This got to be the more intense, passionate and heart felt vocal interpretation in the history of Pop music
im from venezuela and love this song and turley since I was a kid in the seventies
This is my favorite song ever, i can hear the song over and over and over again and I never got tired!
Definitely enjoyed your review of the song believe it or not. I bought this record in 1971 and I was blown away by it and I haven’t heard anybody speak of it since, so it was really reassuring to hear your review. Thank you so much for the attention you gave to a song that was over looked back in the day. Additionally, in terms of appreciating a high voice and a song that was well arranged you might want to check out “Take Me Back” by the band Erasure. It can be found on the “I Say I Say I Say” album.
I'm glad you commented on this song, which you say was unknown to you! I always thought Turley Richards was phenomenal on this song. I once showed it to a singer, a friend of mine, who was trying to impress me with singers who were good, but nothing to brag about. His reaction to Turley Richards in this song was "Sings out of tune!" I didn't even try to get him out of his error. I think that, apart fromthe fact that I destroyed the pedestal on which he had those singers he so much bragged about, he became jealous that there was someone as incredible as Turley Richards. Leaving aside the fact that in this song he sings in three different octaves (singing well in two full octaves is already not an easy task), that he uses a growl that would destroy almost anyone's voice and that he gives different colors or timbres to his voice, the passion with which he sings the song becomes evident immediately! It comes from the soul!!! It's not just another song for him. Here he lets out everything that is in his soul.
Never heard of this song nor artist but wow that voice is not from this world!! His range is definetely no joke!!
I wish other people would also react to this song, which means they would listen to it. It is amazing
the best voice
❤
This is the first time I've heard this song and singer. It seems like in the late 60's and early 70's there were some songs about Jesus that hit the charts. I wonder if part of that had to do with the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. One I like is Ocean's "Put Your Hand in the Hand".
Santana and Chris Stapleton just released a song titled Joy ☮️💜
From the movie. I watched many years ago.
The Good Shepherd is glorified .
Outstanding vocal flexibility .
John 3:16 is His certain guarantee that forever quenches the thirst .
After hearing this , BTW I have never heard of this artist before , so thank you for this , I want to say Tim Buckley , you will thank me . Mybe start with lover come over , or Hallelujah, his live in the studio version.
His Starsailor album is a classic with his jazzy but experimental style.
We need to hear Root Beer Rag by Billy Joel Old, Grey Whistle Test is best.
Turley is my husband. I invite you to reach out to me and I will put you in contact with him. He can give you the background story for this song. It’s an amazing story!
I would like to know the history of this song, how such inspiration was possible to sing like this
One comment: Stank face !!!
