Also something interesting i’d like to mention that the flute boy grove DOES have a still world segment as part of a side quest in castle town, in which a child falls in and goes missing. which is such a fun reference to have a child go missing in that grove in every game it appears in lol
We know, thanks to the Nintendo timeline update, that Echoes of Wisdom is set in the same fallen timeline as A Link to the Past and A Link between Worlds, so despite the differences, it's the same Hyryule and precedes the events recounted in Link II's epilogue.
This is very true, I’m interested to go into Echoes now with this mindset and see how much stuff is actually is viable to LoZ and AoL with the geography 🧐 As well as the storyline ,I could get as well with the manuals, to see how much could come from EoW since it did come right before those two games! 😄
Thank you!🥹💕 I love adding in the “lost files” from ALttP when I can, I feel like most people don’t know about them! The castle actually has code for what looks like a kitchen and other bedrooms but it’s actually really hard to find anything on the files! 😅😁
This. Was. Awesome! The only thing that would have made it better would be if you also show the evolution of each location from ALttP > ALBW > EoW. Also, could the ruins near kakariko be the ruins of Thieves Town?
Thank you! I thought about making a few more videos with other maps and games for items/npc pertaining to EoW because of this thought!😋 I don’t know about thieves town, it’s basically a carbon copy of Kak, but maybe! 🤔
what a cool comparison, thanks for making this video! love seeing the differences, and even though I played a Link to the Past, I didn't even realize how much of the map was basically a 1:1 recreation!
I think that area between the castle and the village is an example of how over time the land expands or contracts which is why in the different games things are overall the same but arranged differently around the map.
This is a very good point, I didn’t think about that! In the real world things move according to food and water flow, so it would make sense in the game! 😄
I just realized this is the first game using this map that didn't have an alternate mirror world. It has other dimensions, but they aren't copies of the whole map. The deleted stuff being added back in is amazing
Some of the locations in Echoes of Wisdom were different enough that it didn't occur to me that they were key areas from ALttP. And that's coming from someone who played the heck out of ALttP for decades. This video gives me the feeling of "Ooooh why didn't I notice that when playing?!" For instance, the lost woods. Pretty obvious location, but I could only see it as the new location and not as the lost woods from ALttP. All the areas feel this way where even though they're based on ALttP, I only perceive it as something new and unique.
I didn’t realize how much the maps had in common until I actually started this script, but there are quite a lot of things I could nitpick on for smaller stuff. However I grabbed most of the big stuff!! 😋 I had fun with this one! 😁
I wish those weirdo knight enemies returned in echoes😭😭😭 but yehh as a massive fan of alttp and ESPECIALLY albw it was so nice to see the map return (it was lowkey funny how tiny the sanctuary was tho lmfao)
Seeing as the design team were aiming for the design of the Hyrule Kingdom in Echoes of Wisdom to appear roughly 300 years after Tri-Force Heroes, they've done pretty well at nailing that. Most of us could tell it fitted exactly in that place, well before it was confirmed.
This is true, I figured it was going to be in the fallen timeline with the map integration but I would have put it between two other games rather than TriForce heros and the original. However I do agree with their placement!😋 For Nintendo knows best. 🤣
In a decade, "Echoes of Wisdom" will likely become a cult classic nostalgic game for gamers. Pol’s Voice appears in the game, but only as a stuffed plush toy found in Castle Town. It serves more as an Easter egg, as it wouldn’t have made sense for Zelda to include Pol’s Voice in a significant way. The characters tend to jump around and would be harmed by loud noises, so their exclusion from the game is just miserable. 😔
Nit, I love your admiration for Pols Voice 🥹 I have to agree with you, it would have been very cool to see them back. You could have used the rain frogs, to destroy them or something… you know, your campaigning has made me want them in the game now 🥴 They did miss a really big opportunity there!
I was hoping someone would make a video like this, this was better to watch than I thought! Seems like they mostly built off from A Link to the Past, but since we now know where Echoes of Wisdom takes place in the timeline have you considered making a similar video with A Link Between Worlds instead?
I had this video made a while before the official timeline placement, so yeah I would be up to do a grand map evaluation in a few months to do the whole map! This would include most of the 20 other games for their maps, maybe even npcs and items 👀 this could be a long video 😄
I don't think I'd want to tie Sanctuary and the Temple of Time together physically, perhaps couldn't. Just looking at it though and it seemed like a churchlike holy place, same vibe the Temple of Time gives off. Aesthetically, it might have been the same theme in mind, if you round up aesthetics enough, you might have a general formula they just reinvent when they can. Fish people, Mountain people, Peaceful town, a single npc selling a bottle, the list goes on.
If there was a link between the light temple and the sanctuary, it would be they could have evolved from each other with time and funds. However I don’t particularly think there is a link between the two as of now! 😁
I also hope someday we get a remake of ALTTP so new fans can enjoy the game with a new fresh coat of paint. Imagine the art style of EOW with ALTTP storytelling in mind. They could add new stuff to this remake so it can get better. 😅
I LOVE the idea of a complete remake of ALttP with the newer art style but the same clunky mechanics, could you imagine if a remake would have the same bugs as the og? THE GLITCHES WOULD BE COOL TOO (visually of course) 🤣
All of the game maps overlap. Sometimes you are only seeing lesser hyrule, and in other games you are seeing greater hyrule, or other region locked areas that intertwine with other games. Towns change location, but the overall topography is generally the same in each game.
They are close I agree, I mean if you look at the map of AoL and the map of LoZ (86) you can clear see the whole map in the bottom area of the map in Zelda 2! 😁
I wouldn’t say that necessarily, they put work in to different things in between the games. With EoW they put a lot into the mechanics, storyline and NPC’s. Where ALttP they didn’t have the mechanics option when it was being made so they delegated their time differently if that makes sense! In my opinion they are both fabulous games in their own way😄
This game is what happens when they actually try rathertha rehashing an old game and slapping a nee coat of paint on it while they spent 6 years developing 1 mechanics and shoe horning it in on top...😮
I don't like the name chsnges in Echoes of Wisdom. Feels pretty woke to rename the Triforce "Profile Energy". The game is cute but I finished it and have almost forgotten that I have it.
I have to agree the name change are kinda wack, there are a few things in this game that made me question the dialect from Nintendo. The main one being the Triforce, it didn’t sit well with me, but it was an adorable game but from a Zelda fans perspective I don’t think it cut nearly as deeply as I wanted it to with lore 🥴😄
@@Bashfulday I would like to point out that the reason for the name changes was because it's been chronologically so long between games that some things have been forgotten, this is why Ganon was first known as "blue monster" because no one knew who he was. This was my interpretation when playing the game, but has since been confirmed by producer Eiji Aonuma. Aonuma wanted fans of the series to be able to assume "Prime Energy" was the Triforce before actually getting to it.
This actually makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the clarification here, I didn’t think about the passed time between games! That does clock though about the “blue monster” I just figured they tried to make more pleasing for a younger or newer audiences with the game style! 😄 Maybe I should replay it and look into more detail on the names and descriptions of things 🤔
Link couldn't afford to pay his home mortgage, so they demolished the house and now he lives in Suthorn Village paying rent. That's my crazy theory.
This is funny 😂, I like to think the uncle didn’t leave it to link in his will 😭😂
Also something interesting i’d like to mention that the flute boy grove DOES have a still world segment as part of a side quest in castle town, in which a child falls in and goes missing. which is such a fun reference to have a child go missing in that grove in every game it appears in lol
This is very true! I didn’t add this bit in for spoilers but it is kinda funny how that grove eats kids… maybe they shouldn’t let kids play there 🥴😂

