In an interview right after this, Mao said "I had a lot of regrets in today's game. Many of my jumps were failures." "I like this program, so I'm happy that it got a high rating." "I couldn't show where I've been working hard." Mao's antagonists are blaming her for this, but this result is a rare case for Mao. No one is happy with the result. Judge is wrong.
GOE? wrong edge(sign “e”)-2 to -3,unclear edge at take-off F or Lz -1 to -2. under-rotated (sign < ) -1 to -2. I think that Suzuki was subtracted.and PCS, asada 64.54.suzuki 62.11. There is not the big difference(Its judged regardless of a jump) .TES suzuki 64.51,TES asada 52.78.The difference 11.73 points. The difference of the short program is 9.35 points. The eurosport in Germany said that Mao was lucky. Exactly.
though I can understand the frustration, I thought those commentaters loosing their cool that much was too much. at least they should have checked the score sheet before criticize anything and do it logically according to the judging system. I feel sorry for Mao who has nothing to do with the judging has to be treated like a some criminal.
I really love her, she's one of my favourite skaters... But this didn't have the usual mao-feeling... Poor mao... She messed up the jumps but tge step sequence was quite good and i could see mao again
yes, she was so mad that she won with the performance. right after kiss&cry, during an interview and at the awards ceremony, it was so clear that she was so disappointed. Mao is too humble that she couldn't take the outcome. I still believe that she deserved the win after seeing the score sheets tho. it was hard for me to watching her like that. but that's the reason why so many of us love her and support her. I hope she wouldn't feel too bad about this.
I dont care the mistakes, or the scores, I really like the performence, this IS NOT a boring skate, its enjoyable, and has such a good interpretation of the music, you really watch this performence with ease, and enjoy every single part of it, not only the jumps.
I can't believe the result. I don't want Mao to win in such a way. Maybe she feels the same thing. I believe that Mao do the perfect performance in GPF. I'm sure that she will :)
dont blame Mao, she is not the judge, and i think the judges know what they are doing, they have been doing the job longer than any of us, btw, look at the score of Kim in 10 and 11 world championships.
more like it's coming from their anti-japan sentiment? korean ppl say they feel incredibly competitive with us. and they have been doing the same type of negative campaign not only Mao but to other Japanese athletes such as MLB players or national football team. and like you said, Mao is one of their favorite anti-japan targets because of yuna. they attack Mao just because of that. tho Mao has never ever said or done anything wrong to Yuna and Korea. that's so sad, isn't it?
Can you explain a score of Suzuki? Explain it concretely if you say to there. What is a problem? The adding up of the score is readable in a protocol.plz
I didn't say "only" I said "every negative comments I checked were koreans" it's not prejudice it's a fact. and you are korean too... like I said in my previous comment, I also surprised at the result at first. but if you see the score sheets of both SP and FS, there are no "ridiculous" marks for Mao. and Mao was ahead of 10 points in SP, Akiko won the FS with 126 points! I think Mirai's score was a bit too low but other than that, it's pretty fair score.
Is this? 1 2Lo 1.80 0.26 0 1 0 1 2 1 1 1 1 2.06 Add+0.26,At first the maximum and the minimum are cut. Then, it is not listed with failure in the GOE guidelines. Height, flow, force, landing,,,etc The umpire determined that there was not a problem.
They actually said very nice things about her skating and recognized her as a top athlete who has all the elements. No, they are not being disrespectful to Mao; they only disagree with the score.
I'm a Mao fan and I agree that Akiko should have won this. Mao should've placed fourth in the freeskate (behind Suzuki, Nagasu and Li) and finished third overall. At the same time, you guys shouldn't hate on Mao. You should blame the judges for ridiculously overscoring her. Even she was surprised by her victory and wasn't too happy about it. I swear, judges have gotten so biased nowadays and are always letting the "favorite" win. Look at Skate Canada as well!
doesn't matter if they dissed Mao or not, though it's unbelievable to diss any skater's performance if that was true. the point is they admitted that Mao deserved the score according to the judging system. that's the whole point.
