That's a ball python. For anyone who doesn't know, they are absolute sweethearts and rarely strike when they're bred in captivity. They're actually heralded as one of the best snakes for beginners and children because they are so sweet and chill. The fact this sweet baby didn't try to bite at all goes to show how docile this breed is. I personally love ball pythons and I'm so happy these wonderful people saved her and gave her a home. Edit: get your popcorn for the conments here, popcorn for the comments here! (Thanks for all the likes and comments, i feel smart now)
I have one and love her to the moon. Barbara was actually just in my lap when I came across this video and we watched it together. 😅I can’t imagine someone doing this to a beautiful ball python or any animal. Some humans are the worst, but some are the best…like these people who saved this girl. Thanks for reminding people how great BPs are!
They're also native to sub-Saharan Africa, and unlike a few other captive species which have established wild populations in North America ball pythons are still only in the wild as released pets. Individual snakes not part of a breeding population. The only two ways that snake could be out there are it escaped or was abandoned.
It's obvious that it was someone's pet. It was so calm and docile. Shame on who ever let her go. Be responsible, don't let your pets go abandoned. There's plenty of places that will gladly take them off of your hands. Thanks to you guys for saving her. She probably wouldn't have lived for long if it wasn't for y'all.
@@ferretqueen2908 Except that one time in High School, where I decided to pick up a very tired ball python when he was about to sleep, and he attempted to bite my face. Lol. It was my fault, of course, but it certainly gave me an adrenaline rush compared to riding a roller coaster. I'm just surprised my reflex was fast enough.
@@meganlodon Well they aren't venomous so even if it did get ya you'd be fine. Also humans have insane subconscious reflexes built into our nervous system, you probably reacted before you knew you did. Same way with the whole cat/cucumber reaction.
@@joshuaurbany6468 Yeah, I know they aren't venomous. And they are actually very sweet in nature. I've been bit by dogs meaner than a Ball Python. I only had that one interaction because he was agitated. Again, it was my fault.
That amount of ticks on the poor snake. That's really bad. Snakes might not show love like other animals, but just because love a little different, it doesn't mean they can't or don't. You can just tell that lovely Python was thankful
@Patrick Swan I couldn't agree more. I've owned, bred, caught and released snakes (in their proper environments) since the 1960s. But I get very frustrated at videos that anthropomorphize them. This crap encourages ignorance, and as far as snakes are concerned, ends up doing harm, not good..
@@bjs301 it’s weird how people think they possess human emotions which are the result of complex prefrontal cortexes and the largest encephalisation quotient of all animals. Snakes may be tamed but aren’t domesticated (selectively bred for dozens of generations for human-seeking behaviour) like a dog would be.
@@bjs301You're very likely right, but they can show a sense of comfort towards humans whose scent and touch they know and trust. They also do have personalities; there are those snakes who prefer strict solitude to limited interaction, and those who will seek out human contact over those who won't. I've owned snakes, and while I can say I never felt they were "loving," there was one male snake I cared for who preferred human contact. He had a heat lamp, was well-fed, was at ease in his enclosure, and yet when I opened his enclosure in the mornings, he'd want to curl up on my lap over all other options available to him. He lived to a ripe, old age, but he never tired of our morning routine until the day he passed.
@@benh9784 Sure, I've owned similar snakes. Thinking the supposed preference for human contact is based on any sense of attraction or affection is simply nonsense. Your male had a heat lamp. I wonder if he'd have still sought you out if he had a heat pad to lay on. Or maybe you used an irritating substrate. Catch a species of climbing snake, and it'll spend all day trying to climb up on you. I find it preferable to try to understand animals on their own terms, rather than naively thinking they simply behave the way I want them to behave.
As a person who has a general fear of snakes and would probably never keep one, it still absolutely broke my damn heart to see the intro to this poor little girl. The fact that the previous owner had no interest in the pain it may go through (and any animal that has been captive bred for that matter) just kills me.
Ik, people shouldn’t throw pets out like a broken toy. Oh and, I think I know a snake that wouldn’t cause any harms. If your looking forward to getting a snake to take away the fear I recommend the ball pythons for beginners because my cousin have one and she is a sweetheart. She likes to be held, doesn’t bite, etc.
Open your eyes people. These videos are fake. @@randokaratajev2617 well, these things CAN happen because when a person doesn’t want their dog anymore or hates it they put it in a shelter, set it up for adoption, or abandon it in the wild

