    Thanks for the tips on parts difference, especially the teeth. Seems like common sense, but now I understand some of the issues I had with second and third cutting.

    Nice, I just bought an old IH35 and was wondering if I need that small long shaft that runs from the left side tire to the right and was wondering what do they call that shaft, it looks like it does nothing for it..

    Thank you. I need to replace a drive shaft and teeth on my 260 rake. This was helpful.

    Good work. Those tires should cut down on ground slippage. We had a 256 around for a long time. Ours had the rubber mounted teeth. Did you consider changing over to those? I forget if they are more or less expensive but they are easier to put on, just a bolt. I assume you checked, but the components in the overriding clutches behind the wheels (dogs, springs, pins) can wear out too. I replaced the drive shaft once, I think I took the gearbox apart and removed the top yoke. Been too long ago for me to remember if that was a PITA.

      The rubber teeth were almost 3x as expensive as the spring teeth. I just could not see spending that much money lol I like your new profile pic 🙂

    Good video, when yr doing u-joints, take grease nipple out, put a good gob of grease in caps so niddles don't fall out when putting new u-joint in place, the access grease will push out grease fitting hole

    I remember my dad always ran winter snow tires on our rake. They did not skid on the ground like the summer tires did. Made for a more positive drive of the teeth wheel or whatever you call it.

    Yes when you were showing the issue with the teeth, that was my idea also to cut off the extra to fit the holder.

    Trying to remember. That pin that had to be removed to disconnect the driveshaft, that's the one that's removed for road transport?

    I bet you those ag tires are cheaper than regular rake tires. Nice looking rakes. Did you get a double rake hitch? Do the bars have 2 or 3 holes in them. I run 3 teeth through the middle and 2 teeth on the ends of my IH rake.

    • @dehavenfamilyfarm
      @dehavenfamilyfarm  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I was unable to find a double hitch for them that wasn't a lot of $$. This rake just has the 2 holes- I think it would definitely be better with 3. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    Love your video! I'm working on a NH55. Where did you order your new parts at (drive shaft,spacers etc)?

    Nice fix cutting the teeth loop shorter. When I do u joints I put a little electrical tape around the other side of the cross to hold them caps on while I’m putting the first part back together. Normally I’m beating and Banging and drop a cap off and lose the needles. Lol. Have a good week buddy

    • @dehavenfamilyfarm
      @dehavenfamilyfarm  4 роки тому

      I'll have to remember that trick with the tape! One time, I lost one needle bearing on my baler PTO shaft, and had to go buy the whole u joint just for one tiny piece lol

    A lot of those rakes came with the rubber mounted teeth. We used to tare them up all the time. Changed to old school spring mounts, they hold up better on ground drive rakes!! BTW, I hate the axle driveline on the 56 and newer rakes!! The old 55 rake had a straight axle driveline, no U joints to bust up👍
    Our 216 V rake has all rubber mounted teeth, they are heavier and hold up well!! But it's hydralic drive too..
    We've always put good M&S car tires on the little rakes, just gotta fill the tires👍😎
    Shoupe has good inexpensive rake teeth....
    Cutting the end off the loop is what I would have done too!!
    That 1/4" difference between teeth probably isn't an issue, look at the difference between a new one you put in vs the old one next to it...
    We've actually cut new teeth off because an inch longer is too much

      This is the first rake I have owned with rubber teeth. People say they are better, but I am not paying almost $10 each for them lol These driveshaft assemblies are strange. The other rake in the background of this video is a 256 and has a different style driveshaft on it. Who knows why?? 😂

    • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin
      @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin 4 роки тому +1

      @@dehavenfamilyfarm ya, we went from rubber to spring tines on the little rakes because we beat the teeth up so bad.. spring teeth have held up better.
      On the hydralic drive, I think the heavy rubber are better though..

    I'd have cut the hook too. Will the bar accept rubber mounted teeth too or is that a different style altogether

    • @dehavenfamilyfarm
      @dehavenfamilyfarm  4 роки тому

      It would take the rubber teeth, but they cost three times as much lol

      I sold that years ago. It was a good tractor, but didn't have power shift- which is extremely helpful on our hills around here. Thanks for watching.

    Zip 5mm off the eye of the new finger with a angle grinder, may fit in old clips then ?