So glad I found this channel a few months ago. Non-corporate Zelda videos from an actual fan of Zelda. Amazing☺️

what a cool comparison, thanks for making this video! love seeing the differences, and even though I played a Link to the Past, I didn't even realize how much of the map was basically a 1:1 recreation!
Thank you so much 😁💕 I was shocked to see so many locations from ALttP, during gameplay I was literally fangirling over the map of all things! 🤣
EoW is my favorite 2D Zelda to date and I am really amazed how many references to old games it has.

You are absolutely correct!😁 Could you imagine a whole still world?? 🤔
Didn't notice how similar the central part of the map was to the one in ALttP because of all the extra areas they added :D
That's cool, I didn't play Echoes myself but I do plan to, great video. Keep it up :)
Thank you! I tried to keep any spoilers to a minimum for everyone! 😁 I hope you have a blast when you play through it!! 💕

The sanctuary was kinda comically small 🤣 but it did look like the mountain was absorbing it like in ALttP so that’s a good thing at least 😋

I recently won AlttP so it was fun catching the references xd
Great video btw
Thank you! 😁 I have played ALttP WAY too many times and enjoyed every second of it, I hope you also enjoyed your time in the game! 😋💕
Very nice video, well put together
Thank you 😄💕
I had no idea about the pirate ship dungeon! Great vid
Thank you! 🥹💕 I about lost my mind when I seen the ship in Echoes, however I’m kinda sad we didn’t get it in ALttP😪

A Link to the Past will always be one of my favorite games of all time!🤩 It’s such a innovative game, plus it’s top down so that’s a natural 20 imo🤣
This was needed 😃
I thought the same thing 🫡🤣
Awesome video, good work. I still need to play EoW, maybe I will this winter.

I have wondered if Echoes of Wisdom started development as a remake of Link to the Past, would explain why it has the same map.

We need a actual sequel to the original zelda 1 and 2 the falen timeline. Having echo's of wisdom as a prequel does not makes sense.
