Even people who don’t like this channel have to appreciate the effort. 40 bands is crazy work
Just wait... there are even longer ones to come.
We appreciate the, uh, extensive amount of effort you’re putting into this series.
Another great year for death metal classics. My top 3:
1. Deicide - Legion
2. Incantation - Onward To Golgotha
3. Sinister - Cross The Styx
This is like a trip down memory lane for me. I have most of these albums in my collection. Cool vid.
I did NOT expect a Pan-Thy-Monium call out. Awesome haha
They'll show up more than once
Greatly appreciate your effort. 1992 was a tremendous year for Death Metal with so many great releases. So many albums to talk about but one album that is perfection level for me is Gorefest - False. I absolutely love that album. On a side note, Gorefest performance at Dynamo the following year in 1993 is awesome. It's on UA-cam and is definitely worth watching.
\m/
@@MetalTrenches Though I rank it perfection I love that you put it at the top of fantastic.🤘I just think it's an album that deserves more attention.
Last One on Earth is perfection. Down to the last minute detail.
Glad you again included Mortification - you’re practically the only one that includes them on ranking lists. I listened to Scrolls thousands of times over back in the day.
Shame they really start to go downhill the deeper you get into the decade unfortunately. But yeah, the early stuff is noteworthy.
@@MetalTrenchesTheir third is OK, but they fell apart when Jayson Sherlock left. Leukemia really ended Steve Rowe's musically prowess. Nice personalities, but they were done done by 1996.
Scrolls of the Megiloth is probably the best Christian death metal record.
I love this album! Such unique guitar and bass tones and great riffs. I wish they had continued in this direction.
I'm loving this series!
So many great deathmetal releases this year. I was 17 years old and played in my first band:) Wonderful to see all the great Swedish releases. Pan-Thy-Monium is one of my favorites. So weird and soo amazing:)
I´m french and I´m kind of disappointed that the 2 major death metal albums from France did not get a shout out in the previous video and in this one:
- 1991 - Massacra - Enjoy the violence
- 1992 - Mercyless - Abject offerings
These 2 albums are imo superior to 90% of the albums in those tier lists and I wish they got their due recognition.
Cheers, I agree with your perfection tier, excpet for Tomd of the Mutilated. Fornever laid to rest, Imperial doom and An evil shade of grey are top 50 of all time!
@@erorufurakku6378The Cube c'est très bon mais c'est 1993 😉
Abject Offerings is wicked sick.
1. Deicide
2. Atrocity
3. Gorefest
4. Bolt Thrower
5. Therion
Just my personal top 5 🤘
I can’t believe how much death metal was out already in 1992. So many bands I never heard of but now have to check out. With all these releases in 1992, somehow death and morbid angel took the year off lol
Thanks for reintroducing me to Sinister. Im going to take a deep dive
Looking forward to checking out the ones I’m not as familiar with here.
Loving this particular series! Keep it up. Can’t wait for 93.
Awesome! Don't care where you decided to put things. Your list, should go where you want them. I'm just now on a nostalgia kick. I forgot about 2/3 of these albums and am rediscovering I own a lot of them, lol.
Thanks for pointing out Lemming Project. I randomly came across that album about 16 years ago now, and i absolutely loved it. The debut is no slouch either.
\m/
Awesome video as always! Here are some of my favourites that you didn't mention:
Mercyless - Abject Offerings
Incubator - McGillroy the Housefly
Torchure - Beyond the Veil
Transgressor - Ether for Scapegoat
Eternal Dirge - Morbus Ascendit
Chemical Breath - Fatal Exposure
Thanatos - Realm of Ecstasy
Merciless - The Treasures Within
So many great albums from this year (as with most years), impossible to cover everything but you covered a lot of the best ones. Really enjoying this series.
Cheers 🤘🤘
Really appreciate the efforts you put into this list. Even forgot about Pan Thy Monium myself. My favourite bangers from back then were Monstrosity, Malevolent, Gorefest and Asphyx. Great times. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Will now probably revisit some of these albums again.
This is my year of birth. Thanks!!
Appreciate all the work. Really enjoying this series and finding some new death metal!
fastastic list here, tons of albums and frankly bands that i hadn't heard of before. i guess the mission of introducing unknown stuff to your audience was a success.
