Crystal Wyvern Guide for ARK: Survival Evolved

- In this video I will show you where to find and how to tame the three types of crystal wyverns that are available in ARK: survival Evolved's new map Crystal Isles. There are 3 variants of the crystal wyverns in the new map, tropical crystal wyverns, blood crystal wyverns and ember crystal wyverns and all do differnet things but are all tamed in the same way.
This video will show you how to use crystal to passively tame the three types and also how to find Primal Crystal which can speed up the taming of these wyverns by an order of magnitude!
In order to get primal crystal you will have to fight an alpha crystal wyvern which is also shown in this video!

Actually I've heard the ember has a rage ability more you breath fire the stronger the breath impact damage is.
well breathing Fire fills the rage meter and as soon as it's above a certain amount the fire does (i think) double dmg (or +50%, not shure), it's not a continuous increase
It also turns blue
Imagine being able to crossbreed different wyverns with different elemental and crystal powers
and certain combos have a chance to mutate into a different type, poison + fire = Phosphorus. similar to quirks in my hero academia

Ember Wyvern’s breath a narrower version of the Fire Wyvern’s, and it does more damage. It also (apparently) deals more damage the longer you use it.
An easier way to get primal crystals: just knock out a normal one, walk up to it, press E (take crystals option).

Was gonna set up traps on our server to test this out later. But it’s what we have also heard. The primal crystals are like the wyvern milk. You can either kill alphas for them or knock out and take from regular females. In this case the since it’s just crystals it might work for both

The more u breath fire with the ember crystal wyverns there rage meter goes up and does more damage each time

If you can, jumping up on it's back, and going prone is a great way for taming them. You'll simply stay put on it's back while it's flying and you can easily kep on feeding it.
Can be a bit of a challenge to get up on it's back though, since they barely stay still. I used a Parasaur and dismounted close to a Crystal Wyvern, in order to get up on it's back.
I used the exact same technique and despite them moving across the air it was very easy if I didn‘t move 😅

I hope so, when the map launched I thought that the Crystal Queen was a new model for crystal wyverns and I got so excited.
I'd be down for any kind of breeding, they appear to be smaller than ordinary wyverns but I'm not sure as I haven't gotten a good look at them next to each other. Color combos would be tight I'd love to have the blood black with the bright blues and pinks. I'm just really hoping they add custom models and I know that Wyverns are reletively new compared to some other creature but I hope they get TLC. Wyverns feel underwhelming now, especially since most flyers can dive bomb and shit. Would love to see that on my Ice Wyvern.
I ALUCARD 6I i won’t be able to test it for ages , apparently CI isn’t out on PS4 until September but I think it’s out now . I play on official servers and every1 on there said it’s out 2 hrs later . I’ll tell you size difference and shit like that later if u don’t already know

"water breath" I tamed one and it looks like a mixture of water and steam.... aka boiling water... aka scolding damage, which 100% would do damage IRL as its a water burn, so its not that strange, but it is sorta unique in turms of how to deal damage with elements
Just something to add to the ember
It has a rage meter
This fills up the more you breath fire
The more you breath fire the stronger it gets
Once this meter is full the flames turn blue

The ember crystal wyvern actually has a pretty cool breath attack (the more you use it the higher the damage)
You missed a few things.
1: You need to be a minimum of level 65 to tame a Crystal Wyvern passively. If you walk up to it at lower levels you'll get a gray message on it saying 'requires level 65'.
2: You can get Primal Crystal from KOing regular Crystal Wyverns. They will regenerate it every hour so you could either keep it tranquilised or build a cage around it and KO it again later. As far as I am aware you cannot get Primal Crystal from your own tame Crystal Wyverns, you specially have to harvest it from wild ones.
3: You can also get eggs from the nests guarded by Crystal Wyvern Heirs. As you said, Heirs cannot be tamed just like regular Wyverns, so this is a more traditional Wyvern 'taming' method. Just like how baby Wyverns only ate Wyvern Milk, baby Crystal Wyverns will only eat Primal Crystal.
4: Unlike regular Wyverns, Crystal Wyverns can breed.
Bonus point: I've heard that you can use a grappling hook or drop onto the Crystal Wyvern's back to make it easier to stay with them between feedings.

