Thank you so much! This is such an awesome compliment! If you want to hear more of our music, you can go to our music channel: ua-cam.com/video/hxwWUk6WzJ8/v-deo.html Which mic in the line up was your favorite?
Beautiful voice and outstanding guitar playing. I almost fell asleep listening. It's just so soothing to my ears. 😌 Probably gonna cop the mouse in the near future and the bottle when I hit the lotto.
I just realized you have the pins in on the BLUE mics. Those are supposed to come out when the microphones are in use. I'm not sure how those would affect the sound, but it's an observation.
James, the three screws on the blue capsules are supposed to be removed when in use. They are really just to isolate the capsule to prevent damage when moving the mic from one location to another.
I liked the mouse best on his vocal and the cactus best on the guitar, but overall, i think I'd pick the mouse out of all the mics here, it really impressed me! I already have the sm7b though and you can't go wrong with one of those provided it's capturing a good song and performance. Great video!!
Late to the party, but really well done. I agree, the Bottle is just gorgeous. So are the others, but I found myself thinking there was almost no difference at all between the processed vs unprocessed sound from the Bottle, other than the reverb. So nice - great performances.
Thanks for the shootout. After watching this, I think I'm not going to purchase another Blue mic. I'm a big fan of Blue, and have a baby bottle and a kiwi. But I noticed that Blue generally goes harsh with my vocal. I've heard a lot of people saying how bright the bottle can be and how wooly the cactus can be, and I guess you've perfectly showed that. I also have an SM7B, and honestly I think it matched the vocal better though much cheaper. The SM7B just takes the power of the vocal so good.
You're welcome! We enjoyed doing it and will have many more to come. Really, all of these mics have pros and cons. I think you could make a good recording with any of them. I did like the mouse on my guitar, and the bottle on the vocals, while the cactus had a little too much mids for my purposes. The thing about the SM7B is it doesn't do well with soft singers because it requires so much gain, but for a powerful singer, it is great. All that being said, I made this so that people could make up their own mind and make informed decisions. I am very happy I could help you with that!
I agree 100% on the Mouse for Guitar and the Bottle for Vocals. I also dug on the Cactus in general, it had a bit more warmth than any of the rest shown, good tonal colouration in my opinion.
the Cactus definitely had a very warm sound, great for a more vintage feel. I thought thy all sounded great and would have their own applications in the studio. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@mattingramsound *Vintage* yes! That's the word I was looking for! That nailed it. Probably why I like it, my influences tend more towards the 70s, so yes. Thank you for wordsing better than I could!
The bottle cut thru the best it had more volume but without it being overally bright it sounded thin but full weird concept idk how but the mouse had good smooth bottom end sad they don’t make the cactus anymore
I don't typically use the 87 with Luis, (the vocalist), or this kind of rock music. The 7B is one of the most popular rock mics ever made, and they are more affordable so many more home engineers are likely to have them. It is a great baseline for that reason. Condenser vs Dynamic is not that relevant.
TFTGear, firstly I have a few shootouts on my channel. Generally, I set all the mics up and do one take so there is no variation on the performance which can alter our perception of each microphone. However, the singer was really consistent. I came here to hear the Mouse, which I thought was really nice and worked fine. My favorite was the Cactus. I’m a big fan of warm vintage style mics. I thought the Bottle with the B6 Cap worked well too and might be the better choice in a thick rock mix. I’d love to hear the Cactus next to the Bottle with the B7 Cap. I’m curious how close they would be.
The Cactus definitely had a warm vintage vibe to it. I really liked the Mouse on my guitar, but I think I preferred the Bottle on the vocals. You could easily make a great recording with any of these mics.
TFTGear what’s awesome about what we do is that neither of us is wrong. Both of us could record the same song with the same artist and produce completely different final products that would be perfectly acceptable. It’s about finding your own style and aesthetic.
Thanks for this video. Can you tell me which mic stand you used for the Blue Bottle? I’m having a hard time finding something that can support such a large mic.
I do hear a pretty big difference. Whether you think it's worth the difference in price is up to you. The nice thing about the bottle is the interchangeable capsules. It can be an entire mic locker in one. The rest of the capsules sound great as well.
TFTGear Woodpecker is an active ribbon. One of the few ribbons to require phantom power as it takes advantage of certain high-end sparkle most ribbons don't have. Most ribbons are passive anyway.
The Blue Mouse is a very good option, and much less expensive than the U87. The U87 is a classic though, and remains one of the most popular mics to date for a reason. It really comes down to budget.
The smb sounded nice and predictable. The mouse sounded warmer and more detailed. The cactus was too bright for his vocal! The bottle was perfect for him. Warmest of therm all, with a good midrange for his voice. This mic is not suited for deeper voices imo.
I think Blue Mouse is the most versatile and it has an interesting proximity character, while Cactus sounds vintage with a lot of high overtones. Bottle sounds boring without any character and it represents too much details, which can be both friend or foe for performer. Definitely not the best tube condenser mic.
I loved the cactus with the instrumental portion and the bottle for the vocals
I came for a Blue Shootout but I got drawn into the high quality singing, playing and songwriting. Bet you guys sound great on 58's and 57's!

