Having followed your journey from the very start, your videography, photography, music selection, film editing, and the sheer quality of the video is beyond any Hollywood production. This needs it's own series on a travel network. Congratulation on your success, I for one of many will miss your weekly updates. Much respect!
Thank you for your very kind comment, the videos will keep coming fortnightly; we have lots of editing to do alongside Florence's refit before we set off again.
I feel you are amongst the few, if not the only channel to capture the magnitude of such an adventure. Flawless filming/editing, epic narration, and a certain level of humility that makes you quite endearing. I am elated that your channel will go on after you complete round one!
The best sailing channel on UA-cam by far. Thank you for your very accurate portrait of life at sea, and your masterful recording and editing of same. A masterpiece!!!!!
I can only imagine the sheer magnitude watching on my phone. Undoubtedly, your films deserve the big screen with Dolby surround sound. Bravo, Florence is safely docked at the beautiful island of Flores. Thank you for sharing. 🌻🌺
I did this 19 years ago. Bloody great storm 200 miles from Flores that terrified me. Alone, ragged sails, no wind vane or autopilot, no AIS or radar or SSB radio. The Azores were amazing. Your wonderful cinematography takes me back. Great work guys. Some Frenchies gave me fresh bread and a welcome beer. I couldn't have been happier. Drinking red wine and talking tall tales of improbably large waves. Playing the bongos at Pete's bar. Happy days.
Guys, been with you for a long time and just love you. I'm guessing you've got many friends all over, that you've never met - but who all have a big spot in their heart for you. You are delightfully positive and amazing people.
Thank you two, for bringing a huge amount of joy, to so many. The beauty captured by your cameras and your entertaining narratives are a breath of fresh air for those of us who are relegated to living vicariously through your epic voyage! Bless you Matt and Amy! You are truly a gift to the world. 👍🏻🙏🏻
I sail the Pacific Northwest in a 1980 Swan 371. You two are my favorite sailing channel. The King should give you Knighthood and Damehood as the UK’s best social media ambassadors.
WOW! What an opening drone shot, from high above the boat, then tilting up - matching the commentary exactly - to see the Azores ahead. Well done, whoever thought of that one.
You never let me down, the videography and music and narration are so amazing it really makes the hair on my neck stand up. I just wish I didn’t have to wait two more weeks. I have wanted to visit the Azores, everyone I know who has been there raves about the islands, and have always gone back!! Thanks for all you guys do to bring this beautiful trip to all of us!
We only started sailing last year and have totally emerged ourselves in all things sailing. Having do e lots if formal training bought a 36 foot yacht and completed 12 weeks of sailing up , down and around the Scottish West Coast. ... we are challenging ourselves and learning so much! We have watched so many UA-cam sailing channels but you two are the absolute best! We value your spirit of adventure, your openness, your skills and experience. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. ❤
As a Portuguese man, that actually only had the pleasure of visiting the Azores once as a child once in my life, I just find it to poetic that there's a sailing ship reaching for these Portuguese Islands on their Atlantic crossings. You learn about the "Age of Discovery" sailors as a child and a teen and you cannot hope to feel any less than inspired. Sadly, lots of times you realize sailing is not in your family and/or is just too expensive. Thankfully you still get to learn english and then a few decades after you learn about english speaking folk that are sailing the seasons and coming to touch land in the Azores. It's so lovely to realize people around the world are connected. Cheers from Portugal - I'm proud my small country could bring about some sort of impactful step or steps in bringing together people from around the world. Chers.
I absolutely love your choice of music and together with the drone footage makes for a great vlog. And narration of course. What a difference the advent of drones has made.
I have enjoyed your travels since 2018 and also managed to watch all the back catalogue from the beginning. It’s been amazing watching you go around the world and also seeing you come home last weekend to port Solent. Well done and it was lovely to share the end of this trip with you. So thank you for inviting us all to join you. I look forward to the refit and then the next journey.
Love the comment about “now we wait for the butter not to melt” (those that have sailed the Atlantic will understand that comment), but a ‘very’ interesting quip about whose idea it is to sail north until the butter freezes 😊
Fascinated by both the Azores and Marquesas Islands. One day. A beautiful video of the calm after the storm! You are now home. Can’t wait to see the final leg of your adventure! ⛵️
I was just wondering if you kept track of the amount of diesel and gasoline you used in 46,000 miles. You two are the ultimate sailors and it would be interesting to see how little liquid fuel you used. I have enjoyed the entire journey so far and am looking forward to the future.
I ❤ this sailing channel. You both discuss the what, when, and how beautifully. You're a great team together. There's no fluff or goof. Videography combined with music is spectacular. I'm a new subscriber absolutely 💯
After that heady crossing to arrive in the Azores, out standing sail, Congratulations. Again, your filming of your stay was heart rendering. Travel heightens the senses! Keep your distance of the man-a-war I have treated hundreds of stings living on Ahau, Hawaii.
Sound sailing during (multiple and simultaneous) system problems is the best possible thing you could have done. Giving yourself sea room and time to assess problem/s/s, plan and execute was correct and makes up for any mistakes. Very good job solving problems together. It was appropriately intense, both earning a new stripe! You are a fine crew and a strong couple.
