I purchased one of these just as a display model. Even the Heng Long R/C model is much cheaper than the Tamiya 1/16 static display model, and Heng Long's scale is good enough.
Just bought this about a month ago. Did some customization. One item: The on/off switch is located beneath a hatch, beneath the rear of the turret. To turn off the tank the turret needs to be rotated, at least a little. No other complaint so far.
Thanks. I came here just to find out where that was. There is a dummy on off switch underneath I thought it was a defect.

How due you get those optional parts for the M1A2 magnet wheel and the machine gun located on the barrel?
I have been always wanted to find a way to hide the FPV camera on my RC tanks. Unfortunately, only WW2 tanks in my collection and none of them have a CITV mounted to the turret lol. I might run into getting one of these modern beauties soon after my Ferdinand project. Could you please link where you got that FPV camera from?

I've been interested in buying a Henglong Abrams, but I've heard that its lower hull is more prone to flexing (compared to other RC tanks, supposedly) if you weigh it down by upgrading with metal tracks/wheels/sprockets/gearbox so reinforcing the hull is recommended. Is there any truth to that?
Any thoughts on the new tanks they have now?

3:50 the suspension on the custom M1 looks a lot softer. How did you reduce the tension of the springs?
Is the oil only for the smoke to work? Or do u have to put oil in it for it to work or so? Like is it important or just for like ”decoration”?

My switch is beneath the turret in a hatch is it ok to rotate the turret while its off or do I have to leave the switch on

Have a 5.3 H/L abrams, goes very well. Of course me being me had to do some hard offloading, as you do. You know what I mean, mud, dirt all the good stuff and promptly killed one plastic gear box. $40 later and she is unstoppable. Might get the steel gear, tracks etc but we will see. Would like to get the tk 6.0 gear mainly for the turbine sound but that might be a bit down the line.

I know that it's a couple of years down the line but if you haven't already upgraded to metal gearing and track's I'd do so at the first opportunity to. Way better than the plastic ones. The steel gear boxes would be best as the zinc alloy one's can still be a bit fragile. Don't forget to put some grease in there anyway. I was surprised to find out that,that little detail had been left when it came to mine being built. So I added some and it runs super smooth now. Don't add any grease to the track's though. As that will attract dirt and grit. Which won't do them much good. Hopefully yours is still charging around like it was when it was new.
Like the woodland paint scheme you gave to the other Abrams. I’m not a fan of the stock brown. Does the Abrams come out of the box with a woodland scheme like or is it only brown. It should have a version like the leopard 2 with the black green brown that’s what I like .

Nice review. Question, when you say a drop of oil, the book says 2 ml. is that too much? Will smoke come out of both fill holes? Thanks!
If you've already bought one you'll already know by now but basically don't go mad on filling it up. Or it will end up being too full to smoke. See if one drop works and go from there. As both pipes are fitted to the same smoke maker it should come out of both pipes. Unless of course there is a blockage of some sort.

Pro version has metal tracks from factory.

Looks like you've got a busted suspension or the middle wheel has come loose (frame 6:25) I just received my Abrams M1A2 V:6.0 still pending more upgrades for her and a custom paint job. Thinking of dropping a 5000ah 7.4 battery for longer range.

Apparently it's called a FPV camera. Someone has already mentioned it in the comments section on here. Hopefully that'll be some help to you.
Hi, i've recently purchased a sep v3 kit from DKLMRC how did you setup the lights? i'm recently new to the RC world and i'm having a hard time with the upgrades since there isn't a lot of tutorials on specific tanks and upgrades, can you do a series on the different tanks, upgrades and the boards? really having hard time with the board since there isn't a lot of content out there that tackles those problems!

Because people tell me i need to upgrade my board in order to run extra stuff like a moving CITV or the Emergency light, any tips?

Whats up with the middle wheel on what would be the right side at 6:58 ?
The wheels on my king tiger has that problem but less severe, the wheel at the right back that is plastic (i have m idle, drive and track) is sligthly like that, and sometimes when i reverse it manages to move the track out of place

LOL its real solid alright! at 6:32 it looks like a busted left road wheel axle and if it's just resting on the track guides it should be lifted straight up and not cambered inward like a rican low rider tuner car!

Just bought an Abrams. The power switch was missing for the vehicle, then the representative I contacted told me that the switch for the smoke function was the power button. Can someone please confirm this?
I am going to nit pick something, at 4:22 in the video the turret rotates and the engine sound or sound in general changes. If you have ever been in an Abrams you know that is not correct either outside or inside the tank you cannot hear a change in sound when the turret moves.

