1:51 I still wish Misato and Shinji had a better ending between because it feels like End of Evangelion all over again and Shinji didn’t really need a relationship with either Asuka or Mari even though she is a totally new character we have no clue about since again no proper continuity or explanation about her. Not that I don’t like mind you she was better than Asuka in some ways, but it really bugs me that they never actually reconciled naturally or held a conversation not under a doomsday clock ticking to force it and Misato doesn’t get shot to help Shinji forgive her but hears her out and her feelings about him, too. It’s the one thing I wanted.
Mari is literally everything that Shinji is not, shes all the positives that he lacks. Misato has too much baggage with him. Mari being the one to stay with Shinji at the end is the movies way to tell us to move on and be more positive in life.
@@CryptidFlame I suppose that's true, and the ending message could be interpreted that way, but in my case it's a different story. I'm an old school fan of the og series, I liked the interactions and development from the T.v. series alot more than this rebuild remake storyline movie franchise they made 😡💢🔥 I've always loved the relationship dynamic between Shinji and Misato as a sort of mom and son vibe or mother figure to an abandoned child scenario type deal. Love relationship aside I'm okay with Mari she could've used more work with character introduction and background, but she was a better choice than Asuka, I'll say at the very least.
@@aaronsteel853 I understand loving the old series, but the rebuilds are very different, they are completely different characters. Not to carry over stuff from the og series to the rebuilds is very much part of the message from Anno to move on and not be stuck in the past. I'm just speaking about the larger point of the rebuilds.
Mari is literally the director's wife forcing her way into the series out of no where. Look her up, she is basically the anime version of Hideaki Anno's wife. On the other hand it sort of makes sense in a meta kind of way. Shinji basically represents Anno, with all of his nerdy, anti-social and lonely traits. In the 12 years between the eva movies Anno got married and now his wife is inserted into the series as a mary sue character to save him in the end.
@@h0lyavenger Yeah, if that's true what is Misato to Anno exactly? I mean if Shinji's based on him who is Misato, someone who was there for him too? I don't know what his real life version or rlv Misato was but someone like that had to leave some kind of impact on him. I always felt the characters needed more interactions with one another. I never thought the need for a romantic or dynamic relationship was what the story needed. I always felt Misato needed to help Shinji as his guardian and friend by actually taking the time to talk to him and his past . The whole relationship thing is over saturated and abundantly used in shows, movies, and series. It's annoying seeing the same thing over and over again relationship aren't always the solution to everything. I wish they'd realize that

hello. Ive finished the whole franchise of Evangelion. The end had me in tears. I was proud of shinji. Thats the end of this sentence.
