  • We have finally crossed the Top of the World Border Crossing in Poker Creek, Alaska and it is time to make our way to Chicken. Once in Chicken we find free camping at the Downtown Chicken, a great family owned establishment with a mercantile, liquor store, saloon and cafe. Every night we pulled up a bar stool in the Chicken Creek Saloon and listened to stories from the locals and enjoyed some good Alaska brew. On Sunday we decide to drive to the end of the Taylor Highway to Eagle, Alaska where we once again meet up with the mighty Yukon River. While in Eagle we visit Fort Egbert, an old US Army headquarters of Alaska back in the days of the Klondike Gold Rush and later a telegraph installation until wireless systems took over landlines. Finally our last day in Chicken is a down day, or maintenance day but the day wasn't spoiled when a Momma Moose and her twin calves walked into camp.

I have drove that road in a Blizzard in January to pick up a 1 ton dually on the back of my roll back tow truck. Most white knuckle driving I have did in my 30 years in Alaska. From Eagle back to Chicken took 13 1/2 hours

I agree with you they messed up with that AK sticker, lol. Great moose photos. Been watching all your vlogs taking notes for a possible summer of 2019 trip. Been trying for the last three summers, something always gets in the way.

Great video... we are contemplating heading this way from Whitehorse/Dawson City instead of staying on Al-Can

That's the area I used to Moose and Caribou hunt in! What beautiful country! Good memories and many of them were spent at that bar!

It's so pretty out there. I know we will never take the RV there, but I hope to do a cruise or something one day!

Great video. Went to Chicken 2 years ago but only visited. We plan to go home through that route this year though and maybe spend a night or two. Question: where did you get your travel map? The US and Canada match up perfectly.

I subscribed to your channel after seeing you on Drivin and Vibin and watching some of your videos. This Alaska trip is epic so far and I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
My one curiosity is why did you change from a fifth wheel to a motor home? I've taken trips on both and the constant creek creek squeak squeak bam bam sound from a motor home drives me insane! I'd much rather drive in a nice safe, quiet truck as I would a noisy as hell motor home.

We are going to do a video on that soon. Its a big story and deserves its own segment. So please stay tuned.

Hey Guy's. Keep the great videos coming. Can't wait for the next one.
A quick question: How long and what make is your class A? We have 1 year until full timing. Can't wait.

We have a 2016 Fleetwood Discovery 37R. It is 38'8" in length bumper to bumper.

We're looking for our first class A. To purchase this fall and outfit for our full timing by next summer. We've been leaning towards a 29 to 32' rig. Just afraid of not fitting in some state/provincial parks.
Take care and safe travels in Alaska.

Enjoyed your AK sticker ceremony. I actually had someone ask me how AK could get so cold when it always showed up on the weather weather maps next to Hawaii. I had no reply

Did a great job on all the videos, have watched them all. Looking at doing this trip in 2020. Where did you get your map for the side of your rig? Looks like the best one I have seen.
