    Great work Dave, I really love your video's; the music, your humour..... I can't believe you don't have a ton of subscribers..... Any way, keep it up, I really like your wife's graphic design skills too, not 'tacky' at all...... well done!

    I just got a Tomos Frame and will be doing a full restore. I've been wrenching on my Garelli for a bit now, but this is a real project. I can't tell you how stoked I am about your videos! This is going to make life so much easier

      Thanks! I guess there aren’t a lot of us moped freaks out there, so not many people are watching. I think it means the people watching are like me, so I don’t really mind the low counts (at least that’s what I tell myself). I’ve got more than 2000 views on my toolbox restoration, so maybe I’ll start a toolbox channel :-).

    I found it works much easier, by putting the piston inside the cylinder halfway, so that the rings are compressed, this way it is easier. then put the whole thing onto the studs so that the piston aligns with the con rod, put the piston pin in and done.
    Also the DMP high compression head looks a lot better, it aesthetically fits the cylinder a lot better. They come black as stock, if you so find it important, then you could sand blast it to make it gray.

      Danny. There is something wrong with that bike --- where are the pedals??? No pedals, no medals! :-) HA! I can't believe that bike is 50cc. Do you have some dirt trails around where you live so you can go off-roading? Looks like it would be a blast.

    To make your life easyer next time. Put the piston half way in the cylinder on the work bench before you mount it to the engine. It takes a few moments compared to doing it like you did there..

    You beter put a55 cylinder head without gasket on this airsal kit .
    There is no problem with standard head on the airsal . Runs beter and compresion is higher.

    My pedals stopped engaging one day and i've watched this video like 20 times and taken the transmission apart about 5 times. My sprag clip popped out and started all this and i've had problems since. All the parts look in good shape, and i put them all back properly, but the pedals still don't engage, front or back. Can't quite figure it out, if its all assembled properly it should work, but its been a no go. Trying to get some ideas before i go for time #6. ALSO: i watched the future video where you forgot to put a second washer on the pedal shaft, but if i put more than one there, then the trans is locked up and wont move at all. If you've got any sugggestions, id love to hear them!

    • @DavidFixesHisShit

      Are the pedals stuck, or do they move and just not engage the gears?

    • @pauld.b7129
      @pauld.b7129 4 роки тому

      @@DavidFixesHisShit the shaft moves, the they just don't engage. I have a feeling my claw collar spring needs replaced. The gear with teeth that's supposed to move seems to come off track when I when i turn the pedal shaft. I'm assuming the claw spring isn't putting enough pressure on it. Thanks for replying! Your videos have been very helpful!

    I need to replace the stator coil on my 2010 tomos sprint, and I have read that there is supposed to be a timing mark on the stator coil that lines up with/in between 2 lines on the engine case. But the stator coil I got to replace the one on my bike has NO mark on it www.treatland.tv/original-tomos-A55-OEM-cdi-stator-pickup-p/oem-tomos-cdi-stator-243100.htm. So how do you go about mounting it to ensure proper timing? Because even the stock one on my bike doesn't have a timing mark!!! Does the flywheels external magnet www.treatland.tv/original-OEM-tomos-A55-electric-start-flywheel-p/oem-tomos-a55-flywheel-243101.htm trigger spark with the hall sensor, and make it so it doesn't need to be mounted in any SPECIFIC spot?? Or does it just mount so that the darker coil is roughly at 6 o'clock, and the wires can be oriented properly?? Seems NO ONE on mopedarmy had an answer...

    *In '99 I was desperate for transportation and paid $800 for a '97 'Tomos'...it was the solution to transportation...but agony to ride from the relentless buzzing and vibration* *The suspension was far too weak for 220lbs. on it and the skinny tires were dangerously
    over-loaded and the bike itself was inherently unstable over ruts and 'bumps' in the road*
    *NEVER AGAIN!*

      I think they call that the collar claw. It’s got a clip that goes around it. If it is worn, then you won’t be able to grab when you kick back. You can buy a new one right here: www.treatland.tv/original-OEM-tomos-collar-claw-for-A3-A35-A55-p/tomos-collar-claw-209566.htm hope it helps!

      Google translate FTW! Not 100% sure what you are asking, but I think you are going to put a 33 tooth gear on your Tomos, in which case it’s pretty straightforward. You might need to lose/gain some links on your chain, but you can get a cheap tool on Amazon for that. Good luck!

    what size piston rings do you suggest for a big bore 1999 targa tomos ?

    • @DavidFixesHisShit
      @DavidFixesHisShit  6 років тому +1

      Hard to say. Measure the inside of the cylinder with a caliper. Then go to treatland and see if you can find something that will work. You can always find a new piston and ring that you like and then bore the cylinder to the new diameter. More displacement= more ripping!! Good luck.

    • @DavidFixesHisShit
      @DavidFixesHisShit  6 років тому

      Yeah. Should work with no problem. And remember... the Puch kits work on the A35 too. No issues. Sometimes those are a bit cheaper and if you save $30 on the cylinder, you can buy the hi compression head too. They are pretty cheap as far as moped parts go... good luck!

      You can use the same throttle cable that you already have. If you want to get the carb to open fully, you are going to need to dremel out a bit on your throttle. I do it on the videos. It ain’t hard. Happy brrrp’ing!
