    I still have my original from 50 years ago, due for a much needed restoration. Thank you for the tips! Just one small thing, it's based on Lon Chaney. The reissue has been done with permission of his estate.

    One of the best color schemes I’ve seen on this kit - excellent!

    Hey Francis. I know you did this ages ago but I’ve just purchased the Monogram Luminators version of this great kit from America! As you probably know it comes in a horrible neon pink plastic that you can back light and give a sickly glow to. Well not me. I’ve took some of your ideas and tips on board and painted it. Now you can’t tell it’s a Monogram and would swear it’s an Aurora original 😉 Keep those great vids coming my friend.

    I just refurbished my Polar Lights Aurora Mummy Kit as well. I used a base coat of dark grey over the heiroglyphs on the brazier and the rocks, and dry brushed it with "Bleached Sand" and it made the glyphs stand out beautifully while making the rocks look realistic.
    For old Mr. Bandages himself, I base coated him with a dark grey, and smattered it with dark drown, and then dry brushed the bandages with "Linen" (as bandages back then would have been linen, or so they say). The face\hands were a base coat of "Dark Tan" and dry brushed "Mushroom" over it.
    While not as nice as this one, it definitely stands out and is a HUGE improvement over what it was 20-some years ago. Actually it looks like it does on the box and that says a lot!

    After painting the mummy base coat with dark brown, did you dry brush lighter brown, then dry brush the lighter grey?

    GREAT! What do you mean by "rub off the excess" after you apply a wash. Do you do it immediately after you do the wash? =)

      @JokerLaugh  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, just apply the wash and make sure it gets into all the nooks and crannies and then take a towel or kitchen roll etc and gently dab or wipe away the surface wash only leaving the wash in the nooks and crannies to add a layer of depth.

    Is it really rare caus I have one

    • @JokerLaugh
      @JokerLaugh  4 роки тому

      It's quite rare if its made by the original producer Aurora. If it is one of the later re-issues made by another company then not so rare.

    WHEN I WAS TEN YEARS OLD I WOKE UP AND THIS MODEL WAS NEXT TO MY BED, MY ELDEST BROTHER MADE IT AND LEFT IT THERE (HE IS 20 YEARS OLDER THAN ME AND WE HAVE NEVER LIVED IN THE SAME HOUSE AND HATES ME) NEXT WEEK HIS FRIEND THREW BOILING TAR OVER MY BARE LEGS AND I SPENT THE NEXT SIX MONTHS IN BANDAGES, JUST ONE OF THE MANY ACCIDENTS, BEATINGS, ARRESTS AND TORTURES HE HAS ARRANGED FOR ME SINCE I WAS BORN. ON A FOOT NOTE HE USED TO TURN IN TO THE FRANKENSTIEN MODEL IN MY CHILDHOOD NIGHTMARES . . .
