There's so much more you could do with a Raspberry Pi. I am curious as to whether this setup is worth it, as opposed to a wireless camera? It might require less power & take up less room. This video is still enlightening, though.
I have an rc car with a camera that I use for inspecting under houses. I currently use an FPV type setup with a Spectrum radio and get the video on a Flysight diversity monitor. It does the job but I can't take a pic or video through the radio. I would love to be able to snap pics or switch between video and pics as I want. Any ideas? This video is getting me closer for sure.

It's been 2 years now so you've probably figured out but I'd strap an action camera (like a GoPro) to the car and this way you'd get a higher quality footage afterwards. This is how most FPV drone footage is captured.
wait you need to do all that to get a video stream work over wifi ? I would have just started a discord video call on the pi and joined the video call from my PC or tablet and wallah wifi rc car.
I'd like to see one using the DSC port some controllers have for long range transmitters over the network (or vpn) so that it could be viewed/controlled over the internet anywhere. Any ideas on this?
Hi if you don't mind me asking, does this also work if i use sim card for internet connectivity? because i want it to be able to reach long distance and not relying on wifi....
If I follow ur exact step by step will it give me the option to use my Raspi camera I have ? Or do I need to do something else ? I made a mistake somewhere an now it just shows this >
@@DirtyGarageTx go to the github page and it should have a different input for the raspi cam so just change the coding in his line for it and it should work.
did you know that you actually don't need putty anymore. well, windows now natively supports ssh so you just need to type ssh and your ip then -i pi and enter
hey, great video small problem for me tho; i can get the video to stream when going though the cd comands but not through the boot comand. any idea or way to have it run within a different python script vrs boot? trying to build a robot with multiple functions.
It's very hard work. You can develop encoder and decoder with FPGA to process it. However that is very hard to do. Anyway how about it ? I have some plan to 'how to make it' ua-cam.com/video/3AyCy1UUlpU/v-deo.html

@@Rex227c1 Try with a 4g sim wlan....it's 50 bucks and it goes well with RPi....and then you kinda have unlimited range....for your camera. But for controls ...this is another story. You need to make an IOT server and then try to hook your motors and steering to the Rpi
Im getting a rasp zero w soon and my goal is to make a wifi drone (ill buy a cheap flying rc with no camera then attach the pi, a webcam and a usb dongle to it) but i dont really have any experience with these things... your vid is helpful i think! If you have any tips for this, anything you think would help me, let me know!
Sorry to break your bubble, but it doesnt go well together. Cheap drone will not be able to carry such load (RPI, camera, usb dongle etc.). Try looking into the DJI Tello drone. It is under $100 and there are already some libraries for controlling it via Python and getting video stream of course.
Great and very inspiring video ! I got one question tho ..What if I already had a 5V battery? IWould I still need that Carrier Board ?Cause I got a bit confused about how to make one myself
Really wish I could do this but I'm kind of slow and the instructions are vague and a little quick sometimes. Can't find any better resources on the internet either

How would you configure the pi to control it remotely using a 4g USB dongle?
Did you find anything on that? Illd like to be able to control a via a mobile 4g data rather than wifi

I also think its feasible
Amazing video
I uploaded a video doing practically the same thing, but I also added the ability to take pictures and save them onto a thumb drive.
Where is that. I need to be able to do this too

do you need to be connected to a router?
I think you used lithiom battery, Why did you connect the battery without battery protection board?
i was wondering if you could control it through a web server onto your phone.
