Unfortunately we hear many men who are extremely abusive and many people know of people who are controlling, aggressive or even abusive to their partner. As a man, I have known many women having to put up with horrible men. It is sad that a lot of men are unable to self reflect, a little introspection goes a long way. I have seen comments on this video and other places that people say things like “why do you let men control you, just leave”. How about we automatically question the abuser behaviour “Why do you treat people this way, why can’t you be kind”. Victim blaming is shameful.

Ladies.....and gentlemen, for that matter. If another person starts treating you like this, one week in, one month in, one year in the relationship, get up and go. Never let anyone grind you down enough that you accept this as normal. These people don't love nor do they care for anyone. There is always someone better for you out there, and even being alone is endlessly better than this. Take advantage of every support available, remember that you don't deserve this kind of treatment and send them to hell. It's endlessly sad to see how Lisa started and how she ended up through this relationship, and we must all learn to recognize and protect ourselves from these individuals. Never think that it can't happen to you. We don't choose to meet these people, but we don't have to let them have their way. Thanks for presenting this case so diligently once again Disturban 👍
I don't understand why this even needs to be said. I don't get the psychology of women who get into relationships with these men and stay with them for so long. From the recording of Lisa, it sounded like she was extremely needy and had fear of abandonment and needed someone to be with her at all times, which is itself problematic, and basically means she either needed a protector or round the clock care. I guess it's very easy for a controlling psychopath to provide what such a woman needs.
@@ritakennedy3138 I'm guessing you think that's a checkmate that can never be said, but I'm just gonna say "yes". Have a brain and be responsible for your actions. The question needs to be asked is why was Simon even in a position to harm someone else after his previous convictions he should already have been in prison before he murdered her
yeah...that bothers me too....I don't believe in the death penalty, but prison sentences are too lenient, he should be locked up for life until and unless his innocence is proven...he threw his girlfriend off a building, he's clearly a danger to society.
As a woman who grew up with an unhealthily controlling mother for over two decades, I have a deeply ingrained fear/hatred of being controlled. She told me what I could and could not wear, who I could and could not hang out with, where I could and could not go, what I could and could not believe in, etc. I couldn’t leave because I had to financially depend on her in order to survive for many years because it’s very difficult to afford a place to live where I’m from. If I got into a relationship with ANY man who tried to control what I did and how I lived my life, that man would not survive for very long because the flashbacks would drive me to insanity. Being alone has never been more freeing and it is much better than living with someone who is manipulative and controlling. This poor woman did not deserve what happened to her. Honestly if I was in her position, that man would be the one murdered. RIP Lisa 💔

What the hell was with that disgusting comparison the judge made to Lindy Chamberlain? The Chamberlain case was one of the most horrendous miscarriages of justice in Australian history. Lindy was innocent. Her convictions were quashed in 1988, and in 2012, a FOURTH coroner's inquest found that Azaria died "as a result of being attacked and taken by a dingo". The heartless judgement of her demeanour was one of the most despicable crimes the media has even been a party to, and helped send an innocent woman & grieving mother to prison. What an absolute disgrace.
This bothered me also, so I actually went and read Justice Lucy McCallum's verdict in full and I believe that her words were actually taken out of context about Lindy, she was actually acknowledging that the assumptions of Lindy were unjustified and she did not want to make a false judgement of the accused (Simon) in the same way. It seems to me that Lucy was pointing out the need to show a level of cautiousness to those who might not exhibit the “correct” signs of grief or behaviours, this is when she referenced Lindy. She goes on to say that bearing this in mind, she was unable to put her inklings aside completely when listening to Simon and that she felt he was playing a role or acting the part. This is the excerpt in full, I think it’s important to read the whole paragraph: 291 It is difficult to articulate my impression of that evidence except to say that I found it unconvincing. To an extent, I am referring to the demeanour of the accused in the witness box. Mr Strickland reminded me of the need for caution in placing reliance on an accused person's demeanour, citing possibly the most famous example in the history of Australian criminal justice, Lindy Chamberlain, whose demeanour in the witness box was regarded as being inconsistent with that which the community expects of a grieving mother. That is a cautionary tale, but I do not think I should put aside my impressions of the accused altogether. At many times in his evidence, the accused struck me as a person playing a role, telling a story which fitted neatly with the objective evidence but which did no more than that. His account often appeared to rest on borrowed detail, lacking the richness and subtlety of actual experience.

So, he killed his girlfriend and was arrested. During his trial he had a new girlfriend, who along with her parents, gave him thousands of dollars for his defense. When found guilty, the new girlfriend was devastated because she knows her and her parents will never see their money again. That's rough.

