- Hey everyone,
I made a follow up to my walkthrough of the Scott Aspect 940 mountain bike. Here I walk through some of the parts I've upgraded and some accessories that I've gotten.
I've been using this bike daily for commuting about 5 miles and I've tried to hit my local trails at least once a week.
To see my full walkthrough of this bike see my other video here: • Scott Aspect 940 Mount...
Nice upgrades. I have the Aspect 950 and I did some upgrades too. First, I upgraded the transmission. I went for Deore 11 speed - the whole setup; the shifter, chain, cassette, derailleur, cranks. It’s a night and day difference when changing gears. The whole bike is way more silent and lighter too. I also upgraded the seat - had the same Syncross and now I have Riderace Memory Foam one. Lastly, I changed the pedals to SQ lab pedals. I have a nice bike bag that fits on the frame to hold my phone and other small items. I love it!
I got lucky enough to pick up one of these bad boys a few days ago..it was the last one left at the store lol. Happy trail riding!
I was looking for a bike June 2020.
The orange was the last 1 in my size
Clocked up around 1350 miles so far.
Love the love and ride.
Seems like you love your bike, nice! I love my Scotts too, as a matter of fact I've been upgrading my Voltage hardtail part by part just like you for years, it's a thing of beauty now, but I'll never be satisfied... Keep rolling bro, ang get more orange for the pimp in you. ✌️
Yeah I am really liking it. Preparing for my first race right now. Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks Gustavo!! Could you please share a picture of the drilled hole?
Very nice Scott are the best.
Very nice bike!!
Thanks
The saddle was ok but I had to change to a women's saddle. I gave the syncros saddle to my bf though and he's using it on his old Trek.
Glad it is working for your boyfriend
Nice upgrades🙂
Thanks 👍
Hi my friend. Love this bicykel, could you please tell which size should i get? I’m 199 cm (6,5f) on stores they have only size XL.. is that enough for me?
Many thanks
i think it should be enough, i'm 180cm and ride a M size pretty comfortably, just make sure adjust the seat height to your needs.
For someone who's 6 ft, which frame do you suggest? L or XL?
I'm comfortable with 27er tyres. Cheers from Bombay, India 👍
I’d say go 29 and do a L
Can the tire wheelbase take 2.6 width or more?...
2.6 I think so. More than that might be pushing it
@@phlr
Got it, thanks...👍
Does the altus do a good job? Its the most basic shimano line. I had a scale that came with XT and loved it but cant find a scale around but found a cool aspect that come with altus. Thanx
Altus works fine. Like you said it's lower end but I didn't have a lot of issues shifting. Mainly I had some chain drops from the 2x system. If it's any consolation you could easily upgrade to a 1x11 Deore later or even a SRAM groupset with the NX cassette with this bike. So there are options if you wanna upgrade down the line.
Someone can me tell me top speed this bike?
@@grzegorzandrzej1864 my max speed was 56,8 km/h
How tall are you? And what size of bike have you got?
I'm 5'6"...i have a a small size frame
That's a good bike. What year that bike?
2019
Hello! Do you know if it is possible to install an internally routed dropper seat post on this model?
It’s not. You have to drill into the frame. I did it and it works fine. But it voids your warranty
hi, did you upgrade your tire by any chance as of now? i was planning to change my stock tire of 29x2.4 with new skinwall tire 29x2.5 or 2.6, now im afraid im making huge mistake cause i already ordered on amazon 29x2.5 or 2.6
I did not upgrade the tires. I'm guessing you will be fine. There is some clearance still on the frame. But I cannot be 100% sure.
Hey bro, what your opinion about this bike or marlin 6?
They are both extremely similar. I'd buy whichever one you can actually find.
Can you upgrade suspension on scott aspect 960 and if yes, what is the best fork for one?
Tricky thing is that it has to be a straight steer fork. Most higher end forks are tapered.
For this bike the most I would consider is a rocksocks recon or a suntour epixon.
@@phlr thanks for replying, also another question is how much travel can I go up to to not make a mistake and which one of the two aformentioned would you really really recommend?
@@ТомиславСтојанов I wouldn’t go pass the 120mm mark
@@phlr okayy thank youu
@@phlr rockshox recon silver or?
How much is it? Very cool bike
I paid $699 for it a year ago
Do you know if the wheels are tubeless compatible ?
They are not
Is the kenda booster tubeless ready?
It’s not. Mine has a wire bead
Can you film a ride on a trail.
That would be pretty cool
Im preparing for my first race so I am thinking about doing some of this. Thanks for the suggestion!
is this bike nice for climbing and some basic trails? thank you
Yes... Climbs well since it has a wide range of gears. The remote lockout is also nice on climbs. I've done easy to intermediate trails where I live without any issue. Take note I live nowhere near real mountains so your easy/intermediate trails might be different.
Overall for the price is a solid bike.
@@phlr ok thank you. Im planing to buy a bike just so i can do something beside swimming and some local trails and it should be ok
Which one to pick trek marlin 6 or Scott aspect 940 please suggest
@@munnakumar-sq8cm trek
@@munnakumar-sq8cm hard question... I probably would have bought the marlin 6 if it was in stock when I got my Scott. Honestly they are very similar bikes. The geometry is a little different and the Scott has a few higher end components like the Deore (altus in the Trek) derailleur and the Shimano breaks. Also you get one more gear in the back with the Scott.
So it all comes down to preference.
I'd say pure components wise the Scott is a better bike. Although if you wanna spend a little more the Marlin 7 is definitely a better bike with better components at a really good price.
What size pedals did you get for this bike?
I ordered some Race Face Chesters. They only come in one size
@@phlr what size is that beautiful bike
@@emilianofranco8562 this is a small frame
@@phlr tank you
Does the color fades since it is orange?
Haven't noticed any color fading. Id suggest putting a better chain guard on though since the clear sticker that's on there is not enough to cover the chainstay and the paint can chip.
what size is the frame? Small?
Yes I have the small size frame
is it tapered?
No. Straight head tube for this one.
How much was it?
The bike MSRP is $699. I had some coupons.
hi..in my country, a person sells such a bike, the same model. in excellent condition for 320 euros. it's worth buying. thanks
How much it is your bike
I paid $699 USD
@@phlr how tall are you? , What is your bike size? And what is your frame size ? Please reply
@@dakshinanipun9777 I'm 5'6". Using a Small frame
@@phlr thanks brother 🤜❤️🤛
Pretty similar with Trek Marlin5 2020
I mean body frame
Yeah this and the Marlin series are very comparable. This is why my local store starting carrying them because they could not get Marlins in stock
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍samarkand
Is it tapered?
No. Standard straight on this one.
@@phlr can you telling me top speed this bike. Thanks
@@grzegorzandrzej1864 no idea to be honest. It would depend on the terrain you are riding and how much you can pedal
@@phlr thanku for unser. 16 gears is enough ?
@@grzegorzandrzej1864 for a bike like this it is plenty. I actually made another video on my channel to make this bike a 1x11 and I still think that's more than enough