We should calculate finely. It is possible to say that its ridiculous immediately, but the calculation of the protocol takes time. It is that a judgment was fair to be important.Neither Suzuki and Asada had the unfairness.A commentator must not say such a thing"ridiculous"
She is not a movie star, and these's not ridiculous. The current rule is not an old judgment system. As for the 6.0 judgment system, an appearance was important. In other words it was determined in an impression and subjectivity. But, as for the present times, its different. A score is decided on all elements by the new judging system(Code of Points) Therefore we dont understand a score if we do not calculate in detail .
yeah, I know that they are always nice to Mao. probably that's why I felt weird this time. and I can imagine most of broadcasts reacted the same way, actually i did too. but then again, I still think they should have been more carefull. because if you check the score sheet, although there are some points that need adjustment, there are actually no such "ridiculous" things on Mao's marks. btw, I totally agree with you about racism/nationalism plus Mao bashing. I would call THIS as "ridiculous".
looking and comparing score sheets from other competition, it looks to me that whenever skaters took off on a wrong edge, or underrotated a jump, they get -GOE for TES, but also deduction from PCS (under skating skill, performance/execution). Mao didn't underroated anything, where as Suzuki underroated one jump, and that certainly reflected on their PCS.
I of course don't know Mao personally but I hope that people will have enough sense not to judge her character by the results of this competition- she has absolutely no control over how the judges score her. None at all. No, of course this program shouldn't have held over Suzuki or Nagasu, and it's clear that she understands that by her surprise at seeing her score. I just hope that no one thinks badly of her-she's a great, great skater- this was a terrible error on the part of the judges.
Total score in current judging system is TES + PCS. Yuna Kim's high PCS score helpled her earn record 228.56 points at the last Olympics. Mao's extremely difficult two 3Axels wasn't enough. Patrick chan always scores high even if he makes mistakes with his jumps. Yuzuru Hanyu's record score in SP is thanks to high PCS, too. I think these commentators should see the score seat by the judges. Like it or not, that's the judging system of late. You must know the "skating" as well as jumping
what an idiot ... Asada landed two 3A in FP but what about 1T and downgraded 3F ??? She only got 5.13 points from these 2 jumps that's why she lost to Yuna. And her skating skills are not enough to beat Yuna as she is way too slow. FYI, Yuna's TES was 78.30, Asada only got 64.68.
Ridiculous belief.Everybody were high in the score.(in NHK)This competition is relative. evaluation.190 is not a score standard. There's 200 competitions, too. You should calculate a protocol.Extremely fair. It's true! I always read judgments fairly.
>her mistake jumps, double jumps are recieved lot of goe. The PCS doesnt decrease by the failure of a double jump and the jump.and GOE,too.Everybody are added..But the fall is deducted points.bcuz,it loses a flow and the timing of the performance.
suzuki,3t3t=8.2pts mao,3f2lo=7.1pts The toe loop toe loop is not difficult. and Suzuki has become the single Lutz.(short program) On the other hand, Mao was perfect.
lol it's funny. watching all the thumbs ups for good comments are gone in a moment and all the negative comments get thumbs ups instead, you can tell korean yuna bots are swarming around on this vid. korean ppl are so funny haha
The shock of the popped jumps finally has worn off. What she executed was great, especially the combinations (2A-3T AND 3L-2L-2L). The 3L was the best loop she's done in 3 years. She still should not have won, but now I almost can understand the respectable score she got for this program. The 3 flip was solid too.
Thank you yuna. but I honestly felt immediate heartfelt tweets and comments from other skaters from all over the world is more touching than Yuna's money. especially after I read the the comment she made in one of korean articles right after 2011 tokyo world was postponed due to the earthquake. she said that it was good thing because she can practice more. btw, I've never seen anyone who insist a praise for donating. you are making me feel like yuna donate just because she wants to be praised...
Not very convincing since Philip Hersh himself is a joke. ;p did he say the same thing to yuna kim when she won FS with horrible performance in the 2010 Turin world ? Eurosports forgot that Mao was about 10 points ahead of Akiko in SP.
I actually didn't listen to it because I don't understand Japanese, but a friend of mine on the Mao Asada forum translated it. UA-cam won't let me post links for some reason, so I'll message you the link.
wear your glasses!!!! she did not get downgraded or received 2 GOE points for any element. She did one 2L and got .26 goe . The 3Loop in combination recived .5 GOE. Even-though she doubled out on a few jumps but none of her elements were downgraded. In this sport, you are rewarded more for perfecting an easier jumps then failing a hard one. She learned from her years of going for countless 3 axels and multiple 3-3 combos in one program.
this things happen in figure skating hundreds of times, esp with patrick chan and yuna kim, but when it happened to mao chan why suddenly everyone seems want to commit suicide? blame it to the marines
Maybe, that it is because your computer is slow since the processor is slowing down because of the lack of memory in your computer hard drive. Mao skates with speed and grace so it is your lack of perception to which I think it is your greatest weakness. Mao is fast and she's not a sluggish skater like you THINK you want to see here.