People, you gotta realize that not just because they're animals they can be released into the wild whenever you want. An animal that has been raised as a pet hardly ever knows how to rely on their natural instincts. I'll have you know that if you ever just dumped a pet on the streets thinking 'it's fine, it's an animal, they know what to do' you've most likely just sent your pet to their death
The sad truth is a lot of them thinks that and dumps them. What really shocks me most times is how sometimes people can be really cruel. Telling others that they are scared of some animals.
Thank you! This is what I have been talking about. I know these people mainly have good intentions by saying these animals should be released back in the wild, but they almost never got the opportunity to develop such instincts due to them being in a protected environment! If they go back, they have high chances of not surviving, so what's better? Letting them out or keeping them inside somewhere where they will be fed, protected and cared after 24/7? Hope more people see your comment because it's 100% correct!
No matter how creepy people think they are, animals don't deserve to be abandoned. If you are no longer capable of giving them love and care, find someone who is.
ngl but I think so too. U took them to take care of them. If u cant after sometime due to reasons, its your responsibility to find someone who is willing to take care of them as u yourself promised to take care of the poor animal

Think someone got a pet snake and didn't realize how much they grow. Like any animal or reptile. People are ignorant with pets, was amazed that the snake never tried to attack not even once. Especially when she wasn't feeling great with all the ticks. Normally animals are more defensive when they are hurting or sick.
snakes aren’t for everybody, but if there’s one snake to make you change your mind on them, it’s gonna be a ball python. fantastic animals they are and amazing pets!
This snake is 100 percent different from any creepy, dangerous and especially venemous snakes out there.. This one cannot live in the wild and depends on humans to take care of them
funny thing is that the guy in the video is actually a zookeeper who mainly works with gators and has a youtube channel where he talks about them and interacts with them
People are so stupid sometimes. They just say "I want a pet______" and don't do their research on what it really takes to care for them. New landlord says you can't have a pet? Plenty of places do allow them. At least find a good home for it instead of just dumping it in the wild. You have to be 100% committed to doing right by the animal, or just don't have one at all.
@@adtilmitsu7496 eh it’s a part of their life. Generally the skins kinda wet like a wet sock, so you just let it dry for a couple of days. Snakes poop a lot of After shedding probably so that’s gonna be mess as well
It was so sweet seeing her starting to flick her tongue and smell her surroundings again...feeling up to engaging with the world instead of shut down from illness and misery. So lucky these kind people found her.
Even though it was a tame snake abandoned by its owners, with how she suffered one would still expect her to be defensive. Especially the way she was pulled out of her hiding place. But no, the rescuer said not once. That must be one heck of a sweet natured snake. Deserves a safe forever home, I hope this couple keep her.
Yeah ball pythons are one of the most docile snakes you can own. You can pick ones up in the wild like this and theyll just wrap into a ball without fighting. Its when thier baby thier more hostile but even then they calm down. Had mine since she was a baby and shes never striked at me. She’s really sweet unless your a rat lol. Very misunderstood creatures, and they all have different personalities like any animal.
Don´t listen to these snake fanatics. It was a tame snake and obviously too weak from the bloodsucking ticks to strike at anything even if it wanted to, and by the time it had regained its strength it had realized the people where not a threat. I dare you to try to pull a wild healthy python from its lair like that nutjob above suggested. Even Steve Erwin got bit like 100 times by snakes during his career from picking them up in that crazy enthusiastic way he always did.
I don’t like snakes and I could never have one as a pet, but whoever abandoned her should be ashamed of themselves. When you decide to get a pet, no matter what it is, you are making a commitment to love and care for that animal until the end of their life or yours. It’s not an option to simply discard them. I’m so glad that there are good people like this helping animals.
That poor thing. Those ticks are enormous. We just took in a pair of budgies who somebody left abandoned in an apartment. Poor things nearly starved. One had ataxia when he first came home, but he's doing much better now after a couple of weeks, and they've integrated into our flock.
So glad to hear! I used to have 2 budgies but i had to make the hard decision to give them away because my mom and dad got 2 kittens. But now a nice old lady takes care of them, i miss my birds but it was for the best.
@@skystuff9913 They do not typically attack humans, but will bite and possibly constrict if they feel threatened, or mistake a hand for food. A python may exhibit different biting strategies based on circumstance. ... In a prey bite, the python strikes, coils around its prey and does not let go.
@@mhne8993 yup you're right. My husband only got bit once by his in the many many yrs he owned her. Because my husbands hand smelled like food. And so she bit it thinking it was food. I imagine a wild snake would have used the sand or dirt to scrub them off, but this is a domestic snake. It's just cowering in terror wondering where the warm terrarium went. Imagine if it still thought their owner would come back, and was just waiting. .-.
@@wildwest8069 yes. that’s the problem of a domesticated wild animals, they cannot survive easily in the wild because they are dependent to their “so-called” owner’s.