I´m one of the few followers that had seen Flores with own eyes on an atlantic crossing, we enjoied this island very much. Thanks for your great filming, editing and story telling
I’ll add to the comments below, superb background music and as well as interesting sailing, stunning cinematography! Might not be the correct word but it fits
They call those MoW's "Blue Bottles" in Australia. Quite painful on contact - vinegar alleviates some of the pain, but the sting lasts a while. Azores looks stunning. Those cliffs are magnificent.
Hello Matt and Amy. What a beautiful Vlog. Videography was fabulous. How exciting you saw the whales. 🐋. I love your choice of music. It really went with what you were filming. I absolutely love all the flowers. It’s gorgeous. Thank you so much for such a beautiful video. Love from LIZ in California🤟🏻⛵️💜😎🐬🇺🇸
Despite the challenges that you both faced during over 6 years, you present the world 🌎 in such a wonderful perspective. Thank you for such professional way. Much love to you both ❤
I have never understood why you have so few subscribers compared to the big boys - you are so worthy of that club. You are hands-down the most bad-ass sailors out there. Also, your video production quality is professional and spectacular. Congrats on making it to the Azores.
Your practically in your own backyard now. Congratulations on your successful Crossing of the Atlantic. Relieved it went well. I don't know how the two of you can ever live on the hard again. Good Luck. Thanks for the video
I used to watch a bunch of sailing channels, but only watch yours and Adventures of an Old Sea Dog now, for very different reasons. Barry's channel is a bit goofy and what I would hope I could aspire to, and I love it. But yours, your channel is a masterpiece in ... everything! And the best part is I haven't had a chance to go back to the beginning and watch your earlier videos. Thanks!!
The blue canvas on Florence is the same color as my first car, a 1967 Mustang convertible. The color was called Acapulco Blue! I am remiss that I didn't think about telling you this when you were in the Bahamas and closer to Acapulco. :¬) Webbed USA
First timer here. I see that I am not the only one that noticed the beauty of your videography. Picture book beautiful! It reminded me of the stunning views taken in the Lord of the Rings movie series. I will be subscribing, this is too good to miss.
So refreshing to see you both nearing the end of your "REAL" world sailing journey, Matt and the stunningly beautiful Amy congratulations on your travels so far, enjoy this lovely place and safe travel to your destination "HOME", All the best, Al
I will really miss your amazing videos and commentary as you sailed across the oceans. I wish you both well in whatever you choose to do after returning to the UK!! Happy sailing!!
I've seen a few sailing channels visit the Azores and they've all shown how beautiful the archipelago is. It's definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for the videos. Stay safe out there.
Absolutely stunning footage and editing worthy of the best documentary channels. Congratulations on your arrival back home it sounds like it was quite a party!
Sailing and videos of the highest class. Fantastic mood inspiring music - this is over and above ALL other sailing channels. Don’t stop your adventures and love for each other
Yours are tge videos that I look forward to the most. Stunning presentation. You are a truly special couple with a realistic window in to your amazing adventure. Impeccable sailing as well.
It's such a pleasure to watch you as talented sailors who work so well together and get real joy from being at sea. A few thoughts, from someone who has been on dry land for a long time; Florence seems ever so slightly 'nose-heavy' under spinnaker or broad reach; that seemed like perfect gennaker weather but you probably don't need more sails than the jibs, mains, genoa, and spinnaker you're carrying; you mentioned in the last video that you didn't want to put up the storm jib unless conditions worsened, but I would have thought that before then would be the optimal time; and how much water do you carry on an ocean passage? A small freshwater shower is probably deserved after a week of squalls!
Love your beautifully crafted videos, with exquisite scenery and music, topped with very good dialog. Many thanks for all your hard work! Blessings, Dave
I haven't yet been fortunate enough to sail to Flores, but as a result of this fantastic episode, it is now on my list! What a beautiful island! A small piece of trivia for you - the Jellyfish you filmed are known as Portuguese Man-O-War (Or, as us Australians know them - Bluebottles, or 'Blueys') The nematocysts (Stinging cells, i.e. barbs), I believe, are too small and soft to puncture thick skin (Hands and feet), as I have often stomped on them on the beach when they have washed ashore, to no ill avail. I also believe the 'Sails' can be pointed somewhat in direction, to enable them to change course. I'd love to hear a marine biologists point-of-view! Thank-you guys for another wonderful episode, for all of the superlative footage, editing and production of both your sailing (Which is unfortunately very rare on most channels...😒) and all of the panoramic landscape footage and my sincerest congratulations on such a professional production. You guys definitely deserve many, many more subscribers and therefore revenue. (Another 100K subs would hopefully convince you to cast off the lines on an "SV Florence II", for another couple of laps around this big, blue marble (That it seems is getting smaller and smaller, thanks to folks like yourselves!)) Well done on such an amazing achievement and I look forward with sincere sadness to your final episode... 🥺 Yours sincerely, Mr Michel Dawes
Hi Matt and Amy, its good to see you again, I am glad you are now out of the gale winds zone without problems, you guys made it, congrats. I sent to you a link included in my comment on your last video, with the latest weather forecast for the area of the Azores, including three different hurricanes paths that were hanging around your actual location back then. I hope it had been useful to you, as always stunning views caught by your drone camera up in the the Azores Islands. I wish you the best for the next leg of sailing on your way back home to England, bear hugs!

