They was such a great combination. I used to watch this show when I was a kid. So proud to see a black couple so talented ..And in there on TV show back in the 70's
On Tuesday night October 5, 2021. This my First times watching this show. I didn't know they had a show together. Thank you U-tube for sharing this. ☺😊😀💖💜💚🎵🎼🎧🎸🎷🎤🎺🎻🎹🎶
The good Ole Days, back in the day. Life seemed more relaxed then. Maybe, too relaxed, the intensity of every year, keeps us on our knees before God 🙏💕
For people who don't recognize her, I believe that's Moms Mabley as the landlady. Melba and Clifton were an attractive couple. There's another clip of them singing 'Never Can Say Goodbye' together in 2015 , so it's nice that they still seem to be friends.
Even though Clifton is currently married, I sure miss seeing these two together. The chemistry was great. I recently went to see Melba LIVE, and she mentioned Clifton Davis with a sparkle in her eye. Thanks for posting.
I loved the way Black men claimed their women! They were so bold about their love. And the bold statements they made !Nobody was trying to be politically correct!Clifton Davis was gorgeous! They couldn't keep their hands off each other
WOW! I was only 9 yrs old @ that time...and i never knew they were a couple! I remember Clifton Davis as an actor, and i remember Melba Moore singing "you stepped into my life" when i was a very young teenager🤔 These are beautiful memories..just wow😍❤
I remember being sooooooo body shamed back in 1971-1972 when I was as skinny as Melba and now everyone is commenting on how "fine" she was then. 🤔. So glad I later learned to love myself. 💕
Clifton & Melba made such a cute couple! Always with their arms around each other. Adorable lil showcase of singing talent. And I LOVED the bit with Jean Stapleton performing Aretha Franklin's hit! She was gettin' down!
Forget about loving and respecting your own ....love comes in many flavors so stop that nonsense. Anyway, I will say this....'that's back when black men loved and respected black women'. Now-a-days, many black men don't even love and respect themselves let alone black women...things have done a downward spiral. Maybe, black men need to get back to their roots....a relationship with God.
In 1972, when this aired, I was only 3 years old and I wouldn't fall in love with Melba for another 4 years. This clip is like makes me fall in love with her all over again. Melba and Clifton were such naturals, and their love for one another practically bursts through the screen to warm and welcome you. Class Acts.
ShangoJamal MELBA IS HOT, SHE IS 26 YEARS OLD HERE...SAME AGE AS MY MOM WAS...HARD TO THINK OF MY MOM THIS YOUNG..BUT SHE WAS, SHE EVEN WAS THIN, WITH A BIG AFRO, LIKE THIS...I LOOK AT SOME OLD PICS
I just adore this and can watch it over and over. They knew how to make being in love feel so good to be in love during that time and now. I love this. Thank you.
Melba Moore and Clifton Davis are Two of the best that ever did it-Definitely a dynamic duo!!! Beyond gifted!!! It's practically unfathomable the heights these two would have reached had the relationship survived the fame and all that it comes with. I feel blessed to have experienced the talent and greativity (made that word up specially for them) There really are no words to summize,,,if don;t know-Now ya know...better ask somebody!!! I love you both!!!
Clifton Davis' ability to re-pitch lines in songs to his own liking is very similar to Billie Holiday's ability to do the same thing. That "My love is strong you see" was genius.
Melba Moore is a phenom. I have really slept on her talent in my lifetime. I mean, I always knew she could sing and was very respected but, seeing her here in her prime I really get it now. This sister is AMAZING! She's like some kind of Tammi Terrell/Judy Garland/Aretha Franklin/Barbara Streisand Hybrid or something. FLUIDLY versatile. I can DEFINATELY hear in these 70s clips the influence of working with Val Simpson.
I was overseas serving my country during the Viet Nam War when this came out and right before the military I was in the Jib Corps. So I missed all of this. But I am just really getting up to speed on Melba. I remember "Love Coming At You." But a continuation of Military Life, man did I miss out on a lot of Melba. She is phenomenal!
So funny that Melba's kissing all over Clifton's neck & then says" I don't know you well enough" when he asks her why she doesn't want to marry him!! Baffles me also why they never married!!
I remember the songs, but I guess I didn't watch TV then. Great Talent. Clifton got even better as a Pastor. I haven't watch Melba Moore, not sure what she is doing.
Gosh, those were the GOOD OLE DAYS!!!! They don't make music like that anymore.
They were a beautiful couple.
Miss Melba Moore & Mr. Clifton Davis are very very underrated entertainers.
They was such a great combination. I used to watch this show when I was a kid. So proud to see a black couple so talented ..And in there on TV show back in the 70's
I love Melba's hair. She looks sooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!! She has just enough make on.
I WANNA GO BACK TO THE 70'S WHO IS WITH ME THIS 1972 BORN GIRLY😂😂
‘71 born here and I’d love to go back in time with ya. Good times.
I dont wanna go back but I wish that good feeling Black pride would travel to the millennium!
I'm a 1962 baby but I'll gladly go back and take my family with me.
The 70s were the best!!!
Love them, love the hair & the fashion. Wow, I miss the 70s!
Melba Moore was a knockout! DAAAAAMN!!!!!