Yepp same even I'm scared of crawling reptiles but just because I maintain my distance when I see one doesn't mean I hate them I love to see all animals being cared by fellow humans it's just too heartwarming ❤️
Just a small point, that yes, people who abandon pets are horrible. However, keep in mind Ball Pythons are Escape Artists. Especially for a new Keeper, a lot of new people who keep them underestimate them, and in just a brief few seconds, they can escape. This girl could be an escape artist, not a dumped pet. Just food for thought. Either way, glad she was rescued!
As a former snake owner, I didn't know that either. However, what I do know is that usually when an animal has a lot of ticks on them, they aren't typically in good health because normally healthy animals can remove ticks from themselves (especially if they are wild...domestic like cats and dogs need some help from their owners). Glad to see that this snake find a family that could take care of her.

You can see her eyes go for cloudy to clear during this time. Happy and healthy. I once found a lace monitor covered in ticks and luckily got it rescued in time by the Parks and Wildlife folks. It definitely would have died by paralysis and poisoning. All animals are precious.
snakes actually have cloudy eyes while they shed. my sweet boy has it too whenever he sheds, and it's perfectly normal. but i could definitely see the snake light up and get a lot more social and happy than she was before
@@MisterHeroman Not in the slightest. The idea of putting a snake in water to help it shed is mostly outdated, and they definitely do not need soap unless it's specifically made for the species and the snake has wounds. You can put a snake in a tub with a lid and air-holes and a shallow amount of warm water (nothing as deep as in the video) for about twenty minutes (some people put a rock in there for the snake to sit on so it doesn't get too stressed) and then you should be able to peel the shed right off. :)
I’m terrified of snakes but I could never imagine being mean to them. No animal should suffer cruelty, no matter how evil they may look. I’m glad this creature is ok now
Yes! - it shows snakes are not vicious and deserve to be treated and cared for just like any other exotic animal…I love snakes …so happy for this girl and glad you made this comment
This snake was obviously bred in captivity and dumping them into the wild when they clearly can't adapt back there is both cruel and irresponsible. I'm not much of a fan of snakes but poor thing was probably so scared and confused when their previous owners left them there.
And blind, she still has the caps on her eyes that come with shedding. In that state snakes are super vulnerable because they can’t see anything, so that poor girl couldn’t have even known where she was or where to go outside of smelling the air. I was hoping to see her lose those caps by the end and see her pretty eyes but I’m glad she’s safe.
The world is better with people like you in it. I am not a snake person a and never want to own one, but y'all did a good deed by rescuing this grateful creature. God bless you both.💞🐍

