So literally 2 words into This question, Charlie knew right where it was going. He was able to predict the conversation that's how low brow. And ignorant some of these people are.
Reading books is great and studying is great. But really?I think the best metric for intelligence is the ability to have a conversation and learn something from the person. You're having a conversation with basically humbling yourself to not only thinking the way you think and opening yourself up to other thoughts. That doesn't mean that you always agree with everybody. But that means that you at least allow the opportunity for those thoughts to filter themselves through your critical thinking brain... Being able to adjust your thoughts on the fly.I think that is a metric of intelligence.
At 62 and with 3 degrees, there is nothing Kirk could teach me. Having said that, I am a Reagan conservative and appreciate what he's trying to accomplish. It won't work, but the desire and effort are laudable. And it pays well. He doesn't have a grasp of political philosophy. Like the children he argues with, he is sophomoric though he is a lot closer to correct than they. He states that socialism snd communism are interchangeable terms. Lol. Not quite. Many differences... in communist nations which have all perverted Marxism since true Marxists believe in a proletarian revolution, the government owns the means of production and exchange. This is universally true and not at all what Marx envisioned. The use of force distinguishes the 2. Communist revolutions are violent by design. Socialist transitions are by contrast surreptitious, and, in socialist economic structures, the economy is often mixed with some private ownership regulated by the government. Short essay over. Suffice it to say, the students he debates are not taught: They are trained. Trained how and what to think by radical zealots. Completely incapable of independent thought, they are wholly ignorant and have no mental capacity for balanced, logical thought. Closed minded emotional rectums who will never contribute anything to the betterment of society. An exercise in futility by a decent, not formally educated but reasonably bright, somewhat misinformed quasi conservative who definitely means well but needs some help with history, meaning and objective studies.