I feel like Demigod, despite being from Finland, actually sounded more like what was going on in New York with Immolation, Suffocation, and Incantation than they did like their Swedish neighbors.
I'm glad you put lots of effort into these, gives me so many albums to check out
And SO many more to come
Agressor - Towards Beyond is a great melodic/tech death-thrash album from that year too. No Return - Contamination Rises is also worth mentioning.
My fav is easilly Rotten Perish, also really enjoy The 4th Crusade and Thresholds. End Complete title song is amazing, and Legion and Tomb of the Mutilated are quite fun too. Shadows in the Deep in a step down comparing to the first album but Unleashed always deliver great riffs.
Utopia Banished the first death metal album I ever heard. Friend’s dad had the CD and the cover art legit scared me lol. “The World Keeps Turning” riff lives rent free in my head forever
Great place to start. Love Utopia Banished. Along with Harmony Corruption my top 2 Napalm Death albums. My first death metal album was Death - Spiritual Healing.🤘
Seriously dude! Very hard to rank these! To me? Every single one of these releases is superlative! Another outstanding year for death metal!
I said 1991 was THE year for me, but 1992 are insane too. I remember for my 18th birthday I got three cds from my mother; Legion, Blessed are the Sick and Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious 😮 They are still played on a regular basis, 32 years later…
After cassette tapes slowly died , several of my first CDs I bought in one swoop when I got a CD player (crazy huh?) were Obituary -The End Complete , Napalm Death -Utopia Banished , Megadeth -Rust in Peace and Rollins Band - End of Silence . One of these aint like the other lol ! But they all rocked ! I love me some Obituary .
Honestly, great work on this one man 😎 Many bands I haven't heard of so it was cool 🤘🍻
Cant wait for 1993 so many amazing death metal albums
As a Wisconsin native, I saw a lot of metal bands at the Rave.
Wisconsin has some great bands. Morbid Saint and Jungle Rot are 2 that come to mind immediately.
Man this is another Fantastic ranking Video!! Thanks for that!! To me Sinister, Incantation and Asphyx also go to Perfection Tier!!
💀🤘💀🤘💀🤘
What a year of releases! Some interesting deep picks. A bit shocked by your placement of Baphomet, Obituary and Autopsy all of which get regular rotation here.
Bless your effort sir. PLEASE keep this going lol
Well I'm already working on 98, so we will make it through the decade.
Such a phenomenal year for metal!
The bolt thrower edit faces 😂
Love this 🤘 keep it going
My personal top 3:
1: Tomb Of The Mutilated
2: Legion
3: Imperial Doom
Awesome list man! Not sure if you will add another band to these lists but I’d appreciate seeing Crimson Thorn covered. They were a Christian dm band that released some great stuff in the mid to late 90’s (Specifically Unearthed in 1995 and Dissection in 1997). Just a recommendation though since I listen to a lot of Christian metal.
I remember watching Mortification live in the 90s and yelling out "send in the lions"....cheap fun at the expense of a cool band
I'm glad you mentioned edge of sanity, they are my all time favorite band.
loved the bolt thrower cut in. got me chuckling. also hearing you not name the songs for the C C record brought back the memory of the late great Trevor of the black dahlia murder on the C C centuries of torment dvd. he was holding tomb of the mutilated reading the song i think we all know you cant say on here, and saying he put it back on the shelf because he didnt think his younger self could handle it.
Corpsegrinder is also singing on the Millenium album by Monstrosity
Death's Human hit late in 1991 and was my intro to death metal (at 13 years old) then Deicide's Legion and CC's TOTM dropped in 1992. Was a fantastic time to be a metal head.
I agree with most of your ranking, but man, I LOVE that Hypocrisy 'Penetralia' debut, and unlike you, I definitely prefer their first two albums over their melo-death stuff, AND Masse Broberg sound EVIL on the vocals! 🤘🤘
... 'To Escape is to Die' is probably the most catchy track of the whole goddamn year... 😎
Nice list
This year's offering was not my favorite by Autopsy, but I have really been listening to them a lot more over the past 2 years, especially they're more recent releases.
