ggs jimmy 1:44 is this a modern-only combo? I couldn't reproduce it in training mode. My guess is it requires a 1F HP shoryuken, or at least faster than I can execute it, after the HP hashogeki and microwalk forward.
Instead of modern and classic I’m starting to think they should’ve named them strategist and specialist, every time I see a modern player I think of a chess player, simple movements that build up to a victory; while on the other end classic has access to everything in a character’s kit so there’s more to utilize but ofc a bigger risk if you don’t know what’s going on
the hell are you on about? bro is playing a one button fighter, there is nothing strategic or special going on there. Let me explain the 'risk' to you scrubs, by only using 1 button, modern controls give instant attacks allowing for otherwise impossible reactions
@@kay_792you know most top level modern players use motion inputs for specials and only one button stuff for reactions right? And that they also do less damage and lose normals so it’s more of a handicap at high level.
@@johkerx9107 that’s what I’m sayin, ppl are acting like modern players are winning everything which just isn’t the case at all, sure they’re definitely times where the match up is difficult (modern guile💀) but not every match is a guaranteed L you just gotta be patient

Modern control hurted bad players so much that after 1 year there's still people saying that playing "modern Ryu is a sacrilege". Ppl still think that when you play modern controls you get a free win or something lmao.
Modern in lower ranks is awful. Frankly it wouldn’t be that bad if it weren’t for assist combos. In a rank where players can’t do huge combos consistently into level 3, being able to mash one button and get a 40% guaranteed punish combo is frustrating.
@@thiago4santos Yeah, don't know what that guy is talking about, lower ranked matches against modern controls is just watching your opponent burn themselves out almost immediately lol
@@calebcanning318 It's actually great in low ranks. It allows the players in those ranks to shut down the SF6 spazztard offense and force more defense and neutral.
@@IcyTorment it promotes spaztard offense against players who can’t get consistent special moves and supers. Not to mention all modern players at those low ranks have to do is spam drive impact into their level 3 assist combo.

you're supposed to make up for that by having modern reactions though. you don't need optimal combos if you have a strong fireball and anti-air game. also don't really need bHP to AA with modern DP.
Tech -10000/10, the number of conservative throws was just unbelievable, reads on this game 0/10, anti air (on cross ups) 0/10, confirms (last game) 0/10 What the hell happened?
Modern controls shouldn’t be queued with classic in ranked. Even when I win I’m still thoroughly annoyed. Casuals it’s whatever but ranked? Nah fam. All they need to do is mash and tap you once. Mash their 2 button CA so that way once there is a gap you’re fucked. Extremely unfair cause that’s something you cannot react to.
Mashing an easy input level 3, or any reversal for that matter the moment you're in block stun is not a good, let alone "extremely unfair" tactic at all lol. Modern only provides a genuine advantage at low ranks where people are largely unable to execute the specials the Modern Controls users can do one or two button presses. Past a certain point, what ends up really helping is the consistency at which you can anti-air people, EX DP on reaction to certain things and having a 1 button counter to DI when in burn out, if the character in question has a strike invul armor breaking level 1. While being able to do this is insanely useful, essentially all modern characters are objectively worse than their classic counterparts because of the normals and at times special variations they lose. (for example, Modern Ken can perform a Hadoken with one button, but it is locked to be H Hadoken, he completely loses access to Light and Medium Hadoken which hurts his neutral game) Modern Ryu here is able to run a basic Ryu gameplan, as (unlike Modern Ken) he is able to use all his Hadoken variations. He still loses some important normals, which limits his gameplan in melee range to be pretty one dimensional, but Infectious was able to manage. Outside of maybe one or two interactions , none of things he did is something you wouldn't expect a similarly rated Classic Ryu to be able to execute consistently, he mostly likely opts to play modern to stay as consistent as possible. People at the highest level of play mostly never use modern controls, since the loss of normals prevents most modern characters from having the nuance in their approach and neutral needed to make a difference at that level of play.
Actually shouldn't it be casual where you should be able to choose and ranked it's always both as ranked is supposed to simulate a competitive environment and modern is allowed in tournaments
Man I miss Infexious. Hope to see him back on the pro scene soon. Legendary composure on the dude.
Have been waiting for this. SF6 is technically my 1st fighting game and the old videos from both of you helped me alot.
This video was eye candy for a filthy modern ryu player like myself. Thanks to this video I learnt infexious plays modern ryu 😂
Nothing filthy about playing modern
Modern has nothing to do with it... the guy was good at figuring out his opponent and making adjustments... very smart ryu play

Same here brother a modern Ryu player whos dream is to make master

To be honest I haven't tried this myself but it should work. There are no combos exclusive to Modern controls.
@@mdz_jimmy there are some when it involves micro walk lvl 3 super. Luke has many exclusive modern combos for example but they are not optimal.