Asada has been regressing technically for over 3 years. She won this competition with what..3,4 triples? This is the program that couldn't even compete technically on the novice level, yet she is still being held up. This is just crap i mean, just freaking ridiculous.
>The commentators always have the score sheet in front of them oh, ok I'm sorry I didn't know about that. I'm totally ok with the criticism as long as it's about the score itself or about the judging system. but didn't they sound a bit disrespectful to Mao? Is it because my lack of understanding of english?
I'm sorry but Japanese skaters can't act to save their lives. All they're good at are repetition. Practice point jumps and look like sticks in the process. Yuna Kim is in a league of her own from the rest of the skaters in the world by a long shot.
I adore Asada, but the commentators nailed it here (as they usually do); this was ridiculous. This reminded me of 2012 Worlds, when Chan won and the audience was shocked (and booed). A cliched swan lake (what's next, Carmen?) free with MAJOR errors beats Akiko's totally original, joyous free skate on skating skills and choreography??? I just hope Akiko doesn't let this discourage her at Worlds, as she's got the best free of all the field, and the talent to match.
by the way, the british eurosports commentaters were saying the same thing to Akiko last year. they were saying "Mao should have win" so it happens all the time. why korean people are overreacting?
blah blah blah let's cease the crucifixion currently happening and acknowledge this win for what it is: a by the skin of her teeth win for mao asada made almost entirely possible by the 9.35 point advantage she had over akiko suzuki following the short program. fin.
just laugh of all comments made by koreans they wanted to hide how yuna buy judges many times not only in figure skating but in other sports too Mao fight so so fair she because of big lead in the sp inocent Mao never deserve all this bassing i love Mao whatever happen and i keep supporting her Go Mao ! we are here for you fight and win them all
Even Asada Mao seemed to have been surprised that she the judges gave her high scores despite her lackluster performance. NHK Trophy is epitome of skating coruptions filled with dirty money.
no it's not. it's not japanese reporting. it was written in a korean article. and japanese press and media is so so welcoming for yuna. never heard japanese press or media mud sling her except some gossip mags have written some stupid made- up stories before. and Mao and Miki are also their victims. so I wouldn't count them in. haha
Most agree that she shouldn't have won. However, I don't think this will become Chan case because Mao is beyond peeved that she won. Chan accepts amazing scores and screams at bad ones. Mao was mad to where Akiko was trying to comfort her for winning! If you looked at the post-interview, she kept on saying how annoyed she was that she won even though the interviewer was trying to get her to say something good about her performance. Thank you, Mao, for being humble - and judges, PLEASE LISTEN!
Suzuki did skate her best and that's why she won the free. However, Mao also got the marks that she deserved. She received -GOE for the elements she failed to do, but for every other elements she did she executed them perfectly and got +GOE. Artistry, skating skills and all that were perfect. Don't forget she has level 4 for all spins and steps that worth 3.90. She will, however, need to skate CLEAN in the GPF for sure if she wants the gold there.
She won the GPF with only three clean triples. Sadly, that is the current level of the single ladies figure skating. Nobody commits a suicide over such a lowly victory.
aren't korea and japan close ??? like in the kpop world or something. Because kpop always would want to debut in japan then to usa. hmmm, but am not sure though maybe
oh no! Mao did not get goe. for miss jump this program has the whole package to win spins step seq and everything if Mao perform this perfect including jumps in the final high score was expected
why are you people bashing Mao?? oh not again! Korean people... *sigh* did she do something wrong? poor Mao.. please stop the hate comments. OK? people who have complaints should complain to the judges that made this scoring. well, some jump was not good but the overall performance was not so bad. 2A-3T, 3Lo-2Lo-2Lo, that was nice jumps.. Mao, good luck for next GPF
The cold hard fact is that she got the season highest PCS even though she only nailed three triples. Irrespective of whatever sacred and holy goal or passion Asada carries, this victory is none other than "a travesty of justice," "a total joke," and "bewilderment" as criticized by world famous figure skating commentators and journalists. Please explain how her quest for a holy grail goes completely in sync with "a travesty of justice" of this ridiculously unfair score.
it's not yuna, it's KSU who invited them to korea to push korean skaters to them. there is a korean article about it. and yona was meeting the judges IN CANADA according to... I actully forgot because honestly, I'm not interested in Yuna herself like you guys do to Mao. but anyway, I think it was her ex coach. and yeah, I think Mao definitely did meet the judges at the 4CC like any other skater does in any competition. and I don't see any probrem with that.