In '92 I was all about Deicide and even liked the Obituary and Unleashed albums. It was a year or two later I got into the zines, and that opened me to Pan.Thy.Monium. That album is easily my favorite from this entire list. I never liked the production on that Monstrosity album. It was too clean. I got the chance to see them live in '91 and their demo is still one of my favorites of all time. The production was grimey and just fit them perfectly. Never really got it "right" to these ears.
Amazing video. It's missing one vital album that should have been on the list, Brutal Truth - Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses, which is god tier
Brutal Truth is more grindcore than anything imo
@@MetalTrenches True, although first album is more death/grind. Starting with Need to Control, the grind elements started taking over. Napalm Death is on the list as well.
You did Morpheus Descends dirty, brah brah.
I actually like the Autopsy album, but I can see why it wouldn't be a hit with most. My favorite metal release of 1992 is Nuclear Death - All Creatures Great and Eaten. It is weird, experimental death/grind with gratuitous amounts of flanger, a guitar tone I can only describe as "ugly" (but in a good way), breakdowns that sound like they are slowly going out of tune, and some of the most disturbing lyrics in the genre. It's about as close to outsider art death metal probably gets; not for everyone, but I think people who it hits with, it really hits with.
1992 was another amazing year for death metal. Some of the most well known bands released some of their best material while lots of new and upcoming bands in death metal debuted that year. I really want to check out that Cenotaph album since it has members from the Chasm who rule and are underrated. Of all these albums I’ve heard, this would be my ranking:
S - Deicide - Legion, Asphyx - Last One on Earth, Malevolent Creation - Retribution, Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes, Napalm Death - Utopia Banished, Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade, Cannibal Corpse - Tomb of the Mutilated
A - Mortification - Scrolls of the Megilloth, Amorphis - The Karelian Isthmus, Incantation - Onward to Golgotha, Edge of Sanity - Unorthodox, Obituary - The End Complete, Vital Remains - Let Us Pray, Baphomet - The Dead Shall Inherit, Nocturnus - Thresholds, Order from Chaos - Stillbirth Machine, Vader - The Ultimate Incantation, Centinex - Subconscious Lobotomy, Unleashed - Shadows in the Deep, Monstrosity - Imperial Doom
B - Autopsy - Acts of the Unspeakable, Hypocrisy - Penetralia, At the Gates - The Red in the Sky Is Ours, Sinister - Cross the Styx, God Dethroned - The Christhunt, Therion - Beyond Sanctorium
Some realy banger DM albums a realy great year! =)
Another one for the playlist 👌 can you do a deep dive for Nevermore in the future 🙏
Perhaps
I love how specific this is. 1992!
Tomb of the Mutilated is for sure THE BEST Death Metal album of 1992
Awesome
I feel i love most of those albums. Even the most obscure ones like Babylon Sad and Lemming project. I recommend for 93 Above the light by Sadist. Great italian prog death that had that big Death and Atheist feeling before that was cool. That's one of my favorite 90s european death metal bands i never heard people talking about.
Speaking of deicide they got a new album on April 26th this year I wonder if might age well or not.
Singles have been sick but the AI art definitely will steer people away from the album🤔
1. Necrophobic- The Nocturnal Silence
2. Nocturnus- The Key
3. Luciferion- Demonification
4. Deicide
5. Morbid Angel- Altars of Madness
6. Sacramentum- The Coming of Chaos
7. Acheron- Rites of The Black Mass
8. Incantation- Onward To Golgotha
9. Decameron- My Shadow...
10. Opeth- Morningrise
Not in any particular order.
Shocked you never heard Demigod. It's in my top 10 death metal ever. Maybe top 5. It's literally a 10. Massive shame, the other 2 weren't as good.
Didn't Unleashed do Who Let the Dogs Out? 😂 Great video, as always! 👏
Autopsy is disgusting, thats the point of the album and it delivers. Im shocked with the low rate of Morpheus Descends this album is awesome.
Anyway i like your content, keep it up
I dont agree with all of your rankings, but its cool to see some very underrated obscure albums on this list.
It would be boring if we all had the same lost anyways
Good list, but it critically lacks Disharmonic Orchestra. Their album was the most mind blowing.
Love that Purtenance album. Oops.
