This honestly made me tear up a bit. My husband was born and raised in Puerto Rico and there is no other place like it. The food...my goodness, the food. But beyond that, the people, the experiences, the culture is just amazing. We're making it a point to visit at least once a year and I'm so glad I'll be there soon. Viva Puerto Rico!

This brought tears to my eyes too! I just came back from Puerto Rico two days ago, since being stuck there during hurricane Maria. If ANYONE was on the fence of traveling to PR, hopefully this pushed you over to buy your tickets! As someone who was born and raised in PR, is truly one of the most wonderful places to visit! The food, the music, the culture, the people are just unparalleled. Don’t take my word for it, come see for yourself!

Nicole, I live in FL and have had two hurricanes in the last two years. It wasn’t as devastating as Puerto Rico, but we’re still trying to repair our home. My cousin’s and I are coming together after several personal losses in the last few years. We’re bringing clothes and shoes for children that need them. Ugh, it was hell the first week after the hurricane. Absolute hellish.
Trees everyone, wires everywere, it was just... bad... When I got out of the house after the hurricane finally set away, my heart was just, broken. Everything I knew was just, gone, all of my childhood was blown away and destroyed, small candy stores, park, gardens.... just gone. But, it's getting better, even if it's been a while now, you can't really forget that... Your body moving to the wind, the objects around you moving, the doors being hard to shut since the wind is applying force... it's scary. But it's much better, 'least I have power now.
I love how the Chef speaks so passionately about the country and his cause! We need more people like him on this planet, then we can feed the whole world one day.
What makes this better is that he's not even from Puerto Rico. But he has always been very supportive of Puerto Rico, specially after the hurricane.

San Juan is beautiful but the rest of the island still undiscovered by the tourists. So thank you for that. We have our heart open to receive it. Another good thing YOU DON'T NEED PASSAPORT TO TRAVEL TO PUERTO RICO. it is a USA territory. And we speak our English too. Ja ja! So come and visit us if you want to have fun.

@@carlreid4722 indonesia has yuca roots as one of the main carbs back then besides rice. We call it SINGKONG. We also has similar yuca mashed dumpling filled with something, but we don't fill it with meaty stuff.

I don't know who this chef is, but he's hilarious and incredible! :) xD
Jose Andres is a very well known Spanish chef. He has a restaurant in PR so no wonder he joined Jimmy for this.
He is great.
He's pretty amazing. He was/is a celebrity chef - he owns quite a few restaurants, had a show on PBS about 10 yrs ago, popped up on food shows as a guest judge, etc. - before he founded the World Central Kitchen non-profit. He's always been a passionate guy, but you can tell the work he's doing with WCK has just completely changed his life.
Jose Andres is the guy who backed out of a deal to open a restaurant in Trump's Washington DC hotel after he saw how Puerto rico was treated after Hurricane Maria. The decision no doubt cost Mr Andres a lot of money, perhaps millions, but he apparently has a soul, something Trump may not quite understand.
He's done an incredible job feeding so many people in Puerto Rico and also was feeding the firefighters and victims the people affected by the fires in California. He does all this without looking for publicity. I'm sure he's done things we don't know about! Food and Chef Andres is love!! Incredible man!

I've been twice and absolutely love the people there. Sure it's incredibly beautiful, but the locals are what make this one of my favorite destinations! Viva Puerto Rico!!!!!!!

As a Puerto Rican that lost family members during Maria, my house got flooded and suffered from begging to end the lack of electricity for 7 months, water for a whole 2 months. This made me cry, i am so grateful for people that spread the truth about the hard working people that are puerto ricans. I loved this episode, thank you so much for speaking up on the situation. 🤍
I as a Puertorican would like to thank Jimmy Fallon and this Spaniard Angel Chef Andres for what he has done for the people of Puerto Rico, he was one of the first to show up right after that devastating huricane to feed all those in need, may God always bless this man. we are so appreciated and deeply indebted with this wonderful Chef for life and thank you again sir!

When he was talking about the hurricane it made me emotional. I still remember it so clearly. I was without electricity and water for 7 months. He was right we adapted to the situation. We helped each other and that’s why I’m really proud of being Puertorriqueña. 🇵🇷💕

I went to Puerto Rico a few years before Maria hit. It is one of the most beautiful and friendly places I’ve ever been to! I loved every moment there! So glad they took the show there and are highlighting the entire island ❤️
