Dude, right before Adele made the song someone like you, I actually wrote a song of my own in the same key, with very similar cords and progressions, except that the lyrics and the vocals were completely different and the timing was a little shorter on mine. I really was so mad at her for the longest time because I was like, she's still basically what I was trying to do. Then I realized, she had no idea who I was. LOL funny story though.

This is why I gave up writing fictions. I write science fictions now but back then I used to write teen novels. And every time I read my own story it feels like I've heard that story somewhere. And I'm thinking to myself "if I hate this book that I wrote myself then no one else will like it" But yeah. Now that I'm more experienced I know that I need to take a break and do smt else before going back to it. Becz when you focus on smt for way too long it messes with your head 😔

There are rules to musical progressions. If you take music theory you learn this. If you start at one note, you have finite options to follow it. What makes it all different is tone, inflection, cadence, and harmony.

It's not the progression, I used that progression in a song years ago. It's the run at the end that distinctly mirrors yours. Like, if you wanted to release your song now, people would say you stole it from her. That's when it's a problem.
As a professional musician, that climbing chord sequence is incredibly common. There are only so many notes and so many chords in a scale. Some chords sound garbage together which already whittles down the possibility. We can’t gatekeep chords without an UNCANNY resemblance.

In desing school once a professor told us that we have to draw like 20 sketchs or so and then dismiss them an start againg trying not to use those same ideas, that technique is used because when we are stressed or trying to come up with something we often will use ideas already engraved in out mind like something that once even years ago we saw or listened to or read or tasted so the first like 15 ideas or so are not really original even when upfront we can think it is

If you came up with it, someone else already did it 200 years ago in classical music. All pop music chords combinatios are derived from classical music. Your chord progression here is really common. It's been used in so many songs already, you can't make a claim they stole it.
