    And what splendid coaching stock!

      The railway must have worked really hard to collect and keep maintained such a lovely set. Most railways struggle with this and you are right of course - such a splendid set on the K&ES Ry :) Cheers, Warren

    The Kent and East Sussex Railway is quite a well-established heritage railway, being active from Linleys 360 love louis shirley

      Yes indeed, and they have plans to extend and join up together - I wonder if that will ever happen. Cheers, Warren :)

      Hey yes indeed! It's on the list. Maybe in 2024. Cheers, Warren :)

    Hello there Warren, the steam locomotive that you rode behind was GWR 2-6-2T 41xx Class Large Prairie No. 4144. It is not a 2-6-0 as you incorrectly stated in your video. It definitely is a 2-6-2T as it has a pair of trailing wheels below the bunker/cab. The blue saddle tank steam locomotive hauling The Wealden Pullman luncheon dining train is Hunslet 0-6-0ST Austerity No. 25 'Northiam'.
    Best wishes and take care. Kind regards, Peter Skuce. St Albans. Hertfordshire.

      Oh well spotted - what a silly mistake! I have looked back at my narration script and I typed it correctly but clearly I can't even read! Thank you for commenting about this, and for providing the extra useful information. Very much appreciate your support. Cheers, Warren :)

    A very good video, one note to make is that 4144, is on hire to the K&ESR railway from Didcot railway centre

    • @Linleys
      @Linleys  2 роки тому +1

      Ahh right, thank you for saying that. The guard wasn't sure at all and the notes online say that the loco had been at the Didcot Ry centre but it wasnt clear from what I read who currently owns the loco. Cheers, Warren

      @@Linleys no problem, helps i volunteer there (Didcot that is) and helped restore 4144....well a teeny tiny bit

    Not been on the K&ESR for a couple of years. Love to see different engines than what we have at the Bluebell in Sussex

    • @Linleys
      @Linleys  Рік тому

      So true, they do have some different engine types there on the K&ESR. I'm still curious to know if the line will be extended like one of the staff was describing. Costly for sure! Cheers, Warren :)

    I did not anything about a new bridge over the local bypass. More info, please? Such as who pays for this?

    • @Linleys
      @Linleys  2 роки тому

      I assume the railway would need to pay for any bridge that is needed if they go ahead with the plan. They would have to raise sponsorship and donation money alongside bid for any grant that might be available. I really don't know how any of that would be done. Good question though - do you have any idea?

    Roberts bridge is getting a turntable there so locos can pull trains back to bodiam chimney first when it eventually opens

    • @Linleys
      @Linleys  2 роки тому

      Ahh right that is good for the railway and offers another fairly unique feature for a railway. I have not seen a working turntable for years. Thanks for the news, cheers, Warren :)

    If the Colonel could see his Railway now, he’d be speechless. Especially with a GW loco in use.

    • @Linleys
      @Linleys  2 роки тому

      You are totally right about the anomalous use of a GW loco but I guess it is "needs must" for the railway at the moment, or at least when I visited.

      I'm sure he would approve. He bought used locos and rolling stock from all over for his lines.

    The only thing missing in Kentish pubs is Bob Luck cider. Discontinued while I lived in Chilham. Huge disappointment.

      I'm am rather more interested in Real Ales when I have the choice but a decent cider in the summer is lovely!

    Joining the Robertsbridge part of the line to the existing Kent and East Sussex line, is certainly controversial. There is a large poster on a farmer's field on the planned route, expressing objections to the plan. Nevertheless, a lot of time and money has already been put into the project with some track and even a turntable in existence at Robertsbridge. The proponents point out the the advantages of being joined to the main line; the detractors point out the expense and damage caused by the line and the new bridge over the Robertsbridge bypass. Nice video though and you did well not to take sides!

      New bridge over the Robertsbridge bypass?

    • @kitheasman6311
      @kitheasman6311 2 роки тому +2

      I have no real information but when I was there, that is what people were saying. Certainly something has to be done to link the KESR with the Rother Valley Railway at the Robertsbridge end, as the road is in the way!@@alistairkewish651

      Indeed Kit, I think there is some local issue with the extension but not sure what the ongoing plans are. I'm sure to go back and see one day in the future, Cheers, Warren

    • @Linleys
      @Linleys  2 роки тому

      Quite true about the need for some sort of bridge as the main road won't want a level crossing for sure! Cheers, Warren

    • @Linleys
      @Linleys  2 роки тому

      Surely so indeed, if they manage to work on a join between the two parts of the line. Cheers, Warren