agreed -- so well said
I agree. Love the story telling and production.

Saying To Flores in Florence after a couple of beers would be interesting 😂
Beautiful cinematography

I have loved watching you for almost 7 years. Thanks
Me too
When you get back to England, you will probably be surprised at how different it is today from 7 years ago and may turn around and go back. 🙂
I sail the Pacific Northwest in a 1980 Swan 371. You two are my favorite sailing channel. The King should give you Knighthood and Damehood as the UK’s best social media ambassadors.

A rough 1st guess would be a gallon per week, ~50 gallons per year. Maybe closer to 25. Hopefully they answer.
Without a doubt the best sailing channel on UA-cam.
I ❤ this sailing channel. You both discuss the what, when, and how beautifully. You're a great team together. There's no fluff or goof. Videography combined with music is spectacular. I'm a new subscriber absolutely 💯
Should try to watch the episodes from Indonesia where they got stuck because of the lockdown.
Wow, handling those sails on deck shows what pros you are.
Nice to see you both on TV after your epic journey. Well done.
that island looks idyllic
I feel like you should make a movie length version of your journey, its been epic the whole way and your camera work is really the best.
Still the best sailing channel on UA-cam ❤
You guys are the best sailing channel on the net by far…..a real inspiration. Thank you for sharing.

That's love, keep your birthday promise. I admire you very much. Thank you for giving me inspiration. ❤
Congratulations on landfall. I hope you can find a reasonable still repairer. Enjoy your stay. Show us some more of the shops and building s please.
Been following you two for a few years now. Never commented before. But love watching. Happy sailing.
Fantastic scenery captured beautifully, hope your enjoying the green can’t wait till the next episode
