In 3-D album, "Weird Al" Yankovic had been known to do polka medleys in concert since 1982. Freed from the bother of securing permission, he polkafied anything he wanted. This particular incarnation includes:
Jocko Homo - Devo
Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple
Der Kommissar - After The Fire*
Sex (I'm A) - Berlin
Hey Jude - The Beatles
L.A. Woman - The Doors
Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida - Iron Butterfly
Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix
1999 - Prince*
Bad Boys Get Spanked - The Pretenders*
Hot Blooded - Foreigner
Every Breath You Take - The Police
She Blinded Me With Science - Thomas Dolby*
Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin*
* - not on album version
The most amazing thing is looking at the band and seeing that they're still playing with Al almost forty years later!
Ah the classic Weird Al velvet pants. Iconic.
Snap, my jaw 'bout hit the floor when he busted out "1999!"
I've been watching Al's live Polka Medleys starting in 1982 up to the present.
By 2016 he finally perfected the accordion spin at the end.
I don't know another artist with that attitude... Al kicks ass!
You mean with that much spaz?
Now if only we had a recording of his 1981 version.
Was it different than?
I don't think a 1981 version exists, but there is a 1982 version featuring the following songs:
Jocko Homo - Devo
Homosapien - Pete Shelley
Sex Junkie - Plasmatics
T.V.O.D. - The Normal
Bad Boys Get Spanked - The Pretenders
TV Party - Black Flag
Janitor - Suburban Lawns
People Who Died - The Jim Carroll Band
@@coconutcrew99 I can't find it anywhere? Do you know where to find it
@@matthewradtke9573 It's not avaliable online
@@coconutcrew99 where is it available then
This might be all we hear of the "Led Zeppelin Polka" idea Al had... evidently, the reason 'Even Worse' had no polka, because LZ refused to grant permission.
Al has got to be one of the most funniest person with music I have ever heard and seen.
Polkas on 45 (Pre-Album Version)
Lyrics (Starts at 0:26):
Jocko Homo - Devo (0:53)

A fire in the sky

I'm a little girl when we make love together
Hey, hey, hey!
Hey Jude - The Beatles (1:55)

Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it

There's a lady who knows all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed

Weird Al on Hey Joe: It wasn't a polka, it wasn't a medley, it was an experience!
When Time Travel becomes a thing, I'm going to a Weird Al concert in the 80's. He didn't have to be so family friendly back then. Hearing him say "slut" is an EXPERIENCE.
Ok. But have you heard him say gay porn?
@@retired193 WHEN??? BAHAHA
nvm found it!!
@@jazzmatazz27 HUH Do you have a link??
@@thorntails ua-cam.com/video/QOFmW8BrGd4/v-deo.html here!!! He said "im a slut" really grumbley in one of the parts.
Now I want to polka like it's 1999!
Its amazing that this band is still together to this day.
Weird Al=Pure happiness
Thanks for putting this up! I've always wanted to see what the 80's polkas looked like live! (especially this one!)
absolutely amazing. wish I could have been there
Epic extended version! Thank you!!!!!
This version is better than the other one because it has a polka version of stairway to heaven and i think that weird al and led zeppelin should now make an album together.
3:38 favorite part 🪗✨ God he is adorable 🥰
I love the slower pace and bounce to this version, not as chaotic.
This answers the question of what he wanted to parody of Prince
That was one of the songs, but he also wanted to parody "When Doves Cry", "Kiss", and "Let's Go Crazy". The latter was the original idea he had for the "Beverly Hillbillies" sequence from UHF, before he changed it to a parody of Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing".
The bubbles! ROFL!
Damn imagine watching this high 😆
Thanks so very much!!!!
I miss those pants
We all do. Sometimes you have to just let go.
Gotta love those pants!
Thank you!
Great medley! A nice alternative to the album version!
According to Wikipedia, it was in Greenwich Village at 15 West 4th St. between Broadway and Washington Square Park.
I honestly think "My Generation" works better as the ending than "Stairway To Heaven". The "Should I Stay or Should I Go" part in the final version also works better than "She Blinded Me With Science" here. Too bad he had to lose the "yodel like it's 1999" part though.
NICE!
You forgot to add “bubbles in the wine” in the description ^.^
I actually prefer this over the official one, especially the ending part
I Know The Album Version By Heart, And Its So Weird To Hear The Pre-Album Lyrics
It's funny when al says I'm a pig I'm slug I'm a woman and other words.
And he added a song don't turn around oh oh. Plus anyway
Good job al.
Está mucho mejor que la versión final para el álbum "En 3-D"
NYC
This is origin Al
I like the Stairway reference. That didn't make the album
I wonder what would happen if you combine this version with the album version
yeah i love how he moved his legs when he said that. hehe
Said what?
3:31 WHAT NOW
July 29, 1983, Bottom Line, New York,NY. There does that answer your question?
I also find it funny how Jim polkas with a guitar? Is he even playing it at times in this song?
Not 1982. This is either from 1983 or 1984.
@nemellotus duh!
damn i really wanna watch this but the constant high pitched noise hurts my head
I don't know. The Bottom Line is not around anymore.
Interesting. A bit slower and less energy though.