Having not bought mice in decades, I have no idea how much they cost now.
I got my python from a woman , who was abusing him. She had ceder chips, a heat rock, and no water. Ceder is toxic to snakes. Years ago, I was left to care for a ball python after the owner moved out and left (him?) behind. Snakes aren't really my jam, but no living creature deserves to be abandoned and not cared for. So, I named him Wheels. I went to the library (the internet was a little baby then), and borrowed a few books on python care. Off to the pet shop I went, and quickly got over my fear of rodents, snakes and then feeding rodents to snakes. I knew that reptile parent wasn't in my cards, but it bought me enough time to research and find a specialty herp/reptile store in town that I could donate Wheels to. Now why do you people own snakes let them learn in the wild otherwise there would be no problem of pet abandonment. If there was no market for pet snakes there would be no invasive species.
@@ayatollahvladimirputin3844 Number one, what are you even saying dude? And number two, anything and everything has been owned as a pet, and snakes are just one small piece to the invasive species puzzle. If people were more educated, then they wouldn't release the animal in the first place. Most people who release them do so because the animal got too big, they didn't do research, they just mindlessly purchased a cool looking snake, not knowing or expecting it to get bigger. Plus, snake keeping and breeding has been a hobby for years dude. Proper education and awareness would lead to less invasive species. With your logic, we wouldn't own cats. They're an invasive species that's caused multiple animals in different ecosystems to go extinct, and yet here you are complaining about snakes. Funny
@@ayatollahvladimirputin3844 Ball Pythons (which is the species of snake in the video) are from Africa and most people that actually own ball pythons are from North America and Europe, which would mean releasing the snakes into those continents illegal as they would be invasive. Even if you set ball python eggs into the wild (releasing invasive species into the wild) and let them hatch, most ball pythons have many different morphs that could make it hard for them to survive, such as BEL morphs being completely white. Africa doesn't have ticks that would go after snakes, since most African ticks will feed on cattle, humans, and other mammals, so ball pythons probably don't have to deal with ticks especially since they spend most of their lives underground only going up to hunt and get water or move. Also, ball pythons are already a mostly domesticated species, and releasing any kind of domesticated animal would be a bad idea (even wild ball pythons in Africa will live near cleared areas of farms to eat the mice and rats that come by, which is why in Africa they are called Royal Pythons cause they eat all their mice and rats lol).

Some species of snakes are just non aggressive towards humans no matter what. Like most people, I don’t like snakes. Of course most of us are not educated and we hear a lot of horror stories making it all the worst for us. But this was such an educational and compassionate experience. So glad I watched it. Thank you for educating us.
Those eye caps need looking at though or she may end up blind. There's stuff like shed ease, or mineral oil would work as well. Soak in warm water for about 15 mins and dab mineral oil/shed ease on. I'd hate for her to lose her eyesight. The vet should have pointed that out to them since they are obviously new to bp's and it was inevitable that she would shed and likely have a rough time. Dunno, just my opinion, they should have been informed. Really hope they took care of that or, if not, possibly see my comment, which is a real stretch, but I'll leave it here anyway.
You can find the original videos on their YT channel, Florida's wildest. But it has been a pretty long time since they found tic tok (their name for the snake) Edit: after watching recent videos, she's looking bright and shiny with clear eyes. She's even got her own enclosure. She's all ok now.
Snakes go into blue right before they shed. That snakes color was very light and had a slight grey to it so it might not have shed yet and instead just starting their shed. Also they should've gotten a rock or something when they bathed the snake so it can keep it's head above water and not accidentally drown or get any soap in it's mouth. They seem pretty amateur.
After watching the video you can clearly tell she doesn't have eye caps anymore so idk how you missed that. Also a lot of herpetologists, vets, and biologists don't recommend bathing your snake unless they have very bad stuck shed. All you need to do is crank up the humidity when they go into blue. It needs to be at least 80% and it can be as high as 100% but you need to keep an eye on your snake and lower the humidity immediately after the shed so you don't harm your snake and cause a respiratory infection or a scale problem. I did that for my ball python every single shed and never once had a problem, infection, mites, or any illness. And I would always clean my tank and change bedding after each shed and at least once a month. Spot cleaning for bowl movements of course and urination. I would also remove my ball python for feeding because she seemed to have difficulty aiming her strike and would miss, which makes since because their prey doesn't come down from the sky, they run on the ground. People say a snake will be defensive if you feed in your tank but that's a misconception. If you only open your tank to feed and clean then usually your snake will think it's feed time and will be in predator mode. If you routinely check your snake and take them out to explore and get some sun about every 3-4 days depending on how shy and easily stressed your snake gets, you'll be fine. Some people never open their tank unless they feed or change bedding and it's kinda obvious that the snake will always think it's feed time and be ready to strike. My snake only almost bit me once because I was showing my friend how fast her strike is and I was messing around with the mouse too much with very short tongs. Other than that I've never had a problem.
For a ball python, she's actually pretty damn big. How anyone could just throw her out is beyond me... Ball pythons are one of the sweetest most docile species of snakes you could possibly own.
@@AlanaeImontae there's no good excuse for just throwing your pet outside to fend for itself... If you can't care for your animals anymore, all it takes is a few phone calls to a local rescue facility that can help relocate animals. Tossing your pets outside like garbage is not only irresponsible, but extremely lazy and disgusting.

