Matt Mercer has 1000% made me want to be a better man. this is what masculinity should be, care and value for their friends and being protective of that
Before Matt, I used to think I wasn't masculine. I've even called myself a feminine dude, but honestly my masculinity may have just evolved beyond traditional expectations. Matt is such an inspiration in every sense of the word.
To think that most of them became friends because Liam and Sam wanted to play D&D one day for a birthday one shot and it became this, its such a cool story. I try not to get attached to celebrities but I do want to emulate what they have, that kind of bond and friendship they all share. Oh man I’m so jealous (in a good way) 😂
And this is why i think Critical role is so succesfull. Everything they do, they do with love and care for each other, not for money or fame. They do what they love with people they care for. And its so amazing to watch good things come to good people like them.
Strip away the franchise, the publicity, the media, the fans and the trend, and they really are just a good group of friends enjoying dnd. Mad respect for that.
It’s why I was worried about the possible TPK. Not just because they were all going down, but I was worried about how Matt was going to deal emotionally away from the table. As someone who has played and DMed, I’m so acutely aware of the lasting effects of the session, and if I do something that might make something not enjoyable, I feel that in my soul. But seeing this makes me glad, because you can tell they all would have been making sure he’s okay if that started to show.
I think there are a lot of CR fans who look at this group of friends like they’re on the other side of glass at an exhibit, jealous of what the cast has and what they feel cut off from. I certainly feel that way sometimes. The community is big though, and kind. I’d like to make it to a con one day.
@@feitocomfruta Its why I do appreciate that so many of them ended the session with saying it was awesome. Even people whose characters were dead or close to death were reassuring without taking away from the gravity of the situation. Matt knows that the episode was absolutely brutal and gut wrenching, but he also knew that his players could take it and enjoy it as a part of the game. Some tables like that stuff, some don't, but Matt is well in tune with how to hurt his players through their PCs in a way that still enhances their experience and builds upon the game they all want to play.
I've commented on this before but fuck I LOVE how Travis goes "we go hug on matt, we go hug on matt" and just CHARGES I love Matt but Travis seems like the best/most huggable dad on the fucking planet, which has all the more gravity knowing that his dad died when he was young. Matt makes me want to be a better man, but if I am ever a father (god forbid lol), Travis is the goal
I love how everyone sort of tries to defuse it a little by making jokes. Sam's "who's hand is that", someone making a mouth fart, and Liam's "Where's my Wallet!?" Not that Matt's emotions aren't valid and needing to be difused, it just shows how they take care of one another.
While I feel like C2's song slapped harder (imo) and was more fun to sing along with, I do adore that this theme song involved the cast so much more and showcased their musical talents, and visually I loved the intro!
C3's song has really grown on me. I liked the live-action intro the best and when it comes on it feels as exciting as C2 for me now. I think the campaigns just needed to pick up real speed before we felt the lyrics!
I totally remember Sam commenting specifically how good a singer Matt is and how one thing he wanted to do in the future was play something that made Matt sing more lmao
Tal, Laur, Ash, Liam, Sam, Risha, Trav and Mattie have inspired me in many creative endeavours. I hope they know that they have helped millions of people find their voices and their passions. #WeLoveYouCriticalRole

I love this moments with Matt. Because of the way the show is structured it always appears to be some distance between him and the rest of the cast. That's why I like when he makes everybody at the table laugh.
I can't believe how many times they've brought me to tears - through emotional stories, but also just being themselves. So humble, kind and passionate. Here I am, a 34 year old guy, on the other side of the planet, bawling my eyes out because Matt is such an amazing human being*. Again. *Well, trash robot too.

Way I feel about this, it's exemplified by The Legend of Vox Machina, and what Pike said to Keyleth: "You're their light now. Keep them out of darkness." With everything going on in the world, including the threat of nuclear war(!), with all of the pointless and foolish things that have been happening in recent months, I feel as if the societal darkness is not necessarily a literal one. And yet, these wonderful people, for whatever reason, decided to originally play a game of Dungeons and Dragons, and then brought that to live-streaming because of Felicia Day and Geek & Sundry. Who knew that those decisions would become the light that many of us use to keep our own lives from descending further into the darkness? I would, if I could, tell Matt, "Thank you and your friends for being that light we need to guide us through the darkness we face in the world. Whether or not you know it, what you do is appreciated and loved by tens and hundreds of thousands of people. We are truly honored and grateful to be able to watch you and a bunch of nerdy-ass voice-actors sit around and play Dungeons and Dragons, because gods know, with everything going on in the world, many times it just gets to be too much. And then you and Critical Role come around, and remind of us why living life is worth it. Again, thank you, Matt, you and the cast and crew, for what it is that you do."
And that is what sets them apart! The friendships and regard for each other. One can only hope as they continue to grow no-one gets greedy and they all have to go their own way. That would be heartbreaking.
