This is never getting old. It's still the first thing I watch as soon as the computer boots up each day. Don't let the negative comments of a few who don't want to be educated or amazed stop you. You're doing something wonderful.
I got major goosebumps at the picture of the Earth and moon, and the vast expansion in the background. It is very powerful and humbling to see how much space lies between all of the planets and stars once you get up close.
This is so awesome just on a little computer monitor, that honestly, I'd buy it as a DVD to watch on my home theatre. I seriously have never seen anything this wonderful, no joke.
Jeeze goose bumps all over. I *WILL* go see this in the IMAX, and take along my 7 year-old daughter. We both almost had spontaneous brain explosions when seeing the Hubble IMAX movie. I expect Saturn's Rings to be even more mind-blowing.
The bottom line for those criticizing the "authenticity" or technique used here is that this film displays exactly how it would appear if you were flying through space looking out a window. I cannot wait to see this and I bow to the person who took the care to create this.
Absolutely inspired! Your patience with producing this film is only outdone by your patience with the youtube commenters. The use of real photos gives the film a sense of precision and authenticity that is vacant in the usual space vfx used. Thank you for your hard work! I cannot wait to watch this on IMAX!
It's like that new UHD-TV Ultra High Definition TV with over 2000 lines of resolution clarity. What's neat is one feels like you are actually there hovering over real time Saturn.
Most little girls went horse crazy. I went space crazy, and I've stayed that way ever since. I just watched the trailer in absolute awe. The universe is amazing and seeing it like this is going to be one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
Yes. We will have a full-dome version available a few months after the giant screen version. Contact them and request the film. You can find a list at loch ness productions website under "reference". I see 11 theaters listed.
The clips are very short, and the cuts between them so sharp it almost hurts. But the images are fantastic, and I expect that the final product will be far more polished than a teaser, so I am incredibly psyched about this!
The Sombrero galaxy and Iapetus are stunning. A much needed and worthy successor to Carl Sagan in the role of space exploration communication and advocacy.
This is amazing. I remember when I first saw some of these photos a couple years ago and I was blown away. A couple questions though: 0:54 - Photos? With no post processing? Are you sure? 1:19 - " " 1:27 - " " 1:59 - " "
This looks absolutely beautiful. But you do have me scratching my head over the marketing of it as using no CG, when these amazing photo mosaics are obviously brought to life using CG camera animation. That aside, keep up the great work and I can't wait to see this when it's all finished!
It'd be awesome if you would also post the how-to footage on the channel, once the film has been released. Really beautiful work, most of the trailer, if not all of it, felt fully of energy and movement. It did not feel static in any way, shape, or form.
Great job. But please bare in mind that the Earth images are not real photographs, but 3D renderings. See for example at 2:07, it's this 3D rendering from spacetelescope org slash extras slash print_posters slash hst_print_poster_0012
I've always been inspired by photographs of Saturn, this is gonna be a real treat, can't wait! I do agree however (as a graphic designer) that this movie deserves a more subtle typographical aproach. Images speak for themselves I think, no need for 'in your face' typography. Maybe no caps, and a nice light sans serif font? Anyway, just a suggestion. Keep up the good work!
The highlight you're seeing is the natural reflectivity of the surface of the earth. The sun is shining on a round reflective object, so you see a highlight.
It looks astonishing! A great lesson of how to turn far big planet lost somewhere deep in cold space into emotional and a warm movie. Keep on the good job. P.S : I guess it's too late but it would very (sorry for my english) adapted (?) if mister M. FREEMAN had been choosen to share his voice to comment your documentary. Best regard from France.
It's very beautiful. I'm going to watch it the first chance I get. But... The author needs to read up on what CGI and editing are. This was most assuredly altered, though it clearly preserves authenticity. I enjoyed it.
I have no doubt you are doing an amazing job! I loved the teaser, and I can't wait to see the final, there aren't many ultra high quality images/videos of this out there, it's incredibly beautiful, BUT I would never in a lifetime call this "Real without VFX". It gives a false impression that humanity is more advanced than we actually are. These might just be my interpretations of "effects" and "real", but you can't possibly have recreated exact locations and colors 100.0% accurately - ../
Sure. I get that. It does look good and and everything but the history to have these images for such a creation is the awe-inspiring, jaw dropping, moment of pause they give you. I can not say much as to computer enhancement of a source and CPU created graphics as I don't know of the process (at the moment, I will be giving a few hours of reading to this when I have them, for kicks), Let's hope they bring out 'The making of' or some such.
Teaser reminds me of Star Wars especially the part where it says Take the journey (after it should of said In a Galaxy far far away... but it is just for Saturn's Rings).
If that was truly the case, I'd like to see some scripts for an orbital simulator that reproduce the relative motion of bodies in the fly-throughs that you show. Absent that, you have no standing to claim that it's anywhere near to be "as close as possible how it would appear flying through space". For it to be true, you really need something that models how things are in space pretty closely, and then use that as your body motion rig. Camera motion is then of your choosing, of course.
I'd love the link for the 4K mp4 download. we have a 4K TV at my college and I'd love to show this to my students. My laptop is more than capable. Thanks again
Take it as a compliment. Space is so unbelievably, unimaginable that it's almost impossible to comprehend it's beauty.
This is never getting old. It's still the first thing I watch as soon as the computer boots up each day.
Don't let the negative comments of a few who don't want to be educated or amazed stop you. You're doing something wonderful.