Although I don't agree that his height made him like this, it might of been a reason he wanted to keep her weight at a minimum, so that one day he could more easily overpower her. Just a wild guess.
One thing we can notice from these kinds of relationships is that the one who is being manipulated loses his/her smile. In the photos of them before the relationship, they'll be smiling widely, and we can see that they are happy. But after the relationship and manipulation, we can see that they lose that smile and even when their partner is smiling widely and happily, they just have a small smile on their faces. It's really sad and telling.
I was unlucky enough to be ten feet from a woman who was pushed from a 6 floor window. She fell on the sidewalk where I was walking. I walked to her and what I witnessed I will never forget. Her bf was arrested immediately and when he was released later that day, her brothers were waiting and he was st@bbed to death. I believe her name was Vera. This was in Vancouver BC years ago.
Ladies, never let a man tell you what to wear and who you can socialize with. That is controlling. If he does not think you can dress yourself or choose your own friends, then why would he want to be with you anyway? What he wants is someone to control, and that is not love, respect, or a partnership of two equals. It is a sick demented person controlling another person, who should have better sense than to let that happen.
As an Aussie these stories are very frequent here. The amount of murders against women and men due to domestic violence, is climbing. In a relationship nobody owns you. You are still an individual, nobody has the right to tell you what to wear, who can be a friend or even spy on you. His sentebce was far too lenient.
The same is true in the US. Murder rates overall are declining as they have been for a couple decades at this point, but DV homocide rates have been increasing at an alarming rate.
DV will get you one way or another if you don’t leave (which I know is extremely difficult). My sister was unable to leave her husband. She didn’t take care of herself and that, combined with the insurmountable stress, ultimately destroyed her health. We lost her when she was 43.

To Lisa's loved ones if you're watching this I am so sorry for your loss. ❤❤❤ Excellent coverage of Lisa's story. I'll never understand why men find women that they are so beautiful and have such a light about them and then they try to diminish and erase all of it. Where are all these insecure men coming from ? Here's a little hint you WANT a good partner then BE a good partner.
It’s pure narcissism. People like this are soo insecure, the men feel superior to women and if they’re miserable from inside, the sinister joy of breaking a beautiful, confident and successful woman is like a addiction. No fun in breaking someone that holds no value right? That’s how they think.
It's so sad that she didn't have enough self worth or self esteem to understand that being treated like she was is absolutely unacceptable.. This beautiful woman could still be here.. Thank you so much to Josh and that neighbor, I hope she feels guilty every single day!
I was with a guy like this once. Thank you to my neighbors at the time who heard me squeak out "help" and called the cops. They saved me from being strangled to death that night. I am sorry for Lisa and her family that her neighbors were not willing to make that call.
The only thing I’ll give credence to is that she was still new to the area, so it’s be difficult for her to get out on her own, and the guy was unstable, so she’s be in fear of him stalking as well. I do think she should have booked a ticket out ASAP when her family started telling her to leave though, but hindsight is 20/20
Thank you for covering this in the detail it deserves. By any luck, maybe, people in situations like this can see this case, read these comments, and second guess staying. She was so close to safety. Please understand these relationships are not normal. They are not loving. They do not have happy endings. She was crying saying she believed she had no one else, and nothing else if not him. Because he told her that. He broke her down until she believed that. She had her family, she had her whole life to make friends, she had her whole life to meet someone who actually loved her instead of who loved possessing her.
As a Canadian woman, I've been in some pretty abusive relationships due to being too nice. Funny how people will rather abuse kindness instead of being grateful to have a nice girlfriend 😢

This is the excerpt in full, I think it’s important to read the whole paragraph:
291 It is difficult to articulate my impression of that evidence except to say that I found it unconvincing.

0:01 keep it noice and short, I like that
As an Aussie these stories are very frequent here.
It is common here. I speak from experience. Just swap the Canadian passport for a British one, and a horrific ending with a successful escape.
DV will get you one way or another if you don’t leave (which I know is extremely difficult). My sister was unable to leave her husband. She didn’t take care of herself and that, combined with the insurmountable stress, ultimately destroyed her health. We lost her when she was 43.

Ladies, explain this to me. Why would ANY woman start dating a guy who's been charged (with evidence and eye witness) with killing his previous girlfriend? Who in their right freaking mind wants a guy like that?
I agree. Women always give these men the benefit of the doubt. Once an abuser always an abuser. You don't deserve a relationship.
I dated a serial cheater for 5 years, and he told every girl I was just a crazy ex (we lived together 🤦🏻♀️). After him, when any guy said his ex was crazy, I was like and there’s my 🚩.
As long as the guy’s attractive, that’s all that matters. Psychological manipulation, physical abuse, dark past? Blah, blah, blah. There are more important things, like money & a chiseled jawline. Duh.
I hope you guys realize most women are not like that. Usually women who like "bad boys" have some sort of deep childhood trauma. Its not normal.
My ex best friend was in love with a guy who never saw his two children and was imprisoned for bashing an ex girlfriends child. Had a baby with him and surprise! He has nothing to do with her or the kid.
the way he talks to her like she’s a toddler makes my skin crawl.
Theres a website professing this dudes innocence and saying hes wrongfully convicted. Filthy animals have no remorse.
Loved seeing the pic of you and Adrian hanging out !!