@@Justthatguy1998 definitely, there are snakes (like all animals) that you don't mess with. Doesn't mean they are inherently bad, they are all adorable, some just best kept away from
I'm glad that this couple found and saved the snake. It tough to imagine how many animals in similar situation are not found and died in pain without anyone to care for them.
I didn’t know snakes can survive soapy water. The right people found that poor snake. All animals have a right to be pain free and cared for. Including humans.
I'm not an expert on it but I do know a lot of reptiles breathe differently than mammals do. That's why it's inhumane to put down a snake via lack of oxygen, because it takes too long and they actually end up suffering. With small mammals like mice, they'll just comfortably lose consciousness and fall asleep, dying after. Snakes and other reptiles can hold their breath a lot, and I believe they filter their oxygen differently?
Dawn soap is the top recommended soap because it's so gentle. They use it on animals that get stuck in oil spills to clean them, so it shouldn't be just any old dish soap, but something really mild and non-toxic like Dawn
Because they assume any exotic/"wild" pet will do fine on their own, some even thinking their pet will be "happier" out in the wild when they don't want to keep the pet anymore And don't even consider the damaging affects to the environment they will cause if the animal even surives and manages to breed more and overtake the habitat
Because they lack the maturity and/or financial stability to take care of the pet long term. A lot of people get exotic pets because they think it will make them look cool for a while, but they're not thinking about the long term commitment that these exotic pets require.
This is the only acceptable way to do a “gender reveal” lol. I never thought I’d feel so much for snakes.. but seeing all those ticks on her was really tough to watch.

That's a ball python. For anyone who doesn't know, they are absolute sweethearts and rarely strike when they're bred in captivity. They're actually heralded as one of the best snakes for beginners and children because they are so sweet and chill. If this is true then This makes me even more sad. The fact that such a sweet thing could be abondoned.
Correct but always to be careful with them
They're also native to sub-Saharan Africa, and unlike a few other captive species which have established wild populations in North America ball pythons are still only in the wild as released pets. Individual snakes not part of a breeding population. The only two ways that snake could be out there are it escaped or was abandoned.
My old ball python was called Pickles and she would snuggle in my shirt and I'd go for walks with her and she would just curl around my arms ❤️
Ball Pythons are only wild in Africa. Everywhere else, they are only pets. So, that first sentence is more empathized.
Ball pythons are really docile snakes, and they curl up instead of biting if scared.

Snakes do not show love because they don't experience love. Their snakes, not dogs.
Yup. If you hand raise them you can't just dump them at random.
And in the best case scenario, the pet's going to wreak havoc on the environment you left it in trying to survive.
Thank you! This is what I have been talking about.
I know these people mainly have good intentions by saying these animals should be released back in the wild, but they almost never got the opportunity to develop such instincts due to them being in a protected environment! Such a cutie! 😢 poor little baby was so nervous all rolled up. I’m so glad you rescued her. Good for her and good for the Florida ecosystem

We spent a month together -- had some mice and shed some skin. I remember the time he pooped (thought my cat had somehow got in the tank and did it.