That clarity..it's breathtaking
I can't wait. It will be the best nap i've ever taken during a movie.
This is the only film I want to see in 2014. Nothing else comes close, already! Thank you so very, very much!
Amazing work! A project like this has to take an insane amount of patience and dedication. For that, I applaud you. Love the music too :)
This is so awesome just on a little computer monitor, that honestly, I'd buy it as a DVD to watch on my home theatre. I seriously have never seen anything this wonderful, no joke.

my gfx card can only give me ~10 fps when i play this video at 4k! Absolutely incredible, i hope this film makes millions

this is so damn beautiful. who else can't wait for man to get out there in person?
The music is absolutely brilliant.
Sent here from Mentorless Podcast, so inspiring!
Amazingly beautiful! Saturn is my favorite planet and your wonderful work really does it justice. Almost like being there! :)
It's like that new UHD-TV Ultra High Definition TV with over 2000 lines of resolution clarity. What's neat is one feels like you are actually there hovering over real time Saturn.
Our universe is marvelous and completely beautiful
Most little girls went horse crazy. I went space crazy, and I've stayed that way ever since.
I just watched the trailer in absolute awe. The universe is amazing and seeing it like this is going to be one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
It's hard to believe this is actually real for whatever reason.
Pretty awesome.
Finally, a "tent-pole" movie for space enthusiasts.
Just got to hang on for another year.
Amazing and breathtaking. Just posted this on my blog and across my social media platforms. WOW!!!
Those pictures are GORGEOUS! Can't wait to see the full length movie! :)
This looks brilliant. I will certainly be viewing the finished film when it comes out. Good stuff!
This is amazing and I'm really looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. Congratulations on an excellent piece of film-making.

Really beautiful job! I enjoyed every second of it. Can't wait for the entire movie.
Congrats to Stephen and his team. Great job!
Wow. I really like what you have so far! Can't wait for the whole movie.
This film its amazing and can't wait to watch it an IMAX.
Saw the first minute last year at Astronomy Days in Raleigh.. was amazing!
The clips are very short, and the cuts between them so sharp it almost hurts. But the images are fantastic, and I expect that the final product will be far more polished than a teaser, so I am incredibly psyched about this!
Awesome! I can't believe this resolution.

This is a "Get High" kinda movie. Hell yes.
I can't believe it! It should be in every theather!
Great work... and a lot of patience. Now waiting for the full thing :)
I will defiantly be seeing this in IMAX
Excellent, exacting work, and very valuable as a tool for raising the profile of the vast Deep Space photography library.

Doesn't matter, it'll still be awesome.

Great idea surprised it hasn't been done before. Pretty cool!

I am so ready for 4K....
Can't wait to see the whole thing
This is absolutely incredible, I am so impressed with this project and cant wait to get to see the feature movie. Where can I find out more?
I've always been inspired by photographs of Saturn, this is gonna be a real treat, can't wait!

The music is amazing also. Was specifically made for this trailer?
wow, that looks amazing @ 1080p imagine 4K ................. i can't ..... mmmmm will have to wait till 2014
The highlight you're seeing is the natural reflectivity of the surface of the earth. The sun is shining on a round reflective object, so you see a highlight.
stock music from Nuemann Films - doing a Kickstarter soon for music rights for the film.
Awesome! Looks pretty amazing, good work!
I wonder how many others have a deep yearning to explore space first hand.
It seems to me a pretty good job!
If someone ask me what book should be readed, by all person in the world, I say without a doubt: Cosmos.
Breathtaking
Yes, the music is powerful!
I'm forming a queue for the London IMAX now.
I cannot believe it, although I know it ... the real thing is 1 billion times more awesome than any CGI!!
Google it or check the link in the video description. It's very well explained there.
Awesome! All the best for your Kickstarter project! Very timely movie in view of budget cuts for NASA planetary explorations.
No to... czekamy! Razem z Kubrickiem i Saganem!
It looks astonishing! A great lesson of how to turn far big planet lost somewhere deep in cold space into emotional and a warm movie.

Stop yelling. Just enjoy the beauty!
The music for this trailer is quite emotionally moving. Is it something that was written for the project?
Really cool! Would definitely see!
Awesome view of Enceladus at the end. :-)

Wow, amazing. Looking forward to it :)
I talked with a member of the filmmaker's family today. It's now due in May 2018. It's been said that movies are never finished, they just escape.

wow good eye, it definitely does appear to be that way
Please please please offer a 4K digital download for this when its released to the public!
gorgeous.
YES PLEASE!
Just to opposite. To know that that all came about due to 4 simple to understand forces interacting in known ways is amazing! No magic needed.
Will there be a soundtrack release? It's absolutely beautiful.

I'd love the link for the 4K mp4 download. we have a 4K TV at my college and I'd love to show this to my students. My laptop is more than capable. Thanks again