My gf is 5’4” and about 50kg.
Lisa looks to be much taller than my partner. I can’t imagine how being 50kg would be healthy for a taller female. 🤦♂️

110 still seems light for 5'4 no?@@Aaron_Hanson
@@Aaron_HansonI would say that 50kg is a little light for 5’4, but it puts emphasis on her terrible health
@@curmudgeon8 I actually just Googled it because of your comment. The actual ideal weight for a female at 5’4” is between 49-59.9kg. So literally she is on the line of being “underweight”. I don’t care if she was to weigh 80kgs but I would be concerned about her health if she was to gain that much weight when she has been the same weight since she was an early adult.

18 to 26 years? That is unbelievable! Simon is a predator, a manipulator and a murderer. Again, I think that a slave labor death gulag is the place for someone like him.
Why is it that the neighbors did absolutely nothing? She was crying out for help. If she had been my friend, I would have asked the police to do a welfare check at the very least.
That she was so close to getting away alive is really tragic. What is more tragic is the sentence Simon received.
I have no doubt that the seriously broken Australian Criminal Justice System will let him out to kill again.
Why would any woman be OK with a man telling her what she can wear. This is just juvenile and disgusting. If a guy hasn't advanced past that insecure stage by the time he is 16 run away. It's those guys that kill women that try to break up with them.
Thats all men honey. Their are only honest men and dishonest ones. P.S., if your man lets you walk out the house with a bikini, that isnt love, thats indifference. But what would a feminist know?
@@IconoclastX bro. You need help. What you're saying isn't normal. Regular guys don't care what their girl wants to wear. We are comfortable enough with ourselves that we don't feel the need to control someone else for validation.
@@678rwhp no, you need help. You had all your protective instinct deprogrammed out of you by society. Im normal, you're not; just look to history.
@IconoclastX total projection. The real facts are violent crime rates have been setting all time low records for decades. YOU'RE programmed to be afraid. Everything you see tells you it's dangerous. While nothing is 100% safe you are currently living in the safest period the US has had.
@@IconoclastX The "protective instinct" you say is programmed into you is making you come across as a massive virgin. The kind of incel that would shoot up a nursery. That's what history points to - that people who say things like you online do weird fucked up shit and don't generally attract a woman to be mysognistic about. Enjoy not telling a woman what to wear.
How very sad. Her smile was brilliant and joyous.. .
So happy you show your face now and I was not disappointed cuz your voice really does fit your face. I love your work! Thanks 🙏👍👍🦝🦝
His voice sounds so manipulative! A true narcissist!
The minute I hear "Australia" in a true crime video, I automatically know the sentence will be more appalling than the crime. Cruel and unusual
As a survivor from severe DV this makes me so determined to make sure to always be alert to anyone suffering this. The neighbour doing nothing is so common and people need to be more aware of how common this horrible behaviour is. RIP Lisa ❤
thank goodness for the man who went out of his way to go to the police station after they failed to return his calls!!! many people may have just given up,and i think without his evidence, the outcome could have been very different. mind boggles how that woman gave him $100k for his defense!!! foolish action. DV is such a big problem in Australia its shocking how lenient the sentences are, 18 years is NOT enough
He should have gotten life in prison!
She probably was alive when he throwed her from the balcony, poor woman! As for that new girlfriend,by the looks of her I think he payed her only for his defence, she only played a girlfriend for the money!
The neighbors could saved her , but they didnt, instead they closed the door!
Imagine having a neighbour like that, horrific!
The only good person is the man who saw that incident and reported to the police!

Definitely something off about Rachel Louise. She was attracted to the drama. What normal person would start dating someone accused of murder and then introduce him to her parents so that they give him loads of money. Women like that are crazy.

To Lisa's loved ones if you're watching this I am so sorry for your loss. ❤❤❤
Excellent coverage of Lisa's story.
That’s what they do to you mentally and emotionally and physically. It is absolutely insane that people like this exist out here!!!! Not right at all
I was with a guy like this once. Thank you to my neighbors at the time who heard me squeak out "help" and called the cops. They saved me from being strangled to death that night. I am sorry for Lisa and her family that her neighbors were not willing to make that call.
the way shes crying and begging to see her mom while hes laughing and saying how much he loves her is absolutely terrifying
Your intro makes me think of "Collect call from: HiBobWeHadABabyItsABoy, do you wish to accept?" 😂🤣
Oh wait that might just be a U.S. thing lol Still a funny commercial if it's out there though.
So many red flags she thought it was a carnival.
The only thing I’ll give credence to is that she was still new to the area, so it’s be difficult for her to get out on her own, and the guy was unstable, so she’s be in fear of him stalking as well.
I do think she should have booked a ticket out ASAP when her family started telling her to leave though, but hindsight is 20/20
I’m from Sydney and remember this case well… truly tragic💔 that beautiful girl… how horrendous 💔
It's crazy how he found time through all this to get a new girlfriend. Who dates a guy while going through a murder investigation of his previous partner?
The Neighbor was completely and utterly useless.
And still alive.
