Great video. Thanks for the help. I have 2 problems. First I have to go to the setup file of DSD plus and run it each time.....wish there was a shortcut or desktop icon. Then when things are running and there's a DMR transmission, I get errors through DSD plus that say CACH ERR slot 1 BS DATA ERR3 DCC=5 rate 1/2 data. Any help on those issues would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
DSD+ is not a software program that installs itself as a software program/application that you can access from the 'Start' menu ... (presuming that you are using Microsoft Windows). The program runs from the default folder/location you have saved the files too. To create a desktop shortcut, simple locate the Folder called 'DSDPlus1p101', open the folder and right-click the file 'DSDPlus'. Hover your mouse over 'Send to' and you'll see a side menu ... click on 'Desktop (create shortcut)' .. and you'll have an Icon/shortcut on your desktop that will load DSD+ when you click/double click on it. DSD+ should then auto-detect your input/output audio devices. If DSD+ doesn't work from that link, it'll be because the audio input/output is incorrectly auto-configured and you'll have to create a batch file to specify your audio input/output devices and then create a desktop shortcut icon for that batch file. As for the 'CACH ERR slot 1 BS DATA ERR3 DCC=5 rate 1/2 data' error from DSD ... that is highly likely because you are receiving a broken/weak signal. Receiving a signal that is a known DMR frequency works best with strong signals. Unlike receiving an aircraft transmission where the aircraft is 100+ miles away, decoding DMR works best when the signal is very strong.
@@Maersky-747 Thanks for the help and the info. Actually did a "pin to start" for the DSD+. Opens right up now. Still no decoding and meant to mention earlier it's also giving me a sync: no sync prompt. Signal is great....actually nearly looking at the tower. And my Uniden sds200 operates perfectly and running off the same outdoor discone. And decodes great. Occasionally I also get a prompt that says UNKNOWN TYPE. Kinda thinking it might be a data problem within DSD+. And instead of using VAC just going through the ICOM Remote utility. Can see and hear the audio coming through...but still not decoded. Sorry for the long reply.
The embedded circuit board Codec is capable of decoding DMR -- not sure about C4FM although I believe this to also be a possibility .. direct from the receiver. However, due to licencing agreement(s) by Icom, they have chosen to not allow this. You can read the reason why (Icom's stance on DMR) here ... www.icomamerica.com/en/media_events/news/NewsArticle.aspx?id=201101
Very misleading, we can all listen to DMR with your average run of the mill dongle and added software..I thought this was a program update to listen to DMR directly from the Icom IC-R8600..2000 pounds and we can't even listen to DMR direct, but Anytone for a tenth of the price gives us access. Tut tut tut..
Just where exactly is this video misleading? The beginning of the video explains what you need in order for the IC-R8600 to decode DMR transmissions. It is widely talked about that the R8600 does not have DMR as a standard decode mode; thus, the workaround is to follow this video. You clearly had other expectations and were disappointed - you state you thought this was a program update to listen to DMR directly from the R8600 - if you watched the video in full, you would not have 'thought' and commented what you did. However, your comment has been noted and any future videos I make I will try my best to make sure they do not give out misleading expectations/information.

If the IC-R8600 could also decode DMR and C4FM without a Computer I would order it tomorrow....i use a SDRplay with SDS+....

This is frigging painful having to listen to this annoying robotic voice.
Thanks for the feedback. Will consider not using digital voice over in future videos.
I agree its terrible

Might of? It is might have. If you wish to be taken seriously, learn English.
Thanks for the advice. I'll remember when making my next video.
Wow chill out dude
that was uncalled for
