Great review! Just received some really light roast beans that was hard to dial in on Dual Boiler. That bean was better as a pour over, but my pour over game is weak. This would be good for me...

As someone who received a Gina from the original Kickstarter batch, here are my thoughts: the design does look beautiful and the valve is very clever. But beyond that, I found a lot of issues for the price.
- The scale is very jumpy and not as responsive as a good coffee scale should be. The app was also very clunky. I don't know if there have been recent updates to it though because my unit died within a year and a half of receiving it. Like straight up wouldn't charge. When I emailed Gina for support, they said all I could do was buy a new one??? So IMO if you really love the design, don't bother with the smart scale extra.
- Issues don't stop with the scale though. The lid doesn't sit on as nicely as it should and also is at some point going to break for you. I also am just not a fan of ceramic as a material to use for a dripper cone. This and the valve assembly make for heat batteries and you absolutely need to preheat the dripper assembly when you do a full drip recipe. And that cooler valve? Always gets hot to the touch when you wanna turn it.
So my own thought is that the Gina like many Goat Story products isn't necessarily a bad product but it's expensive and prioritizes looking nice for the Gram rather than trying to help you make the best coffee. But if you really do like the way it looks, go for the basic version.
Looks like you have the o-kettle? How do u like it? Do you have the shadow kettle from same Kickstarter…
It’s quite similar to the Stagg with the biggest difference being that I’m not in love with the ergonomics of the handle. Build quality on the base / knob also feels a bit cheaper, but functionally they’re almost identical

Hmm great question!
The scale on the Gina is very good. Accurate and responsive. For just daily use, I think I’d prefer to have the hands on process and more premium build of the Gina and Arco. More work, but more enjoyable to use. If convenience and accuracy are more important, Gevi is the way to go