@@jessebechtel4614 little tip I've tried myself. You can climb on their back and sit on the wild ones as they fly around, making feeding them a cinch since they always take off after a feed

Two stone dino gateways can be used to trap them. When it lands and starts walking (or is already stuck on a tree) place the first gateway so just it's head and neck are poking through. Once that is down quickly move forward and set the second on down just behind the wings. It can take a few tries but once it is stuck you can tame/knock out very easily.

If you continuously breath fire about 4 times on the ember the fire will turn blue and start doing more damage
I figured out you can just park a pt nearby and dismount misair and prone on the wyverns back. Surprisingly you wont fall off if you stay still and you can just remember where you left the PT. 👍
You can stand on the back of wild wyverns and feed them and you will stay on their back when they take off. They will never land so it completely safe and easy to tame. I also just found out that if you knock out wyverns u can harvest primal crystals from them.

well the ember wyvern seems pretty cool because it has a longer range and more narrow flame then the previous fire wyvern.
I belive that primal crystals can also be harvested from unconscious crystal wyverns ala Wyvern milk. I can not confirm this however.

Knocking out regular crystal wyverns will result in you getting a variant of crystal that does work better than regular crystals. It goes from worst to best: regular crystals, elemental crystals, then primal crystals.
For beginners: Doing the island note run can get you to the perfect level to tame these bad boys.

I'm pretty sure you can get Primal crystals from harvesting dead crystal wyverns with a metal pick
Also the have a different skin than the ones you got there , they're black instead of rainbow

Thats the mod, this is the official release.
The mod has primal crystals dropping from regular crystal wyverns and black crystals instead of colorful ones.
The map was originally a mod but recently was made into an official map with some changes

If you knock out the normal crystal wyverns you can get the primal crystal by walking up to the wyvern and pressing the interact button or key, then just let it wake up which for me a 15k torpor wyvrn took around 4 to 5 minutes

You probably figured this out, but if you knock out a crystal wyvern, you can scrape primal crystals off, like a whale. It's an easier method to gain those. It also makes the low-level ones viable for something

That's not how developer suggested to tame crystal wyvern. Its wayy easier and honestly really fun if you get back on the back of wyvern before feeding it crystal. It'll roam over skies while you bond with it. IMO best taming procedure in all of the ark history
(nooblets gaming or smthning similar channel name created great tutorial about it)
You can breed them and the aggressive ones are guarding nests if you want to raise them the old fashioned way
I'm pretty sure you can only passive tame the Tropical wyvern and that's it.
Blood and Ember wyverns are naturally hostile if you come near them.

they are. I just did it on my single player. they also glow in the dark..... lol

you can't get primal crystals any more from killing wyverns. Easiest way to tame the crystal wyverns when feeding them crystals is to just jump on their backs and lay down. You can feed it crystals when its hungry while flying. I've tamed both of my wyverns that way already today.

I was a fresh spawn got on its back eith some crytal but it didnt give me an option to feed it (my charractee was level 12 on official)

Primal crystals can be obtained by knocking out any crystal wyvern (similar to wyvern milk with the regular wyverns, but the primal crystals can be obtained from both genders)

Just OBS. I run a 20000k bit rate in CBR and that allows it to come in pretty crisp at 60 fps.

u should be able to knock out ne wyvern and check its inventory for primal crystals just like u do for milk. also u can lure them with honey into a trap to tranq out

Ember wyvern has a rage meter.. more you use its fire breath its damage and DoT increases. If anything its the DPS wyvern
Why do the primal crystals expire? Their rocks! And rocks don't rot!
Also, I think the Ember Crystal Wyvern should get a heat buff like the Magmasaur when in hot terrain such as deserts and volcanos.

