I'd love for you to do Maite García's The Most Beautiful. And Deryck W from Sum 41 has released an interesting memoir recently. It mentions Paris Hilton a lot! Do you take requests on Patreon? Like voting? Do you have a video where you explain your selection process?
There is something unbelievably superficial and obnoxious about not only not knowing the historic context of the things you guys talk about, but doing so from a place of such an unearned confidence. I truly cannot imagine reading a book about something for which I have *zero* context and then sharing my out of pocket hot takes on it with an impressionable audience. I’m rarely bothered by anything on social media but watching this made me feel depressed for people’s brains
@estrellagarciaramora8721 I’m *not* particularly a Bikini Kill fan but the absolute lack of any historical knowledge (about something that was only like 30 years ago) is truly unfathomable
@@funeralforahorse I think that's the point... The book should stand on its own. If it's not in the book, they won't mention it. I like doing my own research as a reader, but perhaps as a critic this is a valid strategy.
@@estrellagarciazamora8721 that’s a terrible concept for literary criticism - no one whose job it is to analyse literature would proudly state “I refuse to learn anything that isn’t in the actual text of the book”

@funeralforahorse It is an approach. Death of the author. As applied to a non fiction book, I can see it doesn't convince you.
