In the beginning of the season you said if were still playing meaningful hockey in April then that's a successful season, were here! The last two games played have been exciting to watch and that's all we could ask for
Detroit has 52 more goals that Washington (216). While only giving up 10 more goals.
This Caps scoring stat is glaring in the Metro (and NHL) for eligibility for a wildcard spot.
This season is nothing but a success. We're accomplishing exactly what management said was the goal playing meaningful games to the end. With the 2 bad stretches this season both obviously linked to Larkin injuries, imagine our record without them I think our healthy Larkin record extrapolated to ~100 point pace. Raymond and Seider taking steps, and next year we'll replace some vets with 1st rounders and start building that younger window
The fact Edvinsson is full time NHL is a big deal.
Raymond is trending towards point per game first line winger
Larkin is still getting better and better
Seider is a rock
We got Cat who can be a solid top 6 winger

Defense still needs a lot of work and they need another legitimate 2C (Compher is a 3C), and a good starter that can share the load with Lyon or whoever.
@nickfury8973 I think goalie is the biggest need this off-season. Lyon can be here but to be a playoff team better off not having him be The Guy. Cossa should be up soon given his AHL year, so don't want to go overboard with it, but we can't run it back next year
At 9:55 I agree 100% with Brad. I in fact came to the same conclusion after the Toronto game. If we need someone else to lose so we can make it, it doesn't happen.
Seider 200 blocked shots 200 hits hasn’t been done in 16 years, and is put up against every team’s stars. I think he doesn’t get enough credit. He gets lumped into the rest of the Defense. Once we get some more defenders he might get noticed.

I gotta keep this episode in mind when I get back to the gym. That was a lot of words I don't know, but I was wondering the same as skating is the thing keeping me from the next league.

"Distributed" scoring separated DRW from most all teams, giving them an edge that few other teams had. When things got tight, Newsy shortened the bench and we went on a losing spree. Larkin and Raymond have willed the team back, but Newsy had ensured that his bottom six can no longer be counted on to contribute. Shame on Newsy and his lack of experience at the helm.
I hate to put it out there but you know this will just so happen. Waiting for the moment where there is 4 min left with Wings down 2 in the 3rd or something and Lalonde is sitting there with goalie still in net not pulled and they are just spinning their wheels. I really really hope Lalonde fully understands that if you are down in either of these games late in the 3rd, that goalie needs to be pulled and you MUST at least tie it. No ifs ands or buts except you know he will flounder.

So for those who are curious if Philly has any incentive to win besides spoiling against Washington. If the Flyers can win in regulation and everyone else loses out..get this; Philly breaks the tie against Washington by the 5th tie breaker rule. By rule currently between the two the Caps are ahead 3pts(sol+w) over Philly's 2pts(sow) but a regulation win would put them ahead. Philly and Washington would have have the exact same record all the way to the number of shootout wins both at 39-32-11 if Philly wins in reg. I would not complain if Stamkos came here as long as Kane stayed. Im a huge Stamkos fan. I know the rivalry but Tampa is my No. 2 team. Goes back to cheering for the Canadian players in 2004.
I've been thinking about Stamkos too ever since he complained about not getting re-upped earlier in the season but no way would there be the cap space for Kane, Stammer plus renewing Seider and Raymond. Right now the thinking is we don't even have enough for just Kane.
If we are talking about forgetting the cap though, I'd keep Kane, get Stammer, bring Bert back and raid Tampa a second time for Coops lol. Ghenghis Khan style NHL raid :D

I don't think 91 is enough to make it for us because we no longer have the tiebreaker and we didn't get enough losing help on Saturday but who knows it would be nice. I think the bigger picture lies with the off-season and what management does with the team and the performances after the 2nd year with lalonde. It was an improvement nonetheless. LGRW.
need a caps loss and two wins from the wings or a win and an ot loss gets the wings in if the caps lose one in regulation. so there are paths but yes, do need a bit of luck and the wings have to take care of business