Don't like to be that Guy but you forgot the third release of TIAMAT but i still appreciate you included them in the last video. Great video
I stopped including Tiamat as around this point I'd argue they stopped being death metal. Same will happen with Paradise Lost and Therion.
@@MetalTrenches i agree with your point I was unsure if I should comment about it or not but here we are . thanks again for the effort for doing this video. good day
When will we get a tier list for Deicide?
When the new album drops
Oh man, you gotta have Morta Skuld in there for '93!
I like how the pronunciation of “fantastic” is Sol Rosenberg.
I agree with a lot of this, but that Asphyx album deserves perfection tier. You did a few of those one and done bands dirty though lol
Morpheus Descends deserves to be ranked WAAAAAAY higher! Imo the best NYDM band ever even with so little material.
Epidemic of Violence?
That Corpsegrinder era of Monstrosity is really great. You could already really see why Cannibal Corpse wanted him so badly after the Bleeding.
Love the series
Please continue this series.
I'm a latebloomer when it comes to death metal, I used to really dislike the genre (thought it was all oink-oink generic/emotionless stuff), but OSDM is the sh1t.
saw purtenance live they are nice
Pretty sure Dan Swano was never in Hypocrisy, but he is the main dude from Edge of Sanity
Also not a huge fan of death-doom, but boi, Asphyx are awesome.
So many good records
Thank you Papa trenches
Wow
The best albums of 1992
Legion
Retribution
The ultimate incantation
Let Us pray
Tomb of the mutilated
Cross the Styx
Penetralia
I wish you would/could showcase more than 10 seconds of each band . Or maybe just a taste of 3 tracks per album , like a minute or less from each band . Just a thought . I dig your channel anyways , thanx my man .
And have hours of work snatched up in the copyright system? No thanks. UA-cam won’t let you just put in as much music as you want.
@@MetalTrenches Yeah I figured that . I just wasnt sure what the cut off would be of what is or isnt too much to play . But better safe than sorry . Also these days if we are interested in band we can just look it up in 2 seconds !
I have a new idea!.. How about "Every single melodic death metal album ranked since genre inception"?!?!
💀
Amorphis The Karelian Isthmus is a bit uneven, but at its best it's like a wet dream combination of Bolt Thrower and early Paradise Lost. Don't really hear DT The Gallery at all. That was more of a technical album.
Autopsy’s second album is great when you’re biking at night in a woody area of Detroit
Still the only real tracks are Meat and that one thats the most popular and has that low flying UFO groove
DAN SWANO was never in HYPOCRISY but he was with Peter in BLOODBATH 🤟🤟in the album NIGHTMARES MADE FLESH
Putting the debut Hypocrisy album that low tier is an abomination brah brah! Masse Broberg's vocals alone were among the sickest vocals of the old school DM scene. On the first 2 HYPOCRISY albums. 🤘
I don’t apologize
Disastrous Murmur - Rhapsodies in Red?
❤
I hope on 1993 albums tier list there will be Broken Hope. You skipped their 1991 debut in the previous video.
There are a LOT of albums and the reality is it’s pretty much impossible to catch everything
Wasn't 1992 the year of church burnings in Norway?
Probably
Yeah a great year for sure🐐🐐🐐
Is it me, or does that SEANCE record look like an iPhone having a battery fire? Life imitates art sometimes...
I'm glad I'm not alone on that " baphomet " album! Every one raves about it...I personally think it sucks!
The Red in the Sky is ours is easily the best in 1992 and the best melodeath album period. Shame ATG never reached that peak again.
Slaughter Of The Soul wasn't a peak?!
@@MetalTrenchesit was nothing special. The AC/DC version of melodeath
@@MetalTrenchesthe fact that you think that album is great just tells me everything on how you rank death metal albums this shit is priceless🤣🤣
Ik this has nothing to do with this but figure maybe you have an idea. They repressed all of deaths albums on vinyl EXCEPT Symbolic. Any idea why?
It's usually just some weird rights ownership thing. Same reason you can't watch Dogma anywhere now.
@MetalTrenches figured as much. Great movie, got the DVD I'm good. "Mr. Barker flew to the Philippines on the company account to have sex with an 11 year old BOY"
And Solstice?