Either Philip Hersh refused to dig himself out of the old system, or he forgot to watch the short program. Every element counted in the new system. You have to care! Beside you don't need to rely on tweets or other people's comments. Compare the facts and use your judgments! When your elements are downgraded, not only they reflected on your GOE but also your performance/execution/skill. Asada did doubled out on some of her elements, but none are downgraded!!!!.
NHK FREE PROGRAM PCS asada(JO 68.07 / CoC 64.34 / NHK 64.54) suzuki (JO 61.78 / SC 59.82 / NHK 62.11) nagasu(CoC 57.81 / NHK 59.14) zawadzki (JO 53.36 / CoR 55.33 / NHK 54.74) gedevanishvili (JO 57.42 / SC 57.89 / NHK 56.92) makarova (SC 56.12 / NHK 54.22) Does the score not fluctuate? Mao was able to go to the finals with the fourth place.but,if Nagasu is the first place or the second place,?? Tuktamysheva didnt have the GPF.
In an interview right after this, Mao said
"I had a lot of regrets in today's game. Many of my jumps were failures."
"I like this program, so I'm happy that it got a high rating."
"I couldn't show where I've been working hard."
Mao's antagonists are blaming her for this, but this result is a rare case for Mao.
No one is happy with the result. Judge is wrong.
GOE? wrong edge(sign “e”)-2 to -3,unclear edge at take-off F or Lz -1 to -2.
under-rotated (sign < ) -1 to -2. I think that Suzuki was subtracted.and PCS,
asada 64.54.suzuki 62.11.
Poor Akiko...
I really love her, she's one of my favourite skaters... But this didn't have the usual mao-feeling... Poor mao... She messed up the jumps but tge step sequence was quite good and i could see mao again
Is Mao the only one skater in the world who got a 2point GOE on a popped 2 jump from a judge? I don't think so.
NHK杯は、日本選手の優勝が多いイメージが、ある。
Japanese always cast a stone to yuna kim. No one casts doubt on yuna's score except japanese. Know yourselves !!
yes, she was so mad that she won with the performance. right after kiss&cry, during an interview and at the awards ceremony, it was so clear that she was so disappointed. Mao is too humble that she couldn't take the outcome. I still believe that she deserved the win after seeing the score sheets tho. it was hard for me to watching her like that. but that's the reason why so many of us love her and support her. I hope she wouldn't feel too bad about this.
jeez.....it was held in japan, i guess that is why she has won?
the reaction of audience says all about this awkward situation...
I dont care the mistakes, or the scores, I really like the performence, this IS NOT a boring skate, its enjoyable, and has such a good interpretation of the music, you really watch this performence with ease, and enjoy every single part of it, not only the jumps.
Best loop in 2 years, since 2010 worlds.

We should regard a free program, both results as short program.I thought that the ISU made an extremely fair decision.
>A judge gave her the full 2 GOE on the doubled 3Lo.? The season greatest joke
1 2Lo 1.80 0.26 0 1 0 1 2 1 1 1 1 2.06
Its 0.26 points GOE.
Is this?

was she injured during this program? She looks so careful with all of her moves.
Asada Money
What's that?
but yes! you have to critize the judges, they are wrong, not mao.

Maybe japan spent DIRTY MONEY.
DIRTY GAME, DIRTY PLAYER.
asada mao is an AMATEUR FOREVER !!!
Without money she CANNOT PLAY.
HAHAHAHAHA..
It's a shame to buy the victory with money.
Mao, don't bully me like this. I almost have a heart attack. please don't do this again in GPF T^T
NHK asada 117? please ...SC osmond 115? please....suzuki ...Wins GPF...all planned :)
this things happen in figure skating hundreds of times, esp with patrick chan and yuna kim, but when it happened to mao chan why suddenly everyone seems want to commit suicide? blame it to the marines

Shame on you mao asada
I'm rubber, you're glue.
