Seeing as you have first hand experience, I'd appreciate an elaboration on what they got wrong. (And, if applicable, what they got right.) I remember early in the war they made a playing deck of terrorist targets and they were relatively popular. I think the goal was to make it easier to identify targets b/c If you're out in the desert and all you can do when waiting around is play cards, you might as well be memorizing faces at the same time.
came in the comments to say this. The deck was literally THE top list of "America's Most Wanted". Saddam Hussein was the Ace of Spades (literally enemy #1) until his capture in 2003, after which Osama Bin Laden took the Ace of Spades spot in newer decks. For those who don't play this game multiple times or with 2 players, usually when another character seems to space out for a second is usually for the other character's decision. Rachel's moments in the beginning too with Eric that Sean was laughing at were those type of moments where Rachel was "making a decision"
am i the only one who wishes they would use the original version of the “Oh Death” intro song, the one in Until Dawn? it’s sung by a mournful female voice with a more folksy, country-esqe backing and arrangement. the harmonies, instrumental twangs, and the way she holds the notes give it the eeriness that i think feels so similar to the base feeling of uneasiness that you get with these more historically-based (or myth-based) supernatural tales. it invokes the truth and power of a spoken word tradition, passed down through generations in song and myth, both a story and a warning. like, as a character in the game and therefore a person experiencing a piece of that tradition, the haunting folk ballad sends a shiver that reminds you of the deep truth: that this tale or curse or sequence of events will exist not just in the present, but before and after you, outside of any amount of will or grit or intelligence you may muster. you can influence your personal survival, and may do so for some of your companions, but not much else. because these things were set in motion long before your consciousness was even thought to be formed. TLDR; the male rock version from the rest of the games does feel badass and totally rips, but it doesn’t give me the same vibe as the original, which seemed like it had a depth of history to it and created an authentic atmospheric tension.
Was about to say the original song is in Supernatural I believe 😂 but I love all the versions. I like the instrumentals of this one more than the Until Dawn one, but I like the woman’s voice in the Until Dawn one more

I think the problems with the previous 2 games come down to the fact that the developers REALLY want to try and place a horror game in a world that is more bound by the laws of reality, and thus the "dangers" and monsters have been lack luster because they are grounded in real situations. I really hope they throw that almost... obsession with reality out the window, and go back to the fringe supernatural fantasy that made until dawn so freaking good. It would go a long way toward redeeming the series and making it worth playing. Edit: that being said, this is really cool so far and I am cautiously excited 😊

Its my favorite tradition and in my opinion one of the most beautiful, it makes me so proud to be mexican 🇲🇽🎉🇲🇽🎉🇲🇽
We have a day where we honour the dead too in Italy. Children receive gifts "from" the people who have passed away, like an aunt, or a great grandparent or sth. It's a good way to make sure people aren't forgotten and who doesn't love gifts. Also the gifts are usually something "small" like chocolate. When my mom was a child it was figurines/dolls made of sugar!
Pretty much equivalent to a later episode’s: “Don’t worry Salim, they’re not going to hurt you” *the marines proceed to surround Salim with machine guns and Nick makes no attempt at all to explain that Salim isn’t hostile*
Jack *in reference to a BA in mythology*: is that a thing you can actually go study? Yes, I’m going into archaeology with a focus on world mythologies.
So cool! Not sure if it's a silly question but what kind of skills would you say you need to get into archaelogy? Is it like a soft science? Or is there a side to it that's heavily science/evidence based too? Or maybe similar to learning history?
44:21 btw if anyone didn’t know this, the reason he has saddam on his playing cards is because soldiers are given playing cards known as “vehicle recognition cards” or “aircraft recognition cards” that were made with friendly and unfriendly vehicles on them, so when soldiers were playing cards in bunkers or trenches or wherever else, they would be subconsciously ingrained with what vehicles/aircraft to shoot at, and which ones were friendly. The ones he specifically had are Iraqi “most wanted” playing cards, that way when you play, you see their faces all the time, and would be more likely to spot them out in public or spot them among a group of people.

Right. It's odd
Same with their eyes being dead all the time. Like they rarely match their expression to the tone of their voice.
For those who don't play this game multiple times or with 2 players, usually when another character seems to space out for a second is usually for the other character's decision. Rachel's moments in the beginning too with Eric that Sean was laughing at were those type of moments where Rachel was "making a decision"
Ah, gotcha! Thanks for clarifying xD I was really confused ny the odd pauses
am i the only one who wishes they would use the original version of the “Oh Death” intro song, the one in Until Dawn? it’s sung by a mournful female voice with a more folksy, country-esqe backing and arrangement. the harmonies, instrumental twangs, and the way she holds the notes give it the eeriness that i think feels so similar to the base feeling of uneasiness that you get with these more historically-based (or myth-based) supernatural tales.
it invokes the truth and power of a spoken word tradition, passed down through generations in song and myth, both a story and a warning. like, as a character in the game and therefore a person experiencing a piece of that tradition, the haunting folk ballad sends a shiver that reminds you of the deep truth: that this tale or curse or sequence of events will exist not just in the present, but before and after you, outside of any amount of will or grit or intelligence you may muster. you can influence your personal survival, and may do so for some of your companions, but not much else. because these things were set in motion long before your consciousness was even thought to be formed.
TLDR; the male rock version from the rest of the games does feel badass and totally rips, but it doesn’t give me the same vibe as the original, which seemed like it had a depth of history to it and created an authentic atmospheric tension.
I wish they'd use the actual original, Lloyd Chandler's Dialogue with Death
now why the hell did you go all out for this comment LMAOO.
Even spookier is when the song is sung by an old blind lady in a rocking chair
Not really I prefer the metal version for this. Makes the intro cinematic way cooler

@@treasurecollins759 I mean it seemed like sean didnt know🤔 its okay!
I swear to fucking god if this one also ends with all just being in their heads…
I was literally thinking how are they going to screw the ending up this time? It was all a dream?
Man of Medans made sense, Little Hope was...what? The main character trying to redeem his dead families souls?
@@ironikz4006 I think he was trying to deal with the grief and trauma of his family’s deaths.
Ikr
I pray that they took the Until Dawn route and make it completely real beings that stem from with actual demons.
20:45 THE WAY ME AND JACK HAD THE SAME REACTION LMAO 'Ashley Tisdale??"
Balathu: "We help each other"
**sheaths weapon then extends arm to Kurum with weapon still in hand**
Pretty much equivalent to a later episode’s:
“Don’t worry Salim, they’re not going to hurt you”
*the marines proceed to surround Salim with machine guns and Nick makes no attempt at all to explain that Salim isn’t hostile*
Jack *in reference to a BA in mythology*: is that a thing you can actually go study?
Yes, I’m going into archaeology with a focus on world mythologies.
Nice, I always mythology interesting, hope ur studies go well
So cool! Not sure if it's a silly question but what kind of skills would you say you need to get into archaelogy? Is it like a soft science? Or is there a side to it that's heavily science/evidence based too? Or maybe similar to learning history?
Ayy, I'm doing Classical Studies in uni next year. Good luck in your studies!!!
Jack: doesn’t want air support and doesn’t take white phosphorus
Me: jack will regret that later
One would think he wants that stuff knowing he is going to fight monsters but mayby im just not as big brain as Jack.... :D
I appreciate he’s still willing to try this one even if he didn’t enjoy the others