"Never Can Say Goodbye" is one of the greatest songs ever written. Clifton Davis knocked that one out the park.
He is so fine!!!
Yes he is...
He was kicking her ass behind the scenes
They were a wonderful couple 🤗😘🌹💖

They looked good together...
Melba Moore can sing ANY genre of music well and right. She gets nowhere near the credit she deserves to this day.
You are on point

WOW I DIDNT KNOW CLIFTON DAVIS COULD SING. HE SINGS GOOD.
One of the best things I've watched during my quarantine
this is when black men....respected and only loved there own,,,,,,,,,
+Uka Nwachuku Maybe they should bring back apartheid and segregation? What backward nonsense. And it's 'their' not 'there'.

I'm not going to lie a black couple does look good together.
+Sweet Sugar 101 You're right black men do not respect themselves at all.
Yeah like a lot of our sisters don't either
So sad that they broke up; they were amazing as a couple; thank God they are still lifelong friends & ( soulmates)!! 💘 Royalty! 👑

The black Sonny and Cher.
This definitely takes me back to the good old days. And yes, they were a cute couple.
When you see this show, you realize why shows of today are so damaging, full chaos and swift and not enough love
Lipstick.She was gorgeous.
I just adore this and can watch it over and over. They knew how to make being in love feel so good to be in love during that time and now. I love this. Thank you.

Melba Moore reminds me of the songstress Stephanie Mills who lives here in Charlotte, NC. Melba Moore's afro was tight like The Sylvers!
Love the Rock Steady bit with Jean. 😉🧡🎵🎶🎬🎞️📺☝️👍
Boy he was so handsom.
+Ambrose Andrepont I had SUCH a crush on him. Mind you... I was about 13.
Yes, and he's equally handsome on "That's My Momma" sitcom. Pretty good!
Sweet Sugar 101 & still is😍
J.A. 263737668 with big bulge too.
@@msatxgault560And On "Amen" As Well
I wish this show will air on Thegrio TV😉
Jean Stapleton on Rock Steady was PRICELESS!!!
Between Michael Jackson and Gloria Gaynor that one song probably put his kids through college.
Don't forget Isaac Hayes did his own version too.
Clifton Davis said the same line to Thelma about a kiss on AMEN.
Amazing that they allowed that kiss back then.
Sweet Melba Moore.
OMG-look at Edith doing the damn thang-too funny!!!
Edith sounded the same like she did on the theme song for "All in the family". Lol!😂😂
2 great talents
Moms Mabley!!!!

Love the Rock Steady part !! RIP Aretha!
Look at the dingbat go!! I about lost it!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Moms Mabley and Edith Stapleton. Loving Melba's outfit.
She carried this whole segment with timing and perfection. That “black folks curfew” line was funny as hell.
OMG, I love, Love, LOVE this!!!
Outstanding.... boy where does the time fly, I remember seeing this on tv it seems a life time ago!
Been searching for this clip of Jean Stapleton for decades! Thank You!!

Beautiful couple 🤎
Absolutely dynamic couple!!
I never knew that her real voice sounded different than on All in The Family!
Awesome
GREAT OF CAROL BURNETT TO LET THEM SHOWCASE THEIR TALENT.
I remember the songs, but I guess I didn't watch TV then. Great Talent. Clifton got even better as a Pastor. I haven't watch Melba Moore, not sure what she is doing.
