Even if the RD was absolutely bone stock and, say, within two years of it leaving the factory, just like the R3, it would have been a close match. This RD of my cousin looks great but it wasn't the best specimen around engine wise. My own RDs (two) are the opposite. They are in shambles cosmetically, but engine wise they are way healthier than most RDs. They have been in hibernation and I intend to bring them out soon. Shall post the acceleration videos then. 😀

You are right. All are required to revert to stock. A few have, but the majority hasn't. Big bikes in India are still taken out only on weekends so people try to find routes that don't have cops. 😁

This RD350 needs servicing even the sound isn't in aproper order and for a race u need a two Good, Experienced same weight riders to race two machines not one with 100+ kg and another with 50-60 kg rider.
Neither here is 100 kg 😂 Also, although this RD wasn't a prime example engine wise, even a brand new "stock" RD wouldn't have been able to beat the R3. I wrote about it in 2017. Google RD vs R3 and you will know. That said, I will be doing timed runs of both my RDs that are great engine wise, but absolutely shabby cosmetically 😁

The two stroke will go for rebuild because cooling and lubrication is Achilles heel of two stroke. And regarding Rd then I know it's legendary history because my brother had Rd350 with completely us spec rebuilt. But he sold it because no use wasting time and money in maintaining it.

That said, a two stroke can be ridden fast all day without any breakdowns, forget needing a rebuild. You just need to know how to ride one. You haven't owned one that's why you don't know. Your brother might have owned one but he couldn't keep it for long because he didn't have the knowledge to keep it running. I own two RDs and both have been my absolutely reliable daily runners for over two decades. Haters of RDs are usually those.people who can't own one. Bitter truth.

Late 70's ish with magneto...if it was the 80's RD 350 with CDI, the tail light probably the best view 😊

If the RD350 had porting, the heads decked, and expansion chambers it would be much faster than the R3.
