Got the All-Star mitt back today.
We just want to thank you again! Your service is very professional along with quality and trust. Very speedy turnaround, hassle free and great communication. The break in is just right and the laces are amazing, my son is so excited.
We will be doing business again in the future!

Breaking in a catcher's mitt is a workout. Been there at least 3 times. Feel for you! 😂

2 critiques lol. 1st is the way the all star elite is desig from the factory is pretty much made for a flat break in and nothing else. It doesn't have the dual hinge for a box break in. 2nd you should of broke it in with the new laces in. Stretching the laces is a big part of the break in process.

Is that just a kneeling pad from a hardware store like Harbor Freight you’re using under the glove when doing mallet work?

I use a foam bleacher cushion for mine that I bought at a sporting goods store... works phenomenally

Been trying for few months to break in my 15 year old sons Rolin catchers glove. It’s slowly getting there. No idea how some of these manufactures don’t pre break em in. No way some of these younger weaker kids could ever break some of these gloves in.

Give it the hot water treatment to open up the leather and you will be surprised how fast the glove will loosen up.

Great video. While I think it is a little excessive to order a brand new pro quality glove/mitt to be re-laced (If it were me, I'd wait a few seasons before re-lacing it), those orange laces and glove locks make the mitt look gorgeous. Well done!

If you play at any decent level a catchersmitt doesn't last a couple of seasons.......

Absolutely love your videos!! How much time do you spend pounding and molding the glove per round?? Thanks

How would you store the mitt once after a box shape?

    • @mavenbalm
      @mavenbalm  Рік тому

I keep the block in the glove along with a ball. Then wrap it with a #105 or #106 rubber band.

I use a WebGem Square for the box form for catchers mitts to keep the shape. You don’t necessarily have to use the bag that comes with it, just stick the form in the mitt. You can also use a 10” softball and a baseball together in the mitt and wrap it with an ace bandage. I also use WebGem for other gloves, they keep the shape of the glove or mitt nice like you want it.

Does your glove balm alter the color of gloves? I have a Rawlings horween dct and it’s gonna need a condition soon.

    • @mavenbalm

We only use 2 organic all natural cosmetic grade materials, Jojoba Oil and Beeswax. Since Jojoba Oil is known for its non-staining qualities it is highly unlikely it will stain your glove.
However, always test on a small hidden section of your glove to ensure the results you desire. .

Use the glove to break it in, condition with Lexol. Next.