Edit: after watching recent videos, she's looking bright and shiny with clear eyes. She's even got her own enclosure. She's all ok now.
I was looking for this comment because there was no way i was the only one who noticed
I noticed that too.
That’s what I was thinking, she was well taken care of before she got there however she got there. Makes you wonder why
and, looks cute
They probably just couldn't care for her anymore. Money issues was the first thing that came to my mind. Maybe eviction or something😭😭
@@PrincessZelda_is_My_Side_Chick Some people just think they don't have the time. You'll never know everybody's situation.
I mean she just grabbed that snake like it was a branch....I could never.
She had to
The couple r floridians
Read between the lines and the details of this "rescue" story will be obvious
I was expecting the snake to attack but if she was previously owned by humans just like a dog she was probably used to humans grabing her and stuff
it's a ball python. it's actually really nice and rarely attacks
I'm not a huge fan of snakes but thank y'all so much for saving this poor baby's life!! She looks so happy now! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I don't get how people could hate snakes, look at her, she's just a quiet noodle dog
Grew up Texas, some snakes are great Cause they kill rodents we hate but, other snakes see your tool shed, garden, garage, air conditioning unit and think,” this is mine now and I will bite any small child who gets near me”
Edit: to clarify I don’t hate snakes, I just wanted to state that very few snakes are noodle dogs most are very angry spaghet
@@Justthatguy1998 definitely, there are snakes (like all animals) that you don't mess with. Doesn't mean they are inherently bad, they are all adorable, some just best kept away from
A WONDERFUL comment here!!!!!!!!!!
@@Justthatguy1998 haha nice one some of them are angry spaghet 🤣
@@Justthatguy1998 angry spaghetty lmaooo you made my day
I don't like snakes but it's interesting to c the progression and recovery she made. Cool vid
I'm glad that this couple found and saved the snake. It tough to imagine how many animals in similar situation are not found and died in pain without anyone to care for them.
She has such a great gentle curious loving spirit about her❤
Ball pythons are absolute sweethearts, only monsters dump them like that.
Bubble Bath? She's a happy lady. And, of course, the beauty treatments. She hit the jackpot with y'all.
Dish soap is usually pretty mild. Some, like Dawn, are designed to be animal friendly.
Dawn soap is the top recommended soap because it's so gentle. They use it on animals that get stuck in oil spills to clean them, so it shouldn't be just any old dish soap, but something really mild and non-toxic like Dawn

Poor sweet girl, thank goodness they helped her - These people are amazing!
Seriously why are people still just dumping their exotic pets into the wild.
cause they dont want to take responsibility
stupidity. Exotic=wild to these morons
Or any kind of animal for that matter, sadly
Because they assume any exotic/"wild" pet will do fine on their own, some even thinking their pet will be "happier" out in the wild when they don't want to keep the pet anymore
And don't even consider the damaging affects to the environment they will cause if the animal even surives and manages to breed more and overtake the habitat
More proof that sex and gender are just the same thing no matter how the cultural marxists try to obfuscate that fact.
@@pdpgb i was just thinking that
@@pdpgb ah yes because a snake has the same psychological functions as human being. We are both complex organism however we are so much more complex them physically and psychologically that you'd have to make lots of logical leaps to think it would be equal to compare us
@@xxcallmeniaxx3272 I don't see why you're even jumping to humans vs other animals like dogs and even then I'm not saying they are equal. Just that they have some preferences past their base instincts.
@@pdpgb because you said this was anytime of "proof that sex and gender" is creating a false equivalency between humans and snakes. Also "just that they have some preferences past their base instincts" what does that even mean? What preferences are you talking about do you mean our psychological gender?? What are you trying to say?
I am really afraid of snakes but I don’t like to see animals suffer it’s just a no for me
Same. I absolutely despise snakes, but my heart still went out to this poor baby. 😢

II love this story. They really understand Ball Pythons needs. It was nice to see her feel better so quickly and appreciate her caretakers.