It's a toy, but enthusiasts can modify as they like. Pity the sound aren't more realistic though. No clatter of the tracks. I'm just modding the Abram, gun recoil, flash, mod the track recoil and use sound cards to record real tank sounds to use on model. Good tank to mod as lots of space inside for electronics.

Yep, there is a turbine engine sound on there for sure
Make sure you get the 6.0 or 6.1 version to get the Abrams sound package. The older ones had the Tiger 1/Leopard 2A6 dual profile.

I bought a professional Abrams tank with the metal tracks. but it seems that the tracks are too heavy for the motor to move the tank very well, making it very hard for the tank to turn, or go over very small hills. do you have any tips on how I could make my tank work better? I saved up for a very long time, and I am very disappointed in it.
Anyone have any ideas on how to implement a remote control tank with full turret movement range at 360 degrees without the turret being limited to the rear? Headless mode system may work?

They come assembled you just add stickers and a few small detail parts. Under 30 minutes from box to running.

Yes, but that sound is as close as you'll get right out of the box. That is the only available option for a turbine engine.

Ha ha. The smooth side's of the tank. Way better than the endless amount of tools etc that seems to fall off every time you use it. One of the joys of my Heng Long Panther/ Tiger or Pantiger as some would call it. Although it's no longer that as I've managed to model it into a nice looking Panther A. So yea. It can be done. But yea. The plastic accessories falling or being knocked off seem to be a regular hazard when it comes to these things. Even if you glue them on your tank will have this amazing ability to knock it off again! Lol. Fortunately you can,up to a point,get replacement parts for it. Or just leave it as it is. So as to add to the battle worn look of the tank. So yea. These tank's are great fun. Although I'd definitely get the one's with metal gearing and track's.
My 3D printer is gonna be getting a hell of a lot of use in that regard. I've got the KV-1E and I'm doing it up as if the NCR had restored it, put it back into service, and that means a LOT of greebling is getting put on the fenders. I will grant the detail bobbins are better protected on the KV hull than on a Panther or Tiger hull, they're still prone to coming off from time to time, and if I lose one I'll have to reprint it.
@@TestECull make some tank hatches and stuff to sell on eBay. No one seems to do that stuff. The hatches on the Panthers Turret seems to be forever getting broken yet no one does a replacement for it. Hatches for the escape hatch and hull hatches would be cool too. There's probably loads of other stuff that people want that isn't being made too. Probably never happen but we can dream can't we.
@@darkstardavros I'd almost kill for Heng Long to spit out some ARVs. M88A2 is chief for me...M60 lower hull, custom casemate, all the cranes and winches our little hearts could desire. Would be a BAD ASS vehicle!
@@darkstardavros As it is I'm looking to do a custom build off one of the lower hulls one can find on eBay. Itt'l prolly end up based off a Panzer III/IV lower, though. But that's ok. I have a thing for depicting post-nuclear shenanigans...Fallout being a HUGE favorite game series of mine...I've alredy done it in 1/35th static with the main gun of an M1A2 Abrams and the lower hull of an M113A1 turned backwards to create a custom little mobile 120mm shotgun for the Minutemen. Prolly be similar to that, but RC and 1/16th scale.

Is the glycerin mandatory for the tank to function?
The glycerine is only necessary to make smoke. It's not a fuel for the tank itself.

The abrams switch is located on top under a hatch, the turret needs to be clocked 45 degrees or so to access

No, you would get all the electronics inside saturated. Very little puddles are fine, but nothing with the treads fully submerged

So uh my friend had one and he destroyed it using my airsoft gun. I mean the tank itself worked but the small parts were just *DESTROYED,* making the tank look like it got hit by so much enemy fires
5:09 I generally turn that off entirely. It's a nice idea but it just doesn't look right. Even if the gun is aimed dead ahead or dead astern, the recoil would more want to rotate the tank around its center of gravity than push it straight along. IE, it would be compressing the springs on the opposite end of the tank from the muzzle.
Blipping the traction motors does not replicate that accurately enough for my tastes. And if you're firing over the side to any noticeable degree it just looks incredibly out of place.
So I just turn track recoil off entirely.

@@Skelevon_gaming Ye pop the battery door off your transmitter. Heng Long puts a cheat sheet of common button combinations to disable/enable functions on there. Stuff like the airsoft gun, sound, recoil, etc. Even that annoying headlight can be turned off this way.

Sound is wrong! It's powered by a gas turbine engine and the sound is of a diesel or gas reciprocating engine.
There are 4 sounds you can change. One sound is a turbine