I just hope Akiko doesn't let this discourage her at Worlds, as she's got the best free of all the field, and the talent to match.
actually you koreans are bashing yuna too by blaming Mao's result here. because yuna herself have been accused by the same reason before.
Someone claims to be Korean here, but when I click their ID, they are Japanese!
by the way, the british eurosports commentaters were saying the same thing to Akiko last year. they were saying "Mao should have win" so it happens all the time. why korean people are overreacting?
キム・ヨナのこと言えないね。(^-^)
2A-3TL, 3F,,3L-2L-2L,spins are wonderful, it is ashame that Mao did not hold there
She is extremely slow here. What happened?
blah blah blah let's cease the crucifixion currently happening and acknowledge this win for what it is: a by the skin of her teeth win for mao asada made almost entirely possible by the 9.35 point advantage she had over akiko suzuki following the short program.
fin.
Just take a look at your own country's dirty videos about Yuna Kim on UA-cam. And then you will know how gentle these comments are.
just laugh of all comments made by koreans they wanted to hide how yuna buy judges many times not only in figure skating but in other sports too Mao fight so so fair she because of big lead in the sp inocent Mao never deserve all this bassing i love Mao whatever happen and i keep supporting her Go Mao ! we are here for you fight and win them all
The same to you who have a plethora of time reading & stalking one UA-cam user's comments.
Even Asada Mao seemed to have been surprised that she the judges gave her high scores despite her lackluster performance. NHK Trophy is epitome of skating coruptions filled with dirty money.
A travesty of justice. Seriously, can someone explain to me how she got that freaking score with that mess? WTF ever.
no it's not. it's not japanese reporting. it was written in a korean article. and japanese press and media is so so welcoming for yuna. never heard japanese press or media mud sling her except some gossip mags have written some stupid made- up stories before. and Mao and Miki are also their victims. so I wouldn't count them in. haha
don't know why she is. winner
ステップがレベル4を取れるようになってるし、練習では3Aの成功もあるようなので体調はいいんでしょう。今回は2A-3Tが飛べた以外は収穫が少なかったですが・・・
Her spin was good!
I think it's because Mao and Korea's Kim Yuna competeswith each other
Most agree that she shouldn't have won. Thank you, Mao, for being humble - and judges, PLEASE LISTEN!
poor suzuki shame on you judge and mao

Oh~ asadaㅋㅋㅋ
oh no! Mao did not get goe. for miss jump this program has the whole package to win spins step seq and everything if Mao perform this perfect including jumps in the final high score was expected
why are you people bashing Mao?? oh not again! Korean people... *sigh*
did she do something wrong? poor Mao.. please stop the hate comments.
OK? people who have complaints should complain to the judges that made this scoring.
well, some jump was not good but the overall performance was not so bad.
Please explain how her quest for a holy grail goes completely in sync with "a travesty of justice" of this ridiculously unfair score.
so many koreans are already here lol
funny thing is the same things had happend to yuna. so bashing japan / Mao's score here is bashing yuna.
you got the wrong person. tell it to your fellow koreans here?

it's not yuna, it's KSU who invited them to korea to push korean skaters to them. there is a korean article about it. and yona was meeting the judges IN CANADA according to... I actully forgot because honestly, I'm not interested in Yuna herself like you guys do to Mao. but anyway, I think it was her ex coach. and yeah, I think Mao definitely did meet the judges at the 4CC like any other skater does in any competition. and I don't see any probrem with that.
this is shocking.
thank you for the info. I'm relieved.
If you do not think so, bring evidences.
What a shame, Asada..
NHK FREE PROGRAM PCS
asada(JO 68.07 / CoC 64.34 / NHK 64.54)
suzuki (JO 61.78 / SC 59.82 / NHK 62.11)
nagasu(CoC 57.81 / NHK 59.14)
zawadzki (JO 53.36 / CoR 55.33 / NHK 54.74)
gedevanishvili (JO 57.42 / SC 57.89 / NHK 56.92)
makarova (SC 56.12 / NHK 54.22)
Does the score not fluctuate? Mao was able to go to the finals with the fourth place.but,if Nagasu is the first place or the second place,?? Tuktamysheva didnt have the GPF.
Where is Justice? FS should be expeled from OLYMPICS... Shame on MAU