Which mic in the line up was your favorite?
This is by far the best microphone review I've ever seen...Well done gentlemen. Thank you.
Wow, thank you! We are glad you liked it. There is more on the way as well.
The Blue Bottle sounds incredible.
It really does ! I was quite impressed.
I agree all tho the mic looks Ridiculous it sounds Crystal clear lol
For the application the cactus was the best sounding mic ... granted they are all badass
I'm glad you liked it. I think it is great that everyone has their own preference of mic.
Beautiful voice and outstanding guitar playing. I almost fell asleep listening. It's just so soothing to my ears. 😌
Probably gonna cop the mouse in the near future and the bottle when I hit the lotto.
Somehow this comment escaped me. Thank you for the compliment! If I could only have one, it would definitely be the mouse!

Great video. Really liked that you put the post processed versions in too.
Thank you! I think it's important to show the raw sound as well as what it can potentially sound like.

I was surprised by how good the mouse sounded. I think it is the best value for sure.
The Bottle is just the best microphone ever, does anything compare to how clean it sounds? 👽🤘
I do like the mouse as well. Very good mics!

Thank you so much! We tried to show the mics at their best.

Very good analysis.
Excellent shootout!

great video thank you for making it
Thank you! We enjoyed making it! I hope it helps you out.
Dude the transport pins are still in the mic! Hope that didn't damage the mic....
2:14 SM7B
3:55 Blue Bottle
Catus and bottle both sound the same to me and the mouse is just only a tiny little bit different
There is a pretty huge difference to my ears.
They all sound great. To me, the Cactus was noticeably crisper.
I lean towards the mouse, but everyone has their preference.
Combined definitely blue mouse on guitar and blue bottle on vocals would be a great combo.
Completely agree. I thought the mouse did a pretty good job across the board.
Why was the Cactus set to “Omni” mode and not cardioid?
Would of liked to hear a u87 compared to these blue mic’s
Unfortunately, I do not have a U87, but if you send one to me I'd be happy to make the video!
The Cactus has a buzz sound in it
Use U 87ai as reference microphone. SM 7B is dynamic microphone.

Blue Bottle (B6) - TOP 1!!!
Love the bottle!
Really nice shootout.
Thank you! Did you have a favorite?

Any way we can hear the finished product? This song is catchy
We are working on it! We really want to put out some more originals soon. Stay tuned!
YO THIS MAN CAN DO IT, XXL PUT HIM ON ON FRESHMAN LIST
Is it just me that prefers the blue mouse on vocals? 🤔 also I could have bought one for £500 a while ago now I regret not doing!
The mouse was my overall favorite. Especially considering the cost.
Thanks for this video. Can you tell me which mic stand you used for the Blue Bottle? I’m having a hard time finding something that can support such a large mic.
I'm not sure what kind of stand it was. You can reach out to Eric at the Noize Faktory, he would know. thenoizfaktory@gmail.com
Cactus sounded great ....
TFTGear in your opinion to due your hear a big step up in sound between the mouse and the bottle?
I do hear a pretty big difference. Whether you think it's worth the difference in price is up to you. The nice thing about the bottle is the interchangeable capsules. It can be an entire mic locker in one. The rest of the capsules sound great as well.
TFTGear Yea I’ve had most of their Mics but never the big bottle or mouse so I thinking of giving it a try
@@MinisterTravis I love the bottle on vocals. Definitely worth auditioning.
just bought a bottle! @@mattingramsound
@@MinisterTravis Awesome! Which capsule/s did you get? Be sure to let me know what you think.
I think the Mouse is having a very soft bass, and the Cactus is having a very warm sound, i think it's sounding better on guitar.
That's the great thing about these mics - everyone has their own preferences, but they all sound good.
@@mattingramsoundAnd i also wanted to ask, what is the name of the song?
@@step_losev That is a song by @thefollowthrough called "Satellite". It is not released yet, but hopefully will be by the end of the year.
@@mattingramsound can you please give a link to their channel?
@@step_losev Sure thing. www.youtube.com/@TheFollowthrough
why does the mouse mouse sound just as good as the bottle?
I did like the bottle more on vocals, but the mouse sounded great.
The bottle is fucking amazing
Yes it is!
Good Vid
Thank you!
Classic 👌
Thank you!
The Mouse is my favorite Blue mic I think, though I will admit Dragonfly and Woodpecker are quite good.
Never used the woodpecker. I did really like the mouse though.
TFTGear Woodpecker is an active ribbon. One of the few ribbons to require phantom power as it takes advantage of certain high-end sparkle most ribbons don't have. Most ribbons are passive anyway.
Can i share this vidéo and you're channel in pinterest?
Sure! As long as you share the embedded video, and do not rip it and host it yourself. Thank you for your support! I really appreciate it!
how could i change if i want to record pop vocal ,U87 or blue mouse?
The Blue Mouse is a very good option, and much less expensive than the U87. The U87 is a classic though, and remains one of the most popular mics to date for a reason. It really comes down to budget.
Kiwi
You can find an amazing clones of Neumann U87 or U47 which sound even better than originals for half of price (check Stam SA-47)
Something about his voice reminds me of Steve Perry.
Thank you. I think.
TFTGear It was definitely a compliment.
Where can I find the song the singer singing? (oops)
We are actually recording it right now and plan on releasing it in the next few months.
@@mattingramsound nice! hopefully you will drop it on the Followthrough channel
Trust me that will be the first place we put it!
@@mattingramsound Did it ever get released?

The blue bottle mic is my dream microphone but im from south america :(
