Tom's songs are excellent, but it's SOOO awesome to hear him throw in some good covers, as he does at nearly every concert. He always does them at least as well, and usually better, than the original. When he toured in 1987, he was doing "For What It's Worth", which later appeared on the Westwood One radio show--- it's still the best version of that song I've *ever* heard. Tom is cool for paying a bit of well-deserved honor to the great songs of the past. (And "Gloria" is one of the best).
Going to see him in Cincinnati on the 8th....hope he plays this song. Saw him two years ago and it was the best show I had ever seen. i swore then I would never miss another show if he was close!
Tom can make all songs he sings HIS. He get's INTO each story. BUT if I could only see ONE more show in my life....It would be.... Van Morrison. He wrote the songs of our youth, with feeling. I hope to see him.
anyone want to really hear the best version of this song? Then go check out van Morrison and John Lee Hooker version. It will blow you away if you are a true blues lover. Then check out Van Morrison and Kelly (forgot his last name at the moment) there version has Sly and the Family Stone Thank you for letin me be myself again ( i know i spelt that wrong) in the middle it is also a killer version.