The primals crystals have a 45 minute timer except in a crystal wyverns inventory.. then it lasts for 6 hours.
If you knock out normal crystal wyvern it will give primal crystal the higher level the more primal crystal also there aggressive after you take them
I know I'm 4 years late, but we can get the primal crystals from Heir ones, we just need to tranq them and when we look at them, it says "get crystals" on them that easily.
little info for everyone ember wyfern are strongest because they have a rage mode and you can get primal crystals from downing wyferns and the you can harvest them

The heirs aren’t passively tamed, but they have nests and you can steal the eggs, I believe.

I tamed 4 with regular Crystals yesterday. Did it just change or somethin?
@@chrisjimenez3352 I tried several times to tame with simple crystals, taming reaches 60-70% and decreases. Simple crystals do not work. Official server.
@@chrisjimenez3352 Up to like level 50 works with regular crystal but even low levels will fail. Crystal is not the intended food. Taming reaches ~80% then next feed it will drop taming.
Tamed a level 130 using regular crystal with no problems yesterday
With the heir you can do the normal way of getting a wyvern by stealing their eggs and to get primal crystal you can tranq a crystal wyvern and take primal crystals from them

Can I ask something important man? Was this recorded on the full release or on the mod? A lot of people made their early day vids on the mod version and A LOT has changed, some locations aren’t there anymore.. such as caves and base locations and spawns, just helps before risking losing stuff haha! Love the vids though brother, huge help!
You can also just knock a wyvern out and go up to it and it will say take primal crystals and you get primal crystals
I like the guides to it shows me I'm better then another gamer that has same excuse it takes to long to tame when they clearly just can't play the game

I mainly play extinction map so I’m just gonna hope into the crystal illis just to get me a crystal wyvern lol
Bruh these are so cool
Tame yourself a Pteranodon and set it to follow you and make a bunch of parachutes. Then climb on the back of the wild crystal wyvern. When you feed it it will take off and you will go with it still on its back, try to keep facing the back of its head this will help you stay on then feed it every time it gets hungry until tamed. If you fall off use the parachute to land safely then get on your Pteranodon (which should have been following you) chase down the wyvern and when it lands repeat the process until tamed.
You can grapple on the back of the wyvern so you don’t have to constantly follow it

I’ve spent that past 7 hours making a tropical, ember, and blood crystal wyvern army then breeding them
Seen somewhere that the ember wyvern has a rage meter (heart symbol) like a giga or rhino
Whenever I try to tame one with normal crystals it reaches 80% and falls down
You can't tame it with reg crystals for some reason
You can tame with Reg crystals but only a really low level like 15-25

Reedz you need to kill a crystal wyvern for the best variant of the crystals.
Reedz From what ive done so far ive knocked out 2 Lvl 20 got 4 primal each and 1 lvl15 got 2 primal...and It took 8 primals to tame a 145 this all 4x btw
You can also knock out a normal tropical crystal wyvern and interact with it to get primal Crystal's

For all people Ember crystal wyvern if you gonna use fire all the time heart fills up and he attacks with super fire
yup. Everyone just looks at it and thinks its fire wyvern with reskin but its actually better than a fire wyvern. I do wish they had done some lightning wyverns too though. For example, the tropical would be a lot better suited as a lightning wyvern but with a water cannon effect so it would be long-range. Right now the blood and ember wyverns are way better than tropical.
@@hj2479 Is it even worth taking one of the other two wyverns over the ember wyvern? Between its damage, its rage meter, and its longer range, it seems like the other two varieties simply pale in comparison overall.
For peaceful wyverns you can climb onto their backs and just let they hold you in sky and feed them

It's legitimately a bit disappointing that the ember wyverns are so much better than the other two. The scaling of its breath weapon from the rage meter makes it broken as shit.

I don't think you mentionned it, but you need to be level 65 to be able to feed the wyverns. Otherwise the game won't let you.
